Chapter Six

“There you are!” Ryan cried as I stepped into the sixth year girl's dormitories. “When you didn't come back, I got really worried.”

She flew from her place on her bed and gave me a huge hug.

“Rose, I'm such an awful friend! I should never have said those things! Please forgive me?” She said, while simultaneously crushing my ribs.

“Haha, ow! Ryan, you're crushing me!” I cried, wiggling away from her.

“Oh, I'm sorry.” She smiled as she pulled away.

“And no, Ryan, I should apologize. You are totally right, I am the world's biggest slut.” I said, looking down. I felt like such a slut. When most people needed distractions, they went and rode their brooms or something. I, on the other hand, went and slept with the guy I hated. Again. The fact that I needed to say again really showed what a slut I was.

“No, you're-” She started, then her brow furrowed, and she stepped back, taking in my rumpled hair and clothing. “What did you do last night?!”

“You don't wanna know.” I sighed, going over to my bed and gathering my shower things.

“Wait...” I turned around to see Ryan with her thinking face on. I could practically see the gears in her head turning.

“You totally slept with him again!” She cried, just as Dom walked into the room.

“WHAT?” Dom shrieked.

I sighed in exasperation. I was never going to get to my shower.

I turned to Ryan. “Fill her in on the events at the club, I'll tell you the rest later.”

I raced to the washroom, before either of them could protest and locked the door behind me.

“And then he left.” I finished up my story as I buttoned up the last button on my white collared shirt and pulled my robe over top. I took a deep breath as I tied my tie and turned to face my friends.

Dom and Ryan had bombarded me with questions the moment I stepped out of the shower, and I reluctantly told them everything while I got dressed and ready.

The look on my friend's faces was comical; mouths hanging open, totally dumbfounded. I snorted loudly, which broke their shocked daze.

“Oh Merlin!” Dom exclaimed, jumping up from the bed. “You totally seduced him!”

I threw my pillow at her. “I did not!”

Ryan got up and walked over to me. Putting one hand on my shoulder, she said seriously, “You kinda did.”

Ryan and I locked eyes for a moment, reading each others thoughts.

Then she broke the mental conversation. “I'm so proud of you!” She cried, pulling me into a hug.

Dom burst out laughing at her comment.

“What?” I asked, pulling away, half confused, half happy at her acceptance.

“Well, before the other night, you never really...” Ryan paused as if searching for words. “Other than Rowan and Al, you never really spoke to that many guys. It seemed like you thought you were above them.”

“I did not!” I protested. “I talked to guys all the time! And I don't think I'm above them, I just think they're rather...” I thought hard for a moment to find the right word. “Trollish. And you know, not really... I don't know, not really really people. And incredibly stupid.” I added.

Dom started laughing harder, “Rose, two things. One, snogging boys at balls then refusing to acknowledge them the next day, doesn't count as talking. Two, how can you think they're trollish or stupid? They're good looking and plenty smart! Scorpius is even better than you at Potions.” She looked at me and raised an eyebrow as if thinking 'can you argue with that?'.

“Ugh, please don't mention that name.” I said. “But look, I've decided now that I'm done my OWLs, I can afford to live a little. I want to start having fun!”

Ryan clapped her hands together excitedly. “Yah! Now Dom won't be the only slut!”

“Hey!... Wait, no that's true.” Dom shrugged, and wiggled her hips 'sexily'. “I've snogged every guy in our year!”

I snorted and grabbed my bag off the nightstand, “Come on, we need to get our time tables.”

I smiled down at my time tables. Though I tried to hide it most of the time, sometimes I couldn't help it; I was a huge nerd. I simply loved going to classes and school. My schedule looked like this:

Monday
History of Magic, break, Double Potions, lunch, Arithmancy, Double D.A.D.A, dinner

Tuesday
Double Charms, break, Double Transfigurations, lunch, Muggle Studies, Herbology, dinner

Wednesday
Arithmancy, break, Transfigurations, lunch, Double Herbology, Muggle Studies, dinner, Astronomy (11:00)

Thursday
*Empty*, break, Potions, lunch, D.A.D.A., History of Magic, dinner

Friday
Arithmancy, break, Charms, lunch, Histoy of Magic, Muggle Studies, dinner

“What do you have?” Ryan asked, leaning over to compare her time table to mine.

I looked it over quickly, and exclaimed, “We have every class together! Except for Muggle Studies and Arithmancy, of course.”

“Yah!” She smiled at me. “I still don't understand why you take Muggle Studies. Divination is an easy O.”

In third year, I had decided to take Muggle Studies, I thought it would be fun and interesting, which it is. Ryan and Dominique, on the other hand, decided to take Divination, because 'all you had to do to learn about Muggles was stick your head out your front door.'

Dom leaned over Ryan to examine my table. “Ryan and I have every class together, we're going to be sick of each other by the end of the year!” She joked.

“I already am sick of you!” Ryan shot back as she sat down at the Gryffindor table.

“Hey! Not nice!” Dom huffed, poking Ryan with her fork.

“Settle down, guys.” I laughed as I loaded up on scrambled eggs, bacon and toast.

We ate our breakfast quickly, and not wanting to be late for class, headed up to History of Magic.

Though I usually find class interesting, History of Magic was the on class that never failed to bore me. Having it every Monday morning was going to be torture.

Finally, we reached the class and I slid into a desk next to Ryan, Dom taking a seat behind us with Rowan.

“Why, hello, cuz!” Albus cried as he walked into the room.

I turned and smiled at him, but then narrowed my eyes furiously when I saw Scorpius behind him. Al plopped down in the desk on the other side of me, Scorpius taking the one next to his.

He swiped my schedule off my desk and began comparing it with two other sheets of paper. He burst out laughing, and handed one of the papers and my schedule to Ryan, who took them confusedly.

Then she started laughing, as did Dom when she looked at the papers over Ryan's shoulder.

“What is so funny?” I asked angrily, trying to snatch the papers away from Ryan, who giggled and handed them back to Albus.

“Good news or bad news, Rosie?” He smirked at me.

“Good news.” I deadpanned, what the hell was on that paper?

“Well, you and I have the same classes except for Arithmancy, and Muggle Studies together.” He said happily.

“And the bad news...?” I asked, still confused.

“You have every class with Scorpius.” He sat back and looked at me as if waiting for me to explode.

It took a minute for that to settle in.

“What?” Scorpius and I cried at the same time, then glared murderously at each other.

Al, Ryan and Dom started laughing again.

“How the hell do I have every class with him?” I cried. “Don't I have to have classes with the other houses?”

“Rose, look around.” Ryan told me gently. “We're a pretty small year, this is it.” She said gesturing around. “Haven't you noticed? It's only you, me and Dom in our dorm since Annette and Carmen transferred to Beauxbatons.”

Dom piped up then. “It's not like you have every class exclusively with him, we're all in the same class other than our electives. It makes sense.”

“Doesn't mean I have to like it!” I snapped. “All I want is to be as far away as possible from the prat!”

Rowan poked me in the shoulder, and I turned around.

“Am I missing something here? You seem to hate him more than usual.” He said, his brow furrowed. Rowan hated not knowing what was going on with me, sometimes it was annoying but mostly it was like having a big brother. He was just watching out for me.

“I'll tell you later.” I mumbled as Professor Binns floated into the classroom, and called us to order.

Pf. Binns, one of my least favourite teachers, had been teaching at Hogwarts for hundreds of years. He had died nearly three hundred years ago, but a little thing like death didn’t stop Binns from continually boring students. He simply continued teaching as a ghost. His wheezy, monotone voice made me wish I had the Ghost Busters on speed dial.

Class passed by slowly, most people had cast Muffliato and were talking amongst themselves. I ignored the talking though and continued taking notes, as my friends talked around me. I noticed while shooting him angry glances, that Scorpius was also ignoring the chatter and taking notes. Halfway through class, Ryan turned away from Dom.

“What happened to fun Rose?” Ryan said, smiling and poking my elbow.

“Fun Rose wasn't mad at her friends.” I retorted.

“You're mad at me?” She said, pouting.

I sighed and cast Muffliato. “Yes.”

“Well, what did I do?” She said, leaning closer to me, and looking concerned.

“You all need to stop laughing at the whole Scorpius-and-I ordeal.” I hissed. “It's not funny, it's bad. It shouldn't have happened, it was the biggest mistake of my life. And you guys are laughing about it.”

“Oh,” She said, “I see.”

She shot a glance over at Al and Scorpius then continued. “I'm sorry, I mostly just laughed because I'm trying to impress Al.” She looked down, going pink.

I started, and leaned closer to Ry. “You fancy Al?”

She nodded, face completely red. “But don't tell him!” She sighed, looking frustrated. “I can't figure out how to get his attention! He never flirts back or notices me at all, I don't know what to do!”

I though for a moment before a light bulb went off in my head. I could feel the mischievous look go into my eyes. I grabbed a piece of parchment and started to write. Ryan struggled to move my hand that was guarding the paper, but I refused to let her see until I was down. When it was finished it read:

Friday Night

Room of Requirement

Bring Your Own Fire Whiskey

Get Ready To Party

Ryan's face broke out in a wicked grin. “Perfect.”

I took out my wand and pointed it at the paper. “Geminio.” A duplicate of the note appeared and I repeated the curse until the notes filled my desk. Crumpling a couple into a ball, I thew one at Dom, Al, and Issac Macmillan, a Hufflepuff I was friends with. Turning around, I levitated a few to my other friends in the class; Ben Davies from Ravenclaw, Alexandria Lise from Slytherin and Emma Smith from Hufflepuff. Ben shot me a thumbs up as he read the note, and both girls beamed at me.

I turned back to the remaining notes on my desk and folded them all into paper air planes. On each of the wings I wrote a name; Lorcan, Lysander, Molly, Fred (all in seventh year), Louis

and Roxanne (in fifth year), Lily and Hugo (both in fourth year). I quickly charmed them and watched as they flew out of the class and hopefully to their owners. I turned and looked at Professor. I giggled as he droned on, it was amazing what he didn't notice.

Class finally ended, and we all raced out of class, eager to get out of the room.

Rowan fell into step beside me. “Care to share, Rose?”

I sighed and once again started telling the story of Scorpius and I's 'activities'.

“Where is that prat?” He looked around angrily. “I'll curse his ugly face off.”

I laughed and grabbed Rowan's arm. “I can handle it myself.”

“So I can't curse him?” Rowan shot my his best puppy-dog face.

I burst out laughing. “No, not today, Ro.”

“Fine.” He grumbled.

We made our way up to our dormitories, talking about Quidditch and things. Rowan was on the team with me, though I played Chaser and he played Beater.

After gathering our books for Potions, we started making our way to the dungeons.

“Is Hugo trying out for Keeper this year?” Rowan asked as we walked down the stairs.

“Yepp, and I think he'll make it. He's certainly better than Emmer.” I said, referring to Jason Emmer, last year's Keeper. I could never figure out how Emmer made the team; he was terrible.

“Good.” He nodded pleased. “So Fred's a Beater, you and Gracie Thomas are Chasers and Lily's the Seeker. We need another Chaser though.”
“I know.” I sighed. “We're not going to get anyone as near good as James was though. I just hope there will be someone left.”

Ryan and Dom caught up with us then.

“Enough with the Quidditch talk!” Dominique exclaimed, she hated Quidditch.

“Come on, let's talk party!” Ryan said, looking excited.

We talked about the party the rest of the way to the dungeons, and took our seats just as Professor Alban strode into the room.

“No talking, students, and wands away!” He ordered as he reached his desk.

Professor Alban, my other least favourite teacher, took over for Slughorn about fifteen years ago. He was very strict and was the Head of Slytherin, which of course, made him favour Scorpius over me. I didn't hate him because he taught Potions, which was one of my favourite subjects, but he was prone to giving excessive amounts of homework and terribly difficult tests, as well as being way too strict.

“Now that were are moving towards N.E.W.T. Level potions, we will be working in permanent partners which I have selected for you. There will be no exceptions, no trades or changes, is that clear?” He eyed the room as if daring us to contradict him.

When no one did, he cleared his throat and began to read.

“Dominique Weasley, and Issac Macmillian.”

“Alexandria Lise, and Rowan Finnigan.”

Rowan got up and moved to sit beside Alexadria, who looked ecstatic. Everyone, apart from Rowan, knew Alexandria had a huge crush on him.

“Ryan Longbottom, and Albus Potter.”

I shot a smug grin at Ryan as she moved to sit by Albus.

“Emma Smith, and Jasper Nott.”

“Lillian Boot, and Anthony Goyle.”

A few more names were called, and I started to squirm, wondering who my partner would be. Finally he read my name.

“Rose Weasley, and Scorpius Malfoy.”
