“Uh…I got to….Sorry.”
And then he ran up to the boys’ dorm. Hermione looked disappointed and went up to her dorm. Ginny started laughing.
“I was right!” she exclaimed.
“What were you right about?” Harry asked.
“Ron likes Hermione.”
“How do you figure? If he does, he would’ve kissed her.” She sighed.
“He got all nervous and jumpy. He likes her. And, if you think back to the Yule Ball, he got jealous of her being with Krum. Hermione likes Ron as well because she was disappointed he didn’t kiss her. They just need time to realize it.”
I smiled knowingly. It was going to take a long time.
The three of us talked for another fifteen minutes before Harry went up to bed. Ginny and I walked up to the dormitory to get some sleep. I lied awake wondering what Draco was doing. Normally, I would be lying in his bed right about now waiting for him to come himself and wrap his arms around me. I’d take in his scent and fall into a peaceful sleep.
“You miss him, don’t you?”
“Yeah, I guess. I’ve fallen into a routine.”
“But it is good to break it once and a while.” I agreed and relaxed; trying to get myself to fall asleep.
The next morning, Ginny and I got ready and met Harry and Ron down in the common room.
“Where is Hermione?” I asked. Harry sighed.
“She was down here when we first came down. When she saw us, she ran out.” Ginny giggled. I rolled my eyes and we went down to breakfast.
When we went down to the Great Hall, my eyes immediately shifted to the Slytherin table. Rose and Blaise looked over and smiled. Draco, on the other hand, gave me a glare. I sighed, knowing he was upset for me not coming last night. But what did he expect? That I would always choose him over Harry? First, Harry gets mad that I’m with Draco, and then Draco gets mad I’m with Harry. Couldn’t I have it both ways?
Harry looked at me knowingly. “Go ahead.” I sighed.
“But...” He smiled.
“Just go.” I smiled back and walked over to the Slytherin table. I sat down next to Dray and got myself some breakfast.
“Shouldn’t you be over with them?” I sighed.
“No, don’t even. You didn’t even tell me! I would’ve liked to have been told!”
“It was a last minute thing! I already had plans to hang out with Ginny; you knew that! And besides, Blaise came over and asked me if I was coming back with you guys. I assumed he would have told you.”
He scoffed. “Of course he told me, but I would have liked for you to have told me yourself.”
Blaise chuckled. “D, you know you sound like a girl, right? ’Why didn’t you tell me where you went?’” He imitated in a girlish voice.
“I do not!”
Rose smirked. “You do.” He sighed and stopped talking. He took a bite of sausage and looked back at me. Before I expected it, he dragged me to stand up and took me out of the Great Hall.
“Did I sound like a girl?” I giggled and pinched my fingers together.
“Just a little.” He chuckled and hugged me.
I found that it was really easy to manage my time between my Slytherin and Gryffindor friends. However, once exams approached, I spent most of my time in the library studying. My mind was in so many places. Part of it was focusing on the exams that I had to study for, but the other part was spent worrying. Once exams were over, the Third Task would take place which meant Harry’s life would be put in danger again. Of course, it seemed like I was the only one worried about this. I didn’t expect Draco or Blaise to worry about him, but it seemed Rose was a little bit concerned.
She wasn’t concerned necessarily for Harry, but she was for me. She knew that I was fretting over everything and she tried to help me through it. She even tried to talk Draco into being nicer to Harry so I wouldn’t be getting my heart pulled in two separate directions; which of course didn’t work. He kind of yelled at her and told her to stay out of his life. I know that hurt her so I apologized over and over and told her she shouldn’t have said anything. Rose, being herself, just shrugged it off and told her it was no big deal.
I hadn’t been getting to spend a lot of time with Draco because of all the stuff that was going on, so I was relieved to find him alone in the common room when I got back from the library. He was sitting on the couch staring into the fire. He didn’t even notice I sat down beside him until I laid my head on his shoulder and said a soft “Hello.”
He looked over at me and smiled. “Hello love.” He kissed the top of my head and went back to looking at the fire.
“What are you doing? You’re looking at the fireplace like it’s going to give you the cure for cancer or something.”
“I’m just thinking.”
I sighed. I didn’t like that he was being so short with me. Usually he was so open with me in what was going through his head. I kissed his cheek and stood up.
“I’m going to head to bed. Are you coming or are you staying here?”
“I’ll be in in a few minutes.” I nodded and went to his room.
After I changed into one of Draco’s shirts, I slipped under the covers and tried to stay awake until he came into the room. It didn’t take long, though. Once I was relaxed, he came into the room and went straight to the bathroom. He came out changed into his pajamas and crawled into the bed. He wrapped his arms around me and sighed.
“I love you.” I smiled as I laid my head on his chest.
“Love you too.”
