"Ron," I greeted my redheaded boyfriend. Smiling I sat down across him at the table.
"Hermione. We need to talk."
I grabbed his hand softly which he quickly pulled away. His face looked cold and annoyed.
"Ron. What's wrong?" my face transformed into a frown.
"Listen Hermione. You'll always one of my best mates. Always..."
"Ron," I said, knowing where this was going.
"Let me finish. I love you, I do. Just not in that way. Me and Lavender were talking and-"
I stood up, furious and hurt. "'Me and Lavender'? Since when is it 'Me and Lavender'?"
He winced. "A few days."
"You cheating liar."
"No Mione. We just... Clicked. I'm sorry."
But I was already walking away. My tears began flowing like a waterfall. I turned the corner and bumped into another student.
"Watch where you're going Granger," a voice snarled.
I looked up to see Draco Malfoy. His harsh sneer softened as he noticed my tears. His pale blonde hair was neat but not slicked back. His grey eyes searched mine, wondering into my mind.
I whimpered softly in the back of my throat.
"Hey... I'm sorry."
Sorry? Surely this was not the Draco Malfoy I knew.
"Are you okay?" he asked concerned.
I shook my head sobbing, unable to speak.
"Come with me." He grabbed my hand. It was soft yet hard, and it wasn't warm and sweaty or cold. It was cool. As soon as our fingers touched, I felt some sort of spark I had never felt before. I could tell he did to as he stopped in the hallway and looked at me, but just for a small moment.
I was too heart broken to resist. I followed him through the hall to a plain wall. Suddenly a door appeared.
"Why are we going to the room of requirement?" I asked, finding my words to speak.
"You'll see."
We stepped through the door and instead of the normal, musty, old room it was, a green meadow with trees and a blue sky was painted before me. Birds chirped singing a song of glee and cheer. The wind rustled the small trees and flowers growing.
I stared at him curiously. "How-"
"I've been in here enough to make the scene change to my will. And you seem to need this right now."
I looked around and sat on a big wooden swing hanging from a large oak tree. I gave him a look signaling him to come sit next to me.
He pushed his feet against the dirt floor, lurching us into a gentle move. then we swung for a few minutes I'm silence. I turned my head to look at him. His eyes were closed and his head was tilted back as he soaked up the suns warmth and braced the wind. Wasnt this supposed to be with me and Ron? But me with Malfoy? Someone who I had hated since the first time I saw him? Who was this handsome man? Was he the mean vicious Malfoy I knew? Or someone else?
"Who are you?" I whispered, the words escaping my lips.
He stood up in a jump, as if I had scared him by talking. He backed away, the scenery started to deteriorate into the dim room I was used to.
"No, Malfoy. Wait-"
But before I could say anymore, he darted through the vacant doorway.
