Chapter 1 : A Proposal

I walked into the flat that I shared with my boyfriend, Nikolas Mewes, to see him reading a copy of the Daily Prophet on the couch. A smile came across my face. I had been waiting all day to see him.
"Hey, babe." I said leaning down and kissing him.
"Hey, gorgeous." He said pulling me down on the couch. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." I said. "How was work?"
"Great." Nik said smiling. He just loved his job as an International Quidditch Star. He played as a Chaser for the Tutshill Tornadoes. "We made some new plays that are spectacular. The Wasps had better watch out."
I smiled back. "Sounds like a great day."
"How was your day at work?" He asked me.
I groaned. "I'm going to kill those boys!" I was the manager and publisist of the Falmouth Falcons. The most trouble making team Quidditch has ever seen. I just wish they could not cause trouble for at least twenty four hours, so the press could get of my arse. But I do love them, even though I want to crazy murder all of them.
"It's hard being the manager and the publisist for the league's best team." I said.
"You mean second best team, Spencer." Nik teased.
I laughed. "No, I'm pretty sure I said it right." Nik and I had a little friendly competition when it came to our teams.
Nik suddenly kissed me. "Happy anniversary." He said.
"Happy anniversary to you too." I said smiling.
Nik and I had now been together for six years. We had been living together for two. And last year we got matching tattoos of the Converse symbol on the inside of our wrists. Life with Nik was pretty damn amazing.
"So, what are we doing tonight?" I asked him. "Staying in, or going out?"
"We're going out." He replied, smiling.
"Okay, I'm going to go change then." I said getting up and walking into our room.
"What should I wear?" I called to Nik.
"Um, something fancy, yet casual. Oh, that white dress. You always look good in that." He called back.
I found the white dress he was talking about. I threw my work clothes of a t-shirt and jeans off, and slipped the dress over my head. "Can I wear Converse?" I asked.
I smiled as I put on my navy blue low top Converse. I walked back into the living room. I did a twirl. "How do I look?" I asked.
"Stunning." Nik said simply. It's amazing how he can make me feel so good, using only one word.
"Come on, let's go." I said grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the flat.
"So, where are we going, then?" I asked as we walked down the street.
"To that new seafood place you've been dying to go to." He answered.
"We're going to Yellow Tail?!" I asked in disbelief.
Nik nodded. When we arrived we were seated immediately, because we're kind of famous. Unfortunately, when I say 'kind of' I mean 'really' famous. The press follow us everywhere and we're known as the Wizarding World's hottest couple, which annoys us both. But it does come in handy when going out to restaurants, or having run ins with the law. Don't ask.
"This place is amazing!" I gushed after the waiter (who was rather starstruck) took our drink order.
"Only the best for you." Nik said smiling.
"I love you." I said.
"I know." He said.
I glared at him, threateningly. "I mean, I love you too." He said.
"That's what I thought."
Nik reached across the table and grabbed my hand. "I can't believe we've been together for six years."
"Me neither." I said. "I feel like we've been together forever already. I never want this to change."
"Yeah, me too." He said smiled. "Speaking of together forever, don't forget that we're going to Hermione and Ron's wedding on Saturday."
I groaned. "Do we have to?" I asked.
"Yes, Spencer. They're both my friends and I want to be there to support them. And I want you to be there to support me, while I support them."
"Babe, I get that, but I feel like you're forgetting that me and Granger hate eachother." I replied.
"That's kind of hard to forget, but sweetie, will you please be nice to her on Saturday, it is her wedding day." Nik pleaded.
"All right, but only because you're so nice when we have dinner at Pansy and Draco's. Which reminds me,we're having dinner there Friday night, okay?"
We were silent for a few moments. "Spencer, do you think Hermione and Ron are too young to get married?" He asked me.
I thought for a moment. "Not really. Twenty-two is a pretty decent age to be getting married, I suppose. Why?"
"No reason." He answered, seeming to be thinking hard about something.
That was strange, I thought. "What about kids, do you think we're-I mean they're too young to have kids?" Nik asked, studying me hard.
Again, I thought. "Um, yeah." I answered. "It would be okay in like three or four years, though. Why? Are they already thinking about having kids?"
"Um, I think so. I was just seeing your take on things. Okay, so not young enough to get married, but too young to have kids."
I stared at him strangely. Why was he acting so weird? Maybe the wedding was making him feel funny weird, which is why he needed me there with him. Yeah, that must be it.
"I still can't believe Granger is getting married." I said half way through dinner.
"Why? Do you think it's too soon?" Nik asked quickly.
"Nooo." I said slowly. "I just can't believe someone would actually want to spend the rest of their life with her."
Nik chuckled, it seemed to be a nervous one. He must really be nervous about this wedding. A thought struck me. What if he was now regretting not staying with Granger, and he planned on stopping the wedding?! That would explain his nervousness about the wedding, and Granger getting married.
There's no way, I assured myself. Nik loves you and wouldn't leave you no matter what. You're just overreacting.
"Nik, is there something wrong?" I asked.
"Huh? What do you mean?" He asked quickly.
"I mean, is there something you want to talk about or something you're not telling me?"
"No, of course not, I just want to enjoy our wonderful dinner." He insisted.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"All right then." I decided to change the subject. "The press aren't anywhere in sight, wonder why."
Nik smiled mischeviously. "Maybe because someone tipped them off that we were celebrating our anniversary in Diagon Alley." He said.
I smiled too. "You didn't!" I exclaimed.
He nodded. "You are so amazing!" I said shaking my head. "I'm so lucky to have you."
Nik scoffed. "Please, everyone knows I'm the lucky one. I have the most stunning girl in the world and the most unorthodox relationship out there. My life is perfect because of you Spencer."
"And my life would be a disaster without you, Nikolas." I said seriously. It was so true too. He leaned across the table and kissed me softly.
"Where are we going now?" I asked.
"A walk in your favorite park." Nik asked, grabbing my hand.
We had been walking through the park for about fifteen minutes when Nik suddenly stopped. "What are you doing?" I asked.
He took both of my hands in his. "Spencer, we've been together for six years now, and they've been the best of my life. You completely altered my life in the best way possible. And without you I would be nothing. You are my everything. And if you ever left me I think I would die, and if not, I'd be dead inside. Just the thought of not being with you for the rest of my life is absolute torture. I want you to be with me forever, I want you to be the mother of my children. I am so in love with you, there's no way out. I want you to be my wife. So..."
Nik got down on one knee and pulled a velvet box out of his pocket. Oh my fucking Merlin, is he going to propose?!?!
"Spencer Leigh Cassel, will you marry me?"
Oh, no, not again...
