Nothing. There was only silence on the other side of the door. That's it. Nik wasn't coming back, he was going to stay with Granger. I should have known. I'm not good enough. Why would he want me, when he can have a smart and ambitous girlfriend?
I was too late. Nik moved on, and I had no one to blame but myself. I can't believe I even thought for a second that he would want me back. I'm so naïve.
"Okay." I said, practically sobbing from the pain I felt in my chest from knowing I had lost him. "I get it. I'll leave you alone forever."
I turned and started to walk away. Today was the first day of the rest of my life. My empty life without Nikolas. This made me cry even more.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my arm, turned me around and kissed me. Nikolas.
I pulled away in shock. "B-but what about the ten second rule? You're not supposed to forgive me, it's your rule." I said confused.
Nik smiled. "Spencer, don't you know you're the exception to all of my rules?"
I smiled through the tears that were still in my eyes. "What about Granger?"
He shrugged. "What about her?" Then he kissed me again. I could feel the stress of the past month and a half leave me. I felt my muscles relax and the void being filled. I was complete.
"Nik, I'm so sorry about everything. I should have known how I felt about you, and I shouldn't have taken what we had for granted. And I just wish I knew sooner that you are everything to me, and that my life without you is empty and meaningless. I'm empty without you, Nik. I never want to feel like that again. And I love you so much. And I'm sorry I didn't know that before." I said quickly.
"Oh, Spence, I love you too. I'm sorry I did this to you, I don't know what I was doing, thinking I could actually live without you. I'm just glad you came back before I had to make a complete fool of myself, begging you to give me another chance." Nik said smiling.
"You don't need to apologize." I said. "It's all my fault, but I promise, it will never happen again. I promise whenever you're ready to take the next step, I will be too. No matter what it is. Moving in together, getting married, having kids, getting matching tattoos. Whatever you want, I'll do it, I swear."
Nikolas looked amused. "Woah, there. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Why don't we just leave it at just loving eachother for now?"
"We can do whatever you want." I said kissing him.
"Nikolas, I heard someone knocking, who was-Nikolas!" Granger's voice shrieked, causing Nik and I to break apart. "Why the hell are you kissing her?!" She demanded.
"Because, Granger, we're back together. I hate to break the news to you like this." I said mockingly. I know, so not mature, but I think I should get bragging rights, considering she tried to take Nik from me.
Granger looked as though I had slapped her in the face. (Between you and me, I wish I had) "Nikolas, what is she talking about? You didn't really get back with…that, did you?" She gestured to me disgustedly.
"Sorry, Hermione, but it's true. We're back together." Nikolas said actually sounding sorry. Why he was sorry, I didn't understand. He should be happy as hell.
"B-but, Nikolas, what about us? What about our relationship?" She said desperately.
"Honestly, and no offense to you, but, it's nothing compared to what I have with Spencer." Nik shrugged. "Me and Spencer,we have something real. Me and you, it's kind of just a fling." Ouch, that had to hurt. I couldn't help but smile.
"A fling?!" Granger yelled. Nik merely nodded. "What we had was wonderful, until that skank ruined everything!"
"Excuse me, but Spencer is not a skank, she is the girl I am crazy in love with and she's my girlfriend. I'd very much appreciate if you didn't talk about her like that."
"Nikolas, be reasonable, it will never work between you two." She said.
"Look, I'm sorry it didn't work out between us. But it will work out between me and Spencer. We're going to move in together, get married, have kids, and even get matching tattoos." Nik asked calmly.
Granger looked furious. "Nikolas, you're throwing away your life for this stupid, ridiculous relationship!" She exclaimed.
I seriously wanted to hit her…so, I did. Right in the face. Merlin,it felt so good! I'd been waiting seven years to hit Granger, and it finally happened. It was truly a dream come true.
"Look, here Granger, don't you ever come near my boyfriend again." I said as she held her bloody nose in shock. "Don't ever speak to him like that either. And for the record, our relationship isn't stupid and ridiculous, it's unorthodox. And it's better than anything you'll ever have."
"Nikolas, you're just going to let her hit me?" Granger asked, crying from the pain of her (hopefully broken) nose.
"Yeah, pretty much." Nik shrugged.
"Ugh!" She said storming off.
Nikolas turned to me with an amused smile. "Did you have to hit her?"
I looked down sheepishly. "Yes." I noticed Nik and I were wearing the same Converse. It must be fate that we did.
Nik tilted my chin up. "Hey, I loved the way you hit her." He said.
"Really?" I asked laughing.
"Yeah." He said chuckling. "I wanted to hit her myself. How dare she call our relationship stupid and ridiculous, when it's obviously unorthodox?"
"I don't know, everyone seems to get it wrong, though."
"Yeah, they do." He agreed. "Remember when your mum said our relationship was nonsense?"
"Yeah. Remember when your mun said it was inappropriate?" I asked smiling.
"Or when your brother said it was just plain wrong?" Nik laughed.
I laughed, and it was the first real laugh that I had since Nik put us on a break. But, now I had a feeling I'd be laughing alot, now that we were back together. I really felt that now that I knew I loved Nikolas, everything else had fallen into place. I felt like me again.
"I missed hearing your laugh." Nik said playing with my hair.
"I missed pissing people off with our relationship." I said.
"I missed everything we do together."
"I missed you."
Nik pulled me to him, smiling. "Well, I promise you'll never have to miss me again." He said before kissing me softly. Suddenly he pulled away.
"You know, I find one thing you said quite random and strange, I have to ask about it." He said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Why matching tattoos?" He asked looking slightly skeptical.
I laughed. "I don't know, it was the only other thing I could think of the we could do together."
"What would we even get tattoos of?" He asked.
"Converse?" I suggested.
"You, know that's actually not a bad idea." Nik said thoughtfully.
"You think so?"
"I don't know. Maybe we'll move in together first. What do you think?"
"I think whatever you want to do sounds like a plan." I said.
"I truly love you." Nik said.
"I love you too." I said.
