"It's all your stupid fault, Potter! You, Sirius and Remus had to - had to go and use muggle swear words in front of Professor McGonagall!" Lily yelled.
"To be fair, Lily," Remus said quietly. "You did tell him a few."
"Only to make him shut up!"
"At least you're all in detention with me," I said brightly. "It's annoying by myself or with Bellatrix or my sister."
"True point," Black said, grinning. "I hear dear Bella, Tallulah, Lucius and Mulciber are joining us."
"What?" Peter whimpered.
"We got your back, Pete," James spoke for the first time since we'd left the common room. "Oh and Snivellus is in detention too, Evans. He insisted he was involved, though he was the one we were insulting. Slimy git-"
"Potter!" Lily shrieked. James shrunk back, murmering to Black. We turned the corner into the Transfiguration classroom where we'd sit our detention.
"Ah, Miss. Gibson, Miss. Evans, Mr. Potter, Mr. Black, Mr. Pettigrew and Mr. Lupin, glad to see you could join us," McGonagall said sarcastically. "Take a seat."
Lily went to sit with Severus, James and Lupin sat together and I sat with Black. Poor Peter had to go and sit on his own, bless him.
"Now, some of you know how these detentions work, but for the benefit of those new to the detention classroom," she paused and glanced at Lily, "I will explain. Write an essay on why you're here tonight. I will be sitting in on your detention."
I got my quill out but McGonagall dropped a different one on my desk with a note attatched to it.
Miss Gibson
This is an auto-correct quill, to help you with spelling. Please use it.
Professor M. McGonagall.
I pulled it out and began to write. Suprisingly it helped. Black sat next to me grinning as he wrote a detailed account on what muggle swears were.
"Oi, Black, what you grinning at?" I whispered. He pushed his sheet over and I read it.
I am in detention with my so-called friends James Potter, Lily Evans, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and Gertrude 'Trudy' 'Blue' Gibson because I used 'muggle swears' in the Transfiguration classroom, aimed at Severus 'Snivellus' Snape. The words were told to us by several muggle-born or muggle-area-living students including said Lily Evans and Gertrude Gibson, after James Potter performed an Intolerable Tickling Charm on them both. We were told the words 'git' and 'bastard' and a few others. Snivellus Snape cried his baby eyes out and told on us, resulting in detention with you.
"So-called?" I mouthed at him.
"I wouldn't put a tickling charm on you if you weren't, fool," he mouthed back.
I was shaking uncontrollably with laughter, remembering all too clearly the charm placed on me that lesson. We burst into laughter and McGonagalls eyes darted to us.
"No talking, Black, Gibson."
"Yes miss."
Bellatrix put her hand up, McGonagall nodded for her to speak.
"Well, Professor, I'm quite uncomfortable with the arrangements for this detention. And so is Tallulah."
"Excuse me? Please elaborate," McGonagall said.
"Well having a filthy mudblood sat infront of us is making it really hard to concentrate with that dreadful smell," Tallulah continued. I stood up at the same time as Snape.
"Don't you dare call her a mudblood, Tallulah Marilyn Gibson," I growled. I felt a burning sensation around me.
"Trudy. Hair. Red." James whispered into my ear. I quickly frowned and changed it back to bright blue and turned back to my desk.
"Gibson, my office. Now," McGonagall said in a scarily calm voice.
Too late, she'd seen.
Oh, Merlin.
~McGonagalls office~
"Sit," she ordered.
I shrunk into the seat I was allocated.
"Gertrude Gibson, is there a particular reason you did not inform the school you were a metamorphmagus?"
"No, Professor."
"And, Gibson, you did not see fit to notify me of this when I asked you to change your hair?"
"No, Professor."
"Why didn't your mother tell the school?"
"She thinks I'm a freak," I admitted. "Professor," I added
"Why does she think that, Trudy?" her voice was considerably softer for this question.
"Because...I'm not normal? Tallulah's normal and perfect to her, but she has to hide me away incase the neighbours think our 'perfect' family isn't all it seems to be."
McGonagall pulled a face...was it...pity? I wasn't sure.
"Trudy...you're not a freak, alright? You're one of the few people that are metamorphmagi, that's amazing and you're very lucky. But I must insist you keep your hair appropriate colours for lessons. How about an ice blue? That would be better."
"But-"
"Trudy I am your head of house you do what I say," she said firmly.
"What if you told me to fail all my exams miss?" I grinned.
"I have a feeling you and your friends are going to be trouble, Gibson," she said, suppressing a smile.
"Yes, I have that feeling too," I smirked.
"There's a time and a place Gibson," she warned. "Change your hair, now. You may have it blue in free time if you wish."
"Fine." I concentrated hard and blond curls fell out of my hair, and blue streaks followed them.
"If you must have some kind of blue in your hair then you may, but one streak, Gibson."
"Thanks, Professor," I grinned.
"Tell your friends their detention is over."
I skipped out happily back to the classroom. Blonde hair didn't look too bad, if I'm honest.
I opened the door. Remus gasped.
"Blue? Trudy?" he asked.
"Yes, come on detentions over," I told them. "Not you four," I said, grinning to Bellatrix, Severus, Mulciber and Lucius.
"You look...really nice with blonde hair you know, Trudy," Remus whispered. I blushed and my hair turned pink.
"Thanks Remus - but please, call me Blue."
