Sirius POV:

The blood drained from my face. She wasn't supposed to fall in love with me; it was supposed to be James. I can't let her walk around the school following me everywhere, which would get annoying real quick. I did everything right, I never mess up. I had no clue why she was like this, unless she was joking. I raised my eyebrows but Scarlett kept looking at me with her big blue doe eyes.

"What did you just say?"

"I'm in love with you." She said with confidence.

"Scarlett, stop playing around," I demanded. I took her arm and dragged her out of the library while she was giggling. I noticed people looking at us and I wanted to yell at them. They were going to think something was going on between us, that we could actually stand each other.

"Where are we going?" She asked in a very perky voice.

"To Professor Slughorn," I replied. He was the only one who knew how to fix this if I couldn't.

We walked down the many stairs to the dungeon; people still had their eyes glued to us. I kept my eyes on the ground in front of me the entire time and when we got to the door Slughorn was already standing out there. He had a sympathetic look on his face. I guess he already knew what happened, news travels fast. He opened his door and I dragged Scarlett in there. He closed the door than took a deep breath.

"I see something went wrong with your love potion," He said.

"Yeah, obviously," It came out harsher than I expected, but I didn't have time to apologize.

"Well, then we'll have to see what we can do," He clapped his hands together and walked over to his desk. "How long were you planning to make this potion last?"

"About two days," I replied.

"Well," He said slowly, "maybe we can just let her stay in her Dormitory until Wednesday. It doesn’t seem too serious; the supplies for the remedy are packed away in the cabinet. Besides, I don’t think Scarlett would mind missing classes, don’t you? You can give her homework to Miss Evans to give to her. I say Wednesday to make sure she's right in the head, Tuesday she could still be under the effects."

I saw Scarlett staring at me from the corner of my eye and I nodded without thinking.

"Sounds perfect, I'm not letting her follow me around for two days," I said confidently. Scarlett skipped up to me and held my arm, leaning her head on my shoulder. I tried to shake her off but she wouldn't get off of me.

"Then I'll talk to McGonagall about it and get back to you by the end of the day," He said, giving a concerned look at Scarlett, "you might want to keep her in the common room all day."

I nodded. "Thanks a lot."

Scarlett and I walked out of there and started back to the common room. I'd have to see if Lily was in there, as much as she hates Scarlett right now someone needs to keep her away from everyone. As I stepped in I saw people staring at us, I rolled my eyes at them. I took Scarlett and sat her down on the couch.

"Can you stay here for me?" I asked as politely as I could in the situation.

"Anything for you," She replied in a sweet voice. I nodded and walked over to Peter, who was sitting at the table writing.

"Hey," I said as he looked up, "have you seen Lily?"

He nodded. "She's in the dormitory."

I took some parchment and quill from the side of the table; I was guessing it was Peters. If it wasn't I'd have to repay whoever for using it. I dipped the quill in the ink and started to write a letter to Lily. I told her what had happened and why she should keep an eye on Scarlett. After I finished I folded it and went back to Scarlett, holding the letter out.

"I need you to go to your dormitory and give that to Lily, it's important," I told her. She nodded and stood up, a smile on her face. She kissed my cheek and skipped up the stairs. I sighed. This was going to be a long two days.

-

"So where's Scarlett?" James asked me the next evening after classes.

Scarlett had been in the dormitory all day yesterday, Lily told me she explained to Scarlett it was for safety. That I was apparently going to be attacked and she needed to keep her hidden. I rolled my eyes at the story while Lily smirked. She also told me Scarlett fully believed it, how it must be from the potion. I knew she was having a laugh about the entire thing, especially since I was the genius who made the potion. I don’t even know where I went wrong, I’m perfect at potions. If I do say so myself.

“Why would you ask me?” I replied, trying to avoid the subject.

“Lily told me she was with you before she walked up to the dormitory,” James raised his eyebrows.

Damn.

“Oh,”

“Yeah, so what happened to her?” he asked defensively.

“Nothing, she must just have a cold or something,” I lied, “why do you care so much?”

“She’s my friend, if you hadn’t seen me in two days you’d wonder what was up with me too,”

“Well we’re closer than you and Scarlett, of course I would,” I said, “but I’m going to go to bed early, I’m beat.”

Thankfully, James just nodded like he understood and I got up to leave. I really just wanted to check on Scarlett, just to make sure she was okay. I didn’t want to make sure some weird side effects had happened that no wizard or witch knew about. Because if something bad happened to her, it would be my fault, I’m the one who reassured her I could make that potion perfectly.

I ran up the stairs as fast as could, which wasn’t very fast because there are too many of them. By the time I reached the portrait I was out of breath, I tried to stutter out the password but I think the Fat Lady just saw me and opened, letting me in. I saw Mariana, a girl in fourth year, and went up to her.

“Hey Mariana, can you go get Scarlett for me?” I asked. She nodded and walked up the stairs.

I sat down on the couch and waited for her. I hoped she was better than she was yesterday, if she was going to hang around me for the length of our conversation I was sending her back up there. I looked at the stairs and saw her arrive and immediately see me. She smiled very big and ran over to the couch, sitting next to me.

“I missed you,” she said, throwing her arms around my neck. I threw them off of me and she looked at me with puppy dog eyes.

“Sorry,” I said quickly, “but this needs to be quick.”

She nodded. I didn’t see any side effects and it didn’t look like she had mysteriously passed out earlier today so it must be good.

“Scarlett, um, here’s the thing; you need to stay up in the dormitory tomorrow too. I know it’s boring but it’s for your safety, and I want to do whatever it takes to keep you safe.” Her smile grew wider. “Not romantically, as a friend. Because, I’m your friend.”

“What?” I heard from behind me. I looked and saw James standing there with a dumbfounded look on his face.

Scarlett grabbed me and dragged me to James, a smile still plastered on her face. “Sirius was just telling me how I need to stay in the dormitory because apparently something bad is going to happen. Nothing bad can happen to him.”

She wrapped her arms around my shoulders again and I saw James raise his eyebrows at me and it sort of looked like he was trying not to smile. I glared and Scarlett nuzzled into me.

Yep, the love potion hasn’t faded at all.

“Wow Scarlett,” James said sarcastically, “I cannot believe you and Sirius are dating and you didn’t tell me?”

I could tell he knew she was under a love potion, the whole country could tell if they saw her. I wanted to punch myself for wanting to check on her. Obviously it wasn’t a good idea to check on her. I could make this easy and blame it on her for bringing up the love potion idea in the first place but it was my fault for agreeing. And this is my karma.

“Yeah, we’re in love!” She exclaimed.

“Wow, really?” James said. “Prove it!”

“Okay.” She took my face in her hands and pressed her lips to mine. I was surprised at what she did but I was even more surprised at what the heck my feelings were doing.

It was wrong for many reasons.

The main being that once she pulled away for a few seconds I wanted to kiss her again.
