Tom Riddle was a handsome boy of seventeen. He had curly black hair and piercing dark eyes. His eyes pulled you in and consumed you. No one could resist. He had seen and heard more than any student at Hogwarts or in fact any thirty year old man had ever known. He pretended to have friends. He really tried to like them, but he was truly alone. He felt best when he was by himself. There was only one person he could trust. She was manipulative, fiery and beautiful. Minerva. Tom couldn’t define their relationship. It was somewhere between friends and something much more. He had come to the conclusion of them as friends with benefits.

No one knew Tom inside out like Minerva did. They were almost one.

Tom stood in the shadows in the dungeon of Hogwarts. He was waiting. It was past curfew, but he, being a prefect, had an excuse. He crossed his arms across his chest and glanced up and down the torch lit hallway. No one was there. He looked down the left side again and turned back. Minerva was standing squarely in front of him with a smirk set into her face.

“You wanted to see me Tom?”

“Yeah,” said Tom staring straight ahead at the wall. He wrinkled his forehead and squinted his eyes and looked down at the stone floor. Minerva caressed his cheek with the back of her hand. She turned her hand to the other side and tilted Tom’s face so he would look at her. “Hey, what’s the matter? You know you can tell me anything.”

Tom looked into her emerald green eyes as she gazed into his dark ones. He jerked his face from her grasp quickly. Minerva dropped her hand and stepped back from him.

Tom didn’t know what to say. He knew he could trust Minerva with his life, he might of even found that he loved her if he hadn’t of changed. He gained lives but lost pieces of his heart until there was no feeling left. Tom knew this to be true. Deep, deep down he was ashamed of what he had done. Of what he had lost.

“Tom, don’t be silly,” he heard Minerva say as she grabbed his hand. “Just tell me. What’s bothering you?” Tom turned to face her with a firm sneer set on his face.

“I’m leaving. Probably forever. I might come back one day, but I’m not completely positive.”

“Why?” Minerva asked in surprise. “I thought you loved it here.”

“I did, and I do, and always will. I just feel like I’m trapped. There’s nothing for me here. I’ve learned pieces of magic outside of school that Dumbledore or Dippet would never imagine of having. I have a plan for greatness Minerva. It just can’t be found here. Wizards, especially purebloods, will be the top of the entire human race. You just wait. Muggles and Muggle-borns will have their rightful place. I’ll be like a king. Everyone will know me and fear me. Hogwarts is no place for that.” He shook his head in dismay and took both of Minerva’s hands in his own. He broke into a huge smiled. Even his eyes smiled.

“Come with me Minerva. Together we can do this. We’ll be powerful. I’ll be a king and you’ll be my queen.” Tom looked intently into Minerva’s eyes as if he were searching for something. They switched back and forth between the left and right side of her face. “Minerva. Please. We can do this.”

Minerva half-smiled and looked down at their clasped hands then back at Tom. “You’ve changed. Something happened to you,” she whispered. “I mean, I know you’ve always craved power, but not enough to crush all the Muggles and Muggle-borns.

“It’s the only way to power love. You must understand. Please, come with me.”

“I don’t know if you care enough about me to bring me along because you love me or to just bring me along to have a puppet to help you set off on this mission of yours.” Tom looked at Minerva with a puzzled look written upon his face. Then Minerva did the unexpected. She grabbed Tom’s face and kissed him quickly, softly and with passion. She pulled away and looked into his cold eyes.

“I mean nothing to you Tom. I’m just like any other person you come into contact with. Nothing can change that. You chose the wrong path, and you’ll pay for it. I loved you Tom. I truly did, but I’m not going with you. You’re on your own.”

Tom looked at the dark haired girl in front of him in disbelief. He knew he had loved her before he had traded the one thing that made a person human. He could no longer feel. He no longer felt the love that he had for Minerva. It was gone.

“You’re right. I can’t feel love, sadness, things that would make you happy. I’m lost. I won’t be seeing you again like this after tonight.”

Minerva had tears forming in her eyes as she continued to hold her brave face. The tiny water droplets glistened like diamonds as they slowly dripped down her soft skin. She couldn’t believe the sight before her. The boy she had known was gone. She put a hand on his shoulder and stepped closer to him. She stood on her tip-toes and connected her soft lips to his. She pulled away slowly and dropped to flat feet again. She fluttered her dark eyelashes open. Again light met dark. Tom’s eyes showed no emotion. They looked menacing. Minerva took her hand from his shoulder. She smiled half-heartedly. Her eyes glistened with tears. She gave Tom one last longing look and turned on her heel and walked slowly back to Gryffindor tower.

Minerva got to the portrait hole of Gryffindor Tower, said the password and walked in quietly. She collapsed on the couch in front of the fireplace. She buried her head in her arms and let her tears flow freely. She was a damsel in distress, but this time there was no knight to rescue her from her despair.

Tom’s eyes followed Minerva until she was out of sight. He turned the opposite direction and ran off onto the grounds and into Hogsmeade. He took his wand from his pocket and pointed it directly at the night sky and muttered an incantation. Over the Hogshead appeared a dark, smoke-like skull with a snake slithering from its mouth.

Tom smirked and said with a cock of his head, “Lord Voldemort has arrived. Be prepared.” At that the former Tom Riddle disapperated from the spot.

A/N: So I've had this idea for a while and really wanted to jot it down. So, I just basically wanted to test out the Voldmort/Minerva ship, and came up with this! So I hope you like it and please remember to review! :)
