After the long reception and “family” dinner plus two-hundred guest, more than half of which Hermione and Draco had no idea who they were, they apparated to the beach house that they had bought a week previously.
Hermione went straight upstairs and took a long warm shower. She got out and dried herself off. She put on a dark red tank top and some sweats. She collapsed face first onto her and Draco’s bed. Draco walked in ruffling his hair with a towel. He had taken a shower in the other bathroom down the hall. He had gray sweats on but seemed to forget the shirt.
He threw the towel on a chair and flopped down on his stomach next to Hermione. He propped himself up on his elbows and started to play with Hermione’s curls. “Tired ‘Mi?” Hermione groaned as if to say yes. “Guess what though? Hermione turned her head slightly to look at him. Draco smiled lovingly and raised his eyebrows. “We’re married. It’s our first night as a married couple. What d’you want to do?”
“Sleep or watch a movie?” groaned Hermione.
“That tired huh? Well, okay, we can do all that other fun stuff tomorrow,” he winked at her. “We’ll just sleep tonight.” Hermione smiled at him. Draco leaned over and kissed Hermione gently on the lips, then grabbed her by the waist, until they were perfectly cuddled up together. He snaked his arm around her and let his palm rest over the ever growing bump on her stomach. “Love you ‘Mi. See you in the morning.”
Hermione muttered a “Love you too,” then laid her hands over Draco’s on her stomach. Hermione fell asleep to the feeling of Draco’s warm breath on her neck. Draco smiled to himself. To him he was the luckiest man alive. He had a beautiful, young wife and a baby he would hold in six months time.
The next morning Hermione woke to the sun shining in her eyes. She closed them quickly and squinted to the other side of the bed, but Draco wasn’t there. She flipped the covers off of her and slowly got up. Her stomach did a flip and she all of a sudden felt nauseous. She hurried to the bathroom and emptied the contents of her stomach. She hated this morning sickness thing. She brushed her teeth several times and walked down stairs to the kitchen. The windows all around the house were opened. She could hear the crashing waves and smell the salt and feel the warm breeze on her shoulders. She closed her eyes and let the scent fill her. She was brought out of her trance when strong arms wrapped themselves around her shoulders. She brought her hands to his and held on. “Morning beautiful,” a masculine voice whispered in her ear. She turned around in his grasp and kissed him quickly.
Draco smiled at her. "Where were you love? The water was running for some time.”
“Morning sickness. I can’t wait ‘till it’s over.” Draco laughed.
“Well, it is clinically proven that if you have morning sickness you have smart kids.”
“Where did you hear that?”
“My mother,” he smirked and kissed her again. “I have breakfast for you. Come sit down. I have to go to the Ministry now. My father needs me for something. I’ll be back around three.”
“But it’s our fist day being married Dray.”
“I know, I’m upset about it too, but I can’t do anything about it.” Draco came over and kissed Hermione softly then left through the fireplace. Hermione practically did nothing that day. She called her mom and talked to her for an hour or so, made some cupcakes and lazed around on the couch. She put down her magazine immediately when she heard a pop from the fireplace. She ran up to her husband and took him by the hand. “I made cupcakes! See?”
Draco smiled at her creation. They were pretty sloppy and looked nothing like cupcakes. He wrinkled up his forehead and half-smiled. “I never thought of you as the cooking type.”
“This is the first time I’ve attempted cooking in a while. Especially pastries.”
“Good job ‘Mi, but for right now, you’re coming with me.” He dragged Hermione by the hand up to their room. He set her on the bed and told her to wait there. “Close your eyes.” Hermione sat patiently on their bed and waited for Draco to come back. “Okay, now you can open them. Hermione opened her eyes and saw Draco before her holding a case with a necklace of a combined ruby and emerald on a gold chain. “It took me forever to track it down. They don’t make things like this anymore.”
“Wow, it’s beautiful. Thank you.” She took him behind the neck so he fell on to the bed with her. Draco kissed her softly and ran his fingers into her soft curls. Hermione wrapped her legs around his torso and smiled as she kissed him. She couldn’t contain herself.
Six Months Later
Draco couldn’t contain himself. Hermione had gone into labor. She was rushed to the hospital. Draco, in the excitement of it all, had to make several trips back to their house to pick up the things Hermione needed. He rushed into Hermione’s room and sat down in the chair exhausted. “Hey Draco, could you call my parents and your parents if you want?” Draco was about to walk outside the room when Hermione yelled after him, “Call Harry, Ron, Ginny and the rest of the Weasley’s would you?” Draco nodded and shut the door.
A half hour later the hospital room at St. Mungo’s was filled to the breaking point of friends and family. Mrs. Weasley, Narcissa and Hermione’s mom were huddled around Hermione giving her tips on how to stay calm. They told her things that would sooth her so she wouldn’t think of the pain. Ron, Harry and Ginny were pacing the room nervously. Draco sat in the chair by the bed watching all of the commotion.
The doctor walked in holding a clipboard. He was followed by a midwife and an obstetrician. He went up and waved his wand over Hermione’s abdomen. He looked up at her and smiled warmly. “Mrs. Malfoy, you are fully dilated. We can start whenever you’re ready. I will need to ask everyone to leave, besides the husband of course.” Mr. Weasley, Mr. Granger, Charlie, Bill, Fleur and George all left the room. The doctor coughed. “Everyone else please.”
Harry stepped forward and looked the doctor in the eye. “Look, my friend Ron and I have known Hermione longer than anyone is this room, besides her parents of course, but we’re not leaving. She’s OUR baby sister. We’re not leaving.”
“Okay, so I’m expecting the rest of you need to be here too?” Everyone in the room nodded furiously. “Okay, just stay out of the way of the healers please.” Everyone crowded to Hermione’s head and waited. After a half hour of pushing and resting, the baby was born. The midwife washed the baby off and handed it to Hermione. “It’s a little girl,” the midwife smiled.
Hermione took the baby in her arms and kissed it’s small head. Draco sat down on the bed next to her. Hermione handed the child to Draco who cradled it, like it was the most precious, special gift anyone had ever given to him. Hermione smiled at the sight of her husband holding their child. “Draco, what do you want to name her?”
Draco looked down at the baby. She had grey-blue eyes like her father and straight dark brown hair. Without any though Draco muttered, “Lyra Jade.”
“I like it,” said Hermione quietly. “I love the constellation names. They’re beautiful. Especially for our little girl.”
Draco combed Lyra’s hair out straight and kissed her soft little face. “Daddy’s little girl.” Draco wrapped her up in a blanket and put a tiny hat on her head that Mrs. Weasley had made. He kissed Hermione on the lips and handed Lyra back to her gently. Lyra was passed around like a toy doll. Everyone loved her. She was everyone’s little girl. Draco had no idea being a father could mean as much as it did.
A/N: So I know I have'nt updated in a while, but I had some major writer's block. I knew this was going to be the last chapter and I wanted it to end with the baby. Oh and Lyra is a constellation that's right next to the swan contellation Cygnus. Lyra is shaped like a fish:) Anayway, would you possibly want a sequel? I would do the whole Hogwarts thing with Rose, Hugo, James, Albus and Scorpius. Oh and please remember to review! I love you all:)
