A Prologue Of Sorts
“Oi! Fred! George!” I called after the retreating red heads.
The twins turned in unison as they heard their names.
“Why hello there,” Chimed George as he swooped into a low bow.
“My lady,” Fred mimicked, topping an invisible hat to me.
“What can my brother and I do for you?” George asked as he straightened himself back out.
“I’ve come to make you both an offer of sorts,” I said in my best business tone.
“An offer you say?” Fred replied, turning towards his twin.
The twins looked at each other for a moment before George continued, “Go ahead, we’re listening.” Behind him Fred eagerly nodded his head.
I gave them my best smile. “You see boys,” I started off slowly. “I’d like to issue a prank war.”
“A what?” They both questioned.
“A prank war. A series of pranks that is focused on two parties,” I explained. “It’s supposed to show who is truly the best prankster.”
“You think you could beat us? The masters of pranking?” Fred questioned.
“Of course,” I grinned.
The boys looked at each other for a moment before George answered, “You’ve got yourself a deal.”
I shook hands with both of the boys before saying, “Meet me in the Common Room tonight after dinner.”
The boys nodded their heads and then strolled off to their next lesson, heavy with conversation.
“Can you believe her?” George hissed at me.
“Geo…” I tried.
“Who does she think she is? Does she not know who we are?” George turned to me, his face red with anger.
“George,” I cut in. “Just give her a chance. You never know, she could end up being better than us.”
George’s face grew redder with ever word I said. “Better? Better?! How could you possibly think that she could be better than us?”
“ George, please just give her a chance.” I pleaded.
“This is only going to end poorly,” George warned. “If you play with fire, you’re going to get burned.”
I let out a chuckle at my brother’s ignorance. “George calm down, the only fire around here is your face.”
George’s face fell at my remark. “That hurts Fred,” George said in a flat tone.
I stopped and stared at George. All a sudden I saw a smile start to form on his face.
“You really had me goin there.”
George eagerly nodded his head as he started cracking up. I joined in on his laughter. Soon we were standing there like a couple of loons just laughing our heads off.
“Boys, would you care to join us,” Professor McGonagall said sternly from within the classroom.
“Of course Professor,” I choked out.
“Yes, we wouldn’t want to miss your delightful class,” George said
“Well hurry up then. I’d hate to give you two detentions so soon.”
I slung my arm around George’s shoulder before proceeding into the classroom. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of time for that Professor, I thought to myself as George and I both took our seats towards the front of the class.
Author’s note: Sorry for the shortness. The next chapter will be longer, I promise. Anyway, if this sounds a little weird that would probably be because I’m not English. So I apologize for that in advance. Love forever, Autumn.
