“Mistress, Mr. and mrs. Black wish to speak to you.”
Bellatrix didn’t answer.
“Mistress?” the house elf asked lightly. “Mr and Mrs Bl-“
“Yes, Audrey, I heard you, I’m not deaf! Tell them I’m coming.”
The house elf bowed.
“Of course, mistress.” she said, and left the room quickly.
Bellatrix sighed. What did they want now? Probably they would want to talk to her about that guy who had asked to marry her. When her father had told her it was Rodolphus Lestrange, she was kinda surprised. She had heard that Rabastan, that boy in her year at Hogwarts, had an older brother named Rodolphus. But he was too old for her; he had finished school long ago. But her marriage wasn’t something that she would handle, it had never been. Since she was a little girl, she knew that one day, a rich, pureblood man would be her husband, take her in his mansion, and she would be the perfect pureblood wife, living in luxury with her husband, and give him sons, to extend the pureblood line. When she was younger, that seemed to be the perfect destiny for her. It seemed almost like a fairytale…But now she knew that she didn’t want that fairytale. But there was no way she could get out of it, anyway. Her future was pro-made long ago by her parents.
She knew she should get up from her bed quickly, if she didn’t want her father to get angry. She sighed again, and made her way to the door next to her wardrobe, and she was in her bathroom. She quickly grabbed a comb and brushed her hair on a hurry, and then took a quick look at the mirror. She looked just perfect to meet her parents for an informal discussion. She fixed her simple, cotton dress and rushed to her bedroom door.
When Bellatrix reached the stairs, she took a deep breath, and did her best to make her face pleasant and smiley. When she finally made it to the main living room, she took a look around and saw her mother sitting on the smaller couch, and her father standing right next to her. As she walked to them, she noticed Narcissa and Andromeda were also there. Her youngest sister looked curious to hear what their father had to say, while Andromeda looked like she just wanted all of this to end soon.
“Bellatrix, you finally decided to respond to my call” her father said coolly.
“Father, I had to make my self look appropriate for this. I was in my nightgown.” Bellatrix responded in the same tone.
“Your mother and I wanted to talk to you. It also concerns you, too, girls.” he said, his gaze on Andromeda.
Bellatrix hated when her parents called them to talk to them like that. It always felt that they were following a certain storyline, a certain script.
“Bellatrix, your mother and I have arranged your marriage. You remember talking about Mr. Rodolphus Lestrange?”
Bellatrix simply nodded. She was expecting that.
“We have agreed to his proposal, and you will soon get married to him. He is truly a great man. Very rich, his family is one of the most well-respected pureblood families. And he is certain that you will be a great wife, Bella.”
She did her best to give her father a smile, even though she could feel absolutely nothing. She had never met that Rodolphus, she only knew his brother. And that marriage definitely meant nothing to her. It was just supposed to happen that way.
She glanced at her sisters on her right. Narcissa had a weird expression on her face, like she was both happy and surprised. Andromeda looked angry. Angry, and…disgusted. She obviously hated that idea, the idea of a pre-arranged marriage, and that script that everyone followed in this house. Bellatrix couldn’t help but get mad at her sister. Again. For a big amount of time now, she had been so disrespectful, and she seemed to be against her own family. Bellatrix wasn’t talking to her much lately, but both she and Narcissa were worried about their sister.
“Bella, we think that the marriage should take place after your graduation from Hogwarts. It is your last year, and you have your NEWTS, and you are also a Head-girl. A marriage before you are done with all f that wouldn’t be the best. But after you graduate, you will get married to Rodolphus.”
Yeah, right. Bellatrix thought. Who cares about that Lestrange, anyway? She once again did her best to look polite and wore a gentle smile.
“Of course, Mother. I couldn’t agree more.” She said in a soft voice.
Cygnus looked pleased with her response, so did Druella.
“Good. Now, girls, your father and I wish to talk about something that doesn’t concern you. You may leave.” Druella said to the three sisters.
Bellatrix nodded lightly and made her way to the stairs, once again feeling no certain emotion for her marriage. Her sisters followed behind her, and each of them was soon in their bedrooms.
Once she was in her room, Bellatrix threw her shoes away and collapsed on her bed. She turned around so she was facing the ceiling, and let out a deep sight. Before she could think of anything, there was a knock on her door.
“Yes?” she said in a lazy voice.
Suddenly, Narcissa stormed in, shutting the door behind her.
Bellatrix sat on her bed and Narcissa climbed on it and did the same.
“So?” Narcissa asked.
“So what?” she said back.
“Oh, come on, Bella! How do you feel? I mean, you’re getting married!” there was excitement in her voice.
“Neutral.” she replied honestly. She didn’t even know Rodolphus, she couldn’t feel anything about him or her marriage to him.
‘Are you kidding me? Bella, you- you’re getting married!” Narcissa said again, slower this time.
“Cissy, I know, I’m not a ten-year old, you don’t have to talk like that.”
“Bella, are you joking?” Narcissa said, looking kinda annoyed. “You can’t just feel neutral about your own marriage!”
“But I can” Bellatrix replied simply. “Cissy, you know I didn’t choose this.”
“I know, Bella, I know! I mean, you don’t even know him-“
“Exactly! How can I feel anything about someone I have never met? This marriage means nothing to me, Cissy, it never will. I am just doing my duty to my family by marrying Lestrange.”
“I suppose you’re right…But still, he will be your husband. He is the man who you will spend the rest of your life with!”
“I am right, Cissy! This is my duty to my family, not my own choice, it have never been! And it is your destiny, too, and Meda’s!”
Narcissa suddenly frowned.
Bellatrix noticed it, and her mood also changed when she mentioned Andromeda.
“Bella, what is wrong with Meda?”
“We have talked so many times about this…I don’t know. She is different. After last year, she has changed s much! It looks like she hates everyone in here!”
“You know, I think it has something to do with school.” Narcissa whispered.
“What do you mean?” Bellatrix asked, even though she knew exactly what her sister meant. Last year, Andromeda was way too close to these mudbloods and blood-traitors…maybe they had affected her.
“You know what I mean. Those guys she was hanging around with are definitely not the best company for her. She has changed so much since she started hanging with them…”
“Don’t worry, she will soon come to her right mind.” Bellatrix said, still, knowing that they were loosing their sister.
AN:/ Yay, I finished my first chapter in this story! It feels so good! I hoped you liked it, I have some great ideas for Bella's story! As you anderstood, this takes place before the beggining of Bella's seventh year at Hogwarts, before she was married. This chapter was more like an introduction, the actuall story will begin in the next chapters. With this chapter, I just wanted you to have a look at how things are at the Black house, there is not certain story in this. Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed it, next chapter coming soon!
