Growing a Potter by LilyPotter
Chapter 3 : Family fights
Rating: 15+Chapter Reviews: 1

Background:   Font color:

After Harry and Ginny make their announcement about their engagement and the baby most of the Weasley family protests this. Bill who planned to confront Harry about rumors he had been hearing was the angriest by the news. “We’re not going to let you do this Ginny. Harry cannot marry you Ginny. He can take care of the baby but we won’t let him …”

Ginny looks at him and the others, “It’s not up to you to decide who I marry Bill. I’ll be of age in less than two weeks and that’s beside the point. Harry and I love each other and want to be together. Mum and dad gave us their blessing and if you don’t want to give it then it’s your problem not mind.”

Bill looks at Harry, “Have you been honest with Ginny about the time you spend with Marcie Dillon?”

Harry stares at him, “Marcie Dillon? Mrs. Dillon who I saw about meeting with her daughter?”

Bill throws the Daily Prophet, which showed Harry and Mrs. Dillon meeting in privacy at a muggle café. “If you’re meeting with her about her daughter then why haven’t you said anything about it? Why go to a muggle café to meet her? You meet in secrecy then you start rumors and …”

Harry can’t believe what he’s hearing, “Since when do you believe the trash that you read in the Prophet. If you don’t want to hear the truth, which I’ve never hid from anyone then that’s your problem not mine. Ginny I told you about Mrs. Dillon and her daughter Sasha.”

Ginny picks up the Prophet, “You told me you were going to meet Sasha nothing about meeting Mrs. Dillon in a muggle café.”

Harry throws his hands in the air, “I don’t have to answer to anyone for my actions. I’m of age and I didn’t know I need anyone’s permission to leave the house. I even have my own home and now you’re claiming I need your permission to leave it. I don’t think so because Sasha Dillon is a sick girl who only wanted to meet me and we didn’t want the publicity.”

Remus tries to calm him down, “Harry, let’s just talk about this calmly.”

“Yeah, real calmly with Bill and Ginny accusing me of doing something I shouldn’t with a happily married woman. Mr. Dillon was there at the meeting but putting him in the picture wouldn’t give the paper that great of a story. Ginny I love you but if you don’t trust me I can’t be with you.”

Harry apparates out leaving everyone stunned but Ron and Hermione apparate out after him a few seconds later. They find him at his cottage packing a bag, “Harry, don’t …”

Harry stares at them, “Don’t you dare come here to take their side. I know she’s your sister Ron but they also know how the Prophet has it out for me. I did nothing wrong but they still believe them over me. Where did Bill get it in his head to just go off and accuse me of cheating on Ginny?”

Ron sighs, “I don’t know and it’s not like him to do that. I’m not excusing what he did but going off on Ginny wasn’t a good idea either.”

Harry rolls his eyes, “I’m of age and I have to account for everything I do. I have every right to go off Ron, just go. Your family will probably have kittens if they know you came here. Since I’m not good enough for your family. I love Ginny but I don’t have any reason to account for what I do.”

Hermione saw his bags open on the bed, “Where are you going Harry?”

Harry shrugs, “I don’t know yet.

When Harry and Ginny made their announcement about the baby and engagement, most of the Weasley family had protests to this. Bill who was going to confront Harry about the rumors already was the one who was the one who was pissed off the most. “No, we can’t let you do this. Harry cannot marry you Ginny, he’ll take care of the baby but we won’t allow him …”
Ginny looks at him, “It’s not up to you to decide who I marry Bill. I’ll be of age in less than two weeks but that’s not the point. Harry and I love each other and want to be together. Mum and dad gave their blessing and if you don’t want to give it then that’s your problem not mine.”

Bill looks at Harry, “Have you been honest with her? Did you tell her about you and Marcie?”

“Who? What are you talking about Bill? Who is Marcie?”

Bill shoves the paper he brought with him under Harry’s nose, “This picture in today’s Prophet about you and Marcie Dillon out and about yesterday. Why are you going out with other women if you want to marry my sister?”

Harry shakes his head, “No, that’s not what was going on. Since when do you pay attention to the gossip column? That’s nothing but bull and you know it.”

Ginny took the paper and read it slowly going pale, “Harry, who is she? Why did you go with her and … is it yours?”

Harry turns to her, “Is what mine? I told you where I was yesterday and what I did.”

Ginny shakes her head, “You told me you went to see a sick child nothing about an older pregnant woman. I thought I could trust you and I thought you loved me.”

Harry turns pink, “Ginny I never …”
She took off her engagement ring and threw it at him, “No, leave me alone. I hate you Harry and I never want to see you again. Do you know what else I lied to you this baby … it’s not yours. Leave us alone and go away.”

She ran from the room and Harry apparated out without another word devastated by what happened. He was sure Ginny only said that to hurt him but it didn’t help she wouldn’t listen to him. A minute later Remus and Tonks arrive with Teddy and the ring. “Harry, are you okay?”

Harry shakes his head and goes to pack his stuff. “I told her where I was yesterday. She knows I … she knows I went to see little Daria. How could she believe those papers when …?”

“Well who is that Marcia? It did look like you were together from the picture.”

Harry sighs, “Daria’s mum and I didn’t even know she was pregnant. Daria’s sick and it doesn’t look good for her. Kingsley helped us to meet at a small private café before I went to see Daria. I thought it was a private café at least.”

Remus sat on the bed holding Teddy, “Why didn’t you tell Ginny this? Running away from the Burrow like you did only makes things worse. If you explained why you two were at the café …”

“No, she told me she doesn’t believe me. I thought I loved her but if she doesn’t want me because of a rumor than …” Harry sits on the bed and buries his face in his hands. “I love her and I want to be with her. Why would Bill suddenly believe that I would cheat on Ginny like that?”

Tonks sighs, “Fleur cheated on him and … they’re getting a divorce so I think he’s sour on anyone hurting him or his family.” Harry doesn’t say anything but goes to continue packing. “Harry, where are you going? You can’t leave.”

Harry nods, “Do you think I want to stay here? The only reason I got this place was for my future with Ginny. Without her, I don’t have a reason to be here. Ron and Hermione are engaged, they can have it.”

Remus hands Teddy to Tonks, “Why don’t you take Teddy downstairs and start locking things up so I can talk to Harry for a minute?” When Tonks was downstairs Remus made Harry sit down on the bed. “Talk to me for a minute Harry. Where do you plan on going? Teddy needs his Godfather close by and …”
Harry sighs, “Tonight I’m going to a motel somewhere in the muggle world. I don’t want to be found by anyone for now and eventually I’ll find a flat to rent or something.”

“No, we can’t let you do that. You should come to our flat until you calm down or find a flat. Harry, Tonks will just worry about you and you shouldn’t be alone right now.”

Harry closes his eyes, “How could she believe I would cheat on her? Doesn’t …”
Remus hugs him, “Let things calm down and no one but you have the location to the flat. We still don’t trust visitors and no one will come over unless you’re okay with it first.”

Harry nods, “Thanks but it’ll only be for a night or so. I don’t want to get in your way and you have Teddy to think about too.”

Tonks was in the doorway, “Harry, you’re welcome to stay with us for as long as you need to. Teddy’s lucky to have you in his life and nothing’s going to change that.”

“Thanks Tonks but that still doesn’t change the fact that now thanks to Bill the Weasley’s hates me. None of them tried to stand up for me and I’m sure they believe the worst of me now.”

Remus shakes his head, “Somehow I doubt it and when things calm down you’ll see. Just come stay with us for a couple of days and let things clear up. You won’t have to see anyone or be with anyone you don’t want to.”

Harry smiles, “Thanks, I don’t know what I’d do if I was alone right now. I don’t know who I’m more upset with Bill or Ginny. If she wanted to hurt me then she did it but … why wouldn’t she let me explain?”

Tonks sits with him, “I don’t know but I know Bill must’ve thought something was right about that article. He does not trust anyone right now especially if he thinks they’re cheating on him.”

Harry sighs, “Why pick on me? They swore they would never believe the articles. Ginny didn’t think I’d want to be with her because of those articles and the first time it came in front of us she believed them.”

Remus gets up, “Let’s not think about this tonight. It’s been a long day and we’ll feel better with a good nights sleep. In a couple of days after everything’s calmed down we’ll help you start searching for a flat.” Harry finishes packing things to last a few days before going with Remus and Tonks to their flat. He hated to depend on anyone but knew he shouldn’t be alone. He didn’t know what he was going to do about Bill or Ginny but right then he just wanted to disappear.
