GRYFFINDOR shouted the hat, and the few who had assembled to watch the hat choosing clapped their hands together politely and offered their congratulations.
The headmistress removed the sorting hat and went and had a few words with Poppy and then returned to the bedside and said.
'Madam Pomfey has said that you’re physically fit to leave the hospital wing and that there wasn't much else that can be done until the potion was ready in about two and a half months. S what I plan to do since you have nothing with you is to take you to the school supply room, and issue you with a Gryffindor house uniform, and also look out some text books for you to use (since you will be in sixth year). After you have all the items you require I'll escort you to Gryffindor tower and introduce you to rest of your classmates.'
So Stephen got up and after getting dressed in the same clothes that he'd first appeared in, he followed the headmistress out of the hospital wing and along a long stone corridor and up various staircases, whist they were on one set it unexpectedly moved and didn't stop until it had rejoined itself to the opposite wall to where it had been before.
'I should have warned you' said McGonagall ' watch out for these stairs, has you can see they like to move at odd times, which can be very annoying at times' McGonagall said with a hint of anger in her tone.
After finally getting themselves off the revolving staircase, they finally arrived at the supply room. Stephen was kitted out with the house uniform and a complete set of text books was found for him to use, the professor even managed to find a large black bag for him to use to carry all of his belongings.
'Now, whilst you're here you need to have a name for which I can use to introduce you to your new classmates. Is there any particular name that you like?'
The young man thought for a few moments and then came out with Stephen
'Ok, Stephen it is then,' came back the reply. 'Follow me.'
The two of them walked up and down so many corridors that Stephen thought that they seemed to be getting no where. Finally after walking what seemed like miles (and he was used to travelling in a different way) the both of them finally arrived outside the Gryffindor tower common room. Stephen saw nothing but a large portrait of a fat lady staring down at him. What surprised him even more was the fact that the figure in the painting was moving. And he received an even bigger shock when the portrait spoke to them,
Stephens’s reactions had not gone unnoticed by the headmistress.
'There are a lot of things that you'll need to get used to while you are here. But until we know more about you and where you’re from it would be a good idea if you tried to blend in and not attract too much attention.'
Stephen nodded his head and said 'yes professor.'
'Password' repeated the fat lady sounding just a little bit impatient at the two people standing before her.
McGonagall turned back to the fat lady and said 'sorry, BAGPUSS.' The portrait swung open to reveal a doorway into which the professor entered with Stephen following close behind.
They walked down what looked like a short hall way until the two of them emerged into a large room which had a large number of sofas and armchairs and several table that were scattered around the room. Turning Professor McGonagall said with pride in her voice.
'Welcome to the Gryffindor common room.'
