Harry, Hermione and Ron stepped over the threshold and into a room completely filled with things other people didn’t want found. Harry turned to the other two. “Okay, we’re looking for a tiara with the Ravenclaw eagle on it. I think it’d be best if we split up. I remember it was over towards the far right. It’s on top of a white wig, which is on top of a marble bust. Okay, let’s go. I’ll go right, Hermione goes straight and Ron to the left.”
Hermione ran down the aisle ahead of her being sure to look for a marble statue with a white wig on it. As she continued down the aisles, she recalled all the memories she had with Draco, from when they decided to be together to when they had talked about marriage after Hogwarts. She knew that Draco really did love her, everyone would definitely kill them though if they knew they were together.
Hermione smiled as she thought about the day back in their sixth year at the top of the astronomy tower.
“Draco! What is it? Why do I have to be blindfolded?” Hermione tried to wriggle her hands out of his grasp but he didn’t let her budge.
“Just trust me; you’ll be glad you did.” Draco led Hermione up the last few steps to the Astronomy tower, and kissed her gently behind the ear. “Okay you can take the blindfold off now.”
Hermione pushed the blindfold off and looked around in amazement. There, in the corner of the tower was a blanket adorned with roasted chicken, blackberry pie, baked potatoes and cranberry sparkling cider in wine glasses.
“Draco, did you do all this for me?”
“You ‘betcha; what other girl would I do it for?”
“Pansy Parkinson maybe?” Hermione smiled as sweetly as she could and Draco laughed.
“Sure, riiight. Like I would even hold her hand. C’mere.” He pulled her into a huge bear hug and kissed her on top of her head. “Now, c’mon, let’s eat.” Both Draco and Hermione sat down and began to devour the roasted chicken Draco had got from the house elves in the kitchen.
For basically the whole time they ate, they laughed and talked about all the crazy things they had done and the good and bad memories. Both of them had been silent for a while when Draco had spoken up. “Hey ‘Mi? I need to tell you something.” Draco fiddled with his watch as he looked down nervously.
“Okay, shoot. What is it?”
“Well, you have to promise me that you won’t say anything. Even to Potter and Weasley okay?”
“Okay? This must be pretty serious huh?”
“Well, yeah, it is. So, do you promise?”
“Cross my heart, hope to die.” Draco took a deep breath and pulled up the sleeve on his left arm. Hermione covered her mouth with her hand.
“Draco, but…why? How could you do this?”
“Trust me, I didn’t want to. I didn’t have a choice. V-Vol-Volde-The Darth Lord said he would kill my family. You know how close I am to my mother. I had to. What if he found out about us, he would kill both of us?”
Well, that’s okay; I’m kinda already under a death sentence because of my muggle-born status.”
“Well, it’s not okay for me. I don’t think I could handle losing you.” Hermione slapped him playfully and blushed.
“Oh, stop being so mushy. That’s weird.”
“Your face is weird. Wow…we’re so immature.”
“Tell me about it. You know, I’ve just gotta say one thing.”
“I’m going to marry you someday.”
“Oh you are, are you?”
“Yeah, exactly! And you know what else?”
“No I don’t so I’d like it if you told me.”
“Well, I wouldn’t even care if you were pregnant right now with my child. I would see it as the happiest day of my life. I’d leave school, buy a house, and you and I would raise the kid together. I mean, it’d be great! And it wouldn’t even matter if you were pregnant with my kid and we weren’t married. I’m not gonna sleep with anyone else, and we’d get married eventually, and basically grow old together.”
“Wow, that was some soliloquy.” Hermione laid her on Draco’s chest as he wrapped an arm around her and stroked her hair; she fell asleep.”
Hermione got to the end of her aisle when she heard voices just around the corner. She rounded it when she heard Crabbe yell, “”It’s that filthy mudblood!” She saw a flash of green light coming toward her, she jumped aside as the curse missed her my inches.
She looked out from behind the boxes she jumped behind to see Draco, her Draco, struggling with Crabbe, trying to hold him back.
Suddenly, the fight broke out. Ron came bounding from the other direction and tackled Crabbe. Harry and Goyle were shooting spells at each other. Hermione raced towards Draco and started throwing poorly aimed spells at him.
Suddenly, Harry and Ron were yelling at her to come towards them. She looked behind her and saw Crabbe trying to unsuccessfully control Fiend Fire. She hopped onto the back of Ron’s broom. They picked up Goyle on the way out of the burning room. They flew out the door and landed with a crash on the floor outside.
About a minute later, Harry and Draco came flying out and crashed into the opposite wall. Hermione was trying to hold back from running over to Draco and brushing the hair out of his face.
Harry brushed the soot off of himself. “Wow, Crabbe is such an idiot.” Ron agreed, then the Horcrux that Harry grabbed on the way out, screamed, and black ooze started to leak out of it.
The boys were ecstatic and started to run down the hall. “Hermione, aren’t you coming?”
“I’ll catch up with you in a little bit. You just go ahead. I’ll find you. Promise.” Harry and Ron shrugged, then ran down the hall and rounded the corner.
Hermione ran over to Draco’s body and dropped to her knees. She didn’t care if Goyle was conscious or not. All she wanted was that her boyfriend was alright. Tears dripped onto his chest. He was bleeding pretty badly on his shoulder. Hermione took out her wand and held it over Draco’s cut shoulder “Vulnera Sanentur.” The wound slowly started to heal as the blood went back into Draco’s shoulder. Hermione brushed the hair out of his eyes as still more tears fell from her eyes. “Everything’ okay, it’s gonna be alright.”
Draco sat up a little bit and with his finger wiped away some of Hermione’s tears. She broke into a watery smile.
“It’s okay ‘Mi. I’m okay. Stop worrying so much. You’re going to get worry lines, and you’re way too young for that.” Draco smiled and pushed a curl behind her ear. Hermione flung her arms around his neck as Draco sat up fully. He cradled her in his arms and brought her to his lap. He brought his lips crashing onto hers. They fit perfectly together. They moved as one as Hermione rushed her fingers through his sleek blonde hair. Draco broke away and stroked Hermione’s cheek. “Guess what?”
“I love you.”
“I know that Dray! I love you too.” Hermione put a huge smile on her face and gave Draco a quick peck on the lips.
“You know, I’m still going to marry you.”
“That’s a good thing then.”
Yeah…it is—wait, why is it a good thing?”
Well, because, I’m, well, I’m p-p-pregnant. With your kid. I tried to tell you earlier but then the whole thing with Voldemort happened. Please don’t be mad.”
“Mad? You think I’d be mad? Remember when I told you it would be the greatest news of my life, well it still is.” He broke out into a huge smile.
“I found out a couple weeks ago. Remember when you took me out from the dungeon at your house to try and heal me?” Draco nodded. “Well, that’s where this kid came from.” Hermione smiled shyly and looked down.
“So this isn’t a joke right?”
“No, of course not.”
“Wow, I can’t believe it. I’m going to be a dad!”
“We’re just going to have to tell our parents about this, but as long as we work together I think we can do it. Don’t you think?”
“Yeah, I do. Now to get to business. I don’t think there’s a better time than now to do this.” Draco pulled a diamond ring out of his pocket and held it up to her. “So this is for you. Will you marry me ‘Mi?”
“Well, duh! Of course. I was beginning to think you’d never ask.” Draco slipped the ring on her finger. Hermione fell into his warm embrace. Draco kissed her neck softly as he fully hugged her.
Hermione pulled away from him and looked at her ring. “Wow, this is beautiful, but what are we going to do about the baby and our parents?” Draco stood up and held out both of his hands for her to take. She took them and stood.
Draco took hold of both of her shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes. “We’re not going to worry about it right now, okay? We’re going to fight this battle, and we’re going to live. Now, you should go find St. Potter and the Weasel…”
“Don’t call them that.”
“Right, sorry. You’ll go find Potter and Weasley, and I’ll do my best to look like I’m on Voldie’s side but fight for you guys.” Hermione nodded and a few tears fell from her face.
Draco pulled her into a hug as she cried into his shoulder. “Okay ‘Mi, you’ll be fine.” He kissed her lips softly and she started to walk away. Then he called after her. “Hey, take care of my baby okay?” Hermione smiled through tears and nodded. Draco smiled too.
“Hey, I love you,” he said after her again. She mouthed, “Love you too,” back at him and went to find Harry and Ron.
