Roxanne and I have spent the entire night writing a list. The boys also helped. They had overheard the conversation and wanted to help me. They all agree that dad needed to learn a lesson, so they helped. In the end, we came up with ten things dad would absolutely hate if I ever did. This was my goals for the year. I had to do all of the things, and get caught doing it. Why? Because dad wouldn’t know I did it if I wasn’t not caught in the act. Now, all I had to do was complete the goals. Want to see the list? I’ll show it to you. I couldn’t let him now that.
Ten ways to make dad angry:
1. Scream something totally inappropriate to our headmistress and teachers.
2. Come to class in nothing but a nigh gown.
3. Openly say a lot of bad things about the ministry in front of the minister of magic
4. Get in a relationship with a Slytherin who has a very bad reputation.
5. Wear lots of makeup and dress up in a very short dress. In other words, look like a slut.
6. Get in a fight with a prefect or a head.
7. Do something totally reckless that could hurt me severally.
8. Get a tattoo
9. Get very drunk.
10. Snog somebody senseless.
The list was amazing. My dad would hate these things, and I was going to complete them all. Number 3 had to be done at Halloween, as that was the only time the minister of magic would be present. The others could be done whenever I wanted to. Honestly, I dreaded the last 5 ones. They were definitely the worst, but also those who would make dad angriest. I had to complete all of them. This was going to be very funny.
The Hogwarts Express left King Cross station. We had waved goodbye to our parents, and was now looking for a compartment. Lucky for us, Louis had found us one. We went into the compartment and put our briefcases on the shelf above us. Louis had to help me with mine. I was a bit too short to get in up on my own. We sat down and started to talk about the new school year. The boys, James, Carter and Fred, soon joined us in our compartment. We had just left the station, when I told them about my list and goals. The boys, minus Louis, knew about the list already, but not all the goals, though.
“Really? You’re going to show up in class in nothing but a night gown. I wish I was in your class. The teachers face is going to be priceless,” Carter said and laughed. That’s Carter for you. I gave him a list where I was going to get drunk and snog someone, but what he cared about was the fact that I was going to show up in class in nothing but a nigh gown. He sure was funny, and I couldn’t help but blush a little. Don’t ask me why! I had no idea. Fred, Louis and James didn’t seem to think that was funny at all. They looked rather angry.
“If you think I’m going to let a Slytherin with bad reputation anywhere near you, then you’re wrong,” Fred said. Louis agreed right away. I swear those boys needed to have more fun, and not act all big brothers on me. I could take care of myself. Roxanne and I shared a look. Honestly, we didn’t need them to protect us. We were fine on our own.
“Boys. Lucy can take care of herself. Besides, it’s not like she has to do anything or even be in contact with him. Just become his boyfriend,” Roxanne said. It’s sweet how she protects me. Have I told you how much I love that girl? Well, I love her a lot.
“Actually, one of the goals was to snog someone senseless. Then you have to be in contact,” Carter said. I gave him my best glare. Idiot! He couldn’t keep his mouth shut. My cousins started to talk all at once. All three refused to let me do that with a boy. They said that the boy would be killed right away and that they would tell my father if I completed it. Like they could stop me! I would find a way. I don’t know how, but I would find one way. They couldn’t protect me forever.
We had, luckily, changed the subject of our discussion quite fast. That was a good thing. It might have ended in an argument otherwise. Well anyway, we were talking about Quidditch. Guess whose idea that was? Yes, it was James! We talked about teams, and who we thought would win this year. My guess was on the Holyhead Harpies. They were a great team.
Halfway through our discussion, Louis had to go. He had been made a prefect, and had a meeting now. Thank god, I had one good friend. Roxanne is good too, but not academically. She is more of a good friend, and awesome Quidditch player.
I was tired of the endless discussion about Quidditch teams. I am a Quidditch fan, but it gets a bit boring after a while. Not the game, but the talking. That gets very boring. Anyway, I decided to buy some sweets. The trolley was a little down the corridor, but that was no problem. I just walked over to it.
I was on my way back when it happened. The door to a compartment flew open, and one boy came out. He was big, strong and a Slytherin. I recognized him as 7th year, and big enemy of my cousins. It was probably more like the whole family. Nobody really liked him. He was mean and thought it was to fun to treat others like dirt. I resented that! I can’t really understand how he became head boy. McGonagall must have been drunk when she decided that!
He stopped when he noticed me. “Isn’t that the little Weasley girl? Where are your little protectors? I can’t see them anywhere,” the boy, Amon Hunter
, said. I knew who he meant. Hunter
always called my cousins for my protectors. He was kind of right. They always fought my battles for me. It was like they were scared I would break if I did it on my own, but I wouldn’t. I could handle fine by myself.
“Did they leave you alone? Little Weasley is all alone. That’s too bad. You never know what can happen when you’re alone,” he continued. He had walked a little forward, and was dangerously close to me right now. I backed away, being scared. I might seem like the brave one, but even I have my fears. Hunter
is my fear. Not because he is big, scary and would probably hurt me, but because he is totally in love
He had been in love with me since first year, and always bugged me. He always picked fights with my cousins, and pulled his pranks on me and my family. He did absolutely everything to get my attention, but the problem was my cousins. They were always around me, but not now. I was all alone. I had left them in our compartment, and was therefore completely unprotected.
dragged me into his compartment and closed the door. I tried to fight back, but he was too strong. It was probably all the muscles from Quidditch. Hunter
turned around and looked at me. The expression on his face was filled with evil and longing. Oh no. This was not going to end well. I backed away until I felt my back against the wall in the compartment. I had absolutely nowhere to go. I was all alone, and defenceless. That gave me only one option. Fight like my life depended on it! It probably did as well.
I hit him. Really hard too. The only problem was that my hand now hurt like hell. I had probably broken it or something. Hunter
looked angry, very angry. He stepped closer to me with a dangerous expression. I tried to hit him again, but he caught my hand and pushed me against the wall. I tried to twist my head so he would reach it. It was no help. He just forced my face around. He looked at me for a second, and then pushed his lips against mine. It happened so fast and I was completely frozen. I heard my cousins yelling my name in the corridor, and it woke me. I managed to free my hand a little and hit him right in the face. He backed away, rubbing his cheek. It was red. I was a pretty good fighter, I must say. Unfortunately, I had now broken the other hand as well. That meant I was, once again, defenceless.
Lucky for me, that was the moment my cousins entered our compartment. They looked from Hunter
s red cheek, to my red hand. I think they were putting two and two together. Suddenly, the boys turned towards Hunter
. They looked very angry, and pulled out their wands. Roxanne pushed past them, and hurried over to me.
“Are you okay?” she asked concerned. I nodded, but doubted she believed that. I was probably looking like a mess right now. The boys listened intently, but kept their eyes on Hunter
. “What happened?” Roxy asked. I sighed. I guess I would have to tell.
over there pushed me into his compartment and closed the door. Then he pushed me into the wall, and I hit him,” I said. It was only half the story, but I could see that my cousins were already quite angry. Hunter
didn’t look scared, though.
“I tried to hit him again, but he caught my hand. Then he pushed my hands away, and the he kissed me,” I explained. I tried to make it sound like it didn’t matter, but it didn’t help much. My cousins looked fit to kill. I should probably have stopped halfway through the story, and dropped the kiss
. This was not looking good for Hunter
. It’s not like he doesn’t deserve it, but still. I can’t help but have a little compassion with him. I think I’m too nice. Honestly, he deserves it like hell.
I had managed to talk my cousins out of killing. They had settled with beating. It was not exactly what I wanted, but it was better than getting them to Azkaban.
We went back to our compartments after Roxy and I had changed to our uniforms. The boys were already in there, talking about something. They stopped talking when we walked in, and that made us believe that they were talking about us. It could be just one of us as well. It was not necessarily both. “Hey, you two,” Louis said. We jumped down in the seat next to him. “Hey,” I mumbled back. My hands were still hurting like hell, and I couldn’t do anything about them before we were at Hogwarts. I just hoped they weren’t too broken.
“You know, Luce. I think you just did a thing on the list. Wasn’t one of them to be in fight with a prefect or head?” Roxanne asked after some seconds of silence. That was right. The list! I had completely forgotten it after the thing with Hunter
“Yes, but I wasn’t caught doing it. That means I will have to do it again,” I answered. Irritating really. I had just done a goal, but I wasn’t caught. That meant I would have to fight Hunter
or any other prefect or head again. Speaking of prefects, the beautiful Talia Baker just entered our compartment. Want to know something about Talia? She is little-miss-perfect. I always though Rose would take first place there, but Talia is even worse. I didn’t even think that was possible! She is medium high, slim and has dark brown hair. Her grades are perfect; she is the teacher’s favourite, beautiful and always doing as she is told. I didn’t even think it was possible to be as perfect as her. Was there one thing wrong about her? I wouldn’t know. I’m not exactly her friend, more like an acquaintance. Well anyway, why was she in our compartment? Well, like I mentioned earlier. She was dating Carter. Honestly, I thought he was way too good for her, but apparently he didn’t think so. Talia hurried over to her boyfriend, and kissed him. James and Fred made funny sounds; Roxanne coughed extremely loud, Louis whistled lightly, while I rolled my eyes. It was not like we hadn’t seen that before either. They did that every time they were together. Disgusting, really.
The rest of the train ride went slowly. Talia and Carter made out the entire time, and Fred and James were watching them with jealousy. Stupid brats. Why didn’t they just find themselves girlfriends then! It’s not that hard. I found it funny that I was saying that. I just got my first kiss about an hour ago, and the guy I kissed was my biggest enemy. I can’t let him know that it was my first kiss, though. Then he would think he was special, and he was not. That was why he couldn’t know about that.
Roxanne and I played dare. It was a game where we dared each other to do stupid things. It was fun until I had to ask the lady with the trolley where she brought her underwear. She had hit me with sweets. Louis had laugh quite a bit at that. One the bright side, I got free sweets. It was funny though. The lady with the trolley will never be the same to me again.
We reached the castle after the long train ride. Louis had to sit in the prefects’ carriage, so Roxanne and I was on our own. We hurried out to the station. There were many students out on the platform. First years was running around like crazy. They looked pretty small. I couldn’t believe I had once been that low. Clearly, I must have been tall for my age. That was probably the answer. I sighed and pushed my way through the big group of students. The carriages stood ready right outside the platform. Roxanne dragged me into the carriage, and we were soon joined by three other students. This was apparently not my lucky day. It was Boyle, Parkinson and Hunter
who joined us.
They were all Slytherins, and our enemies. I sighed. This was going to be one long ride.
I spent the entire ride watching the Thestrals. Yes, I could see them. My cousin was brutally murdered right before Uncle Angus’s wedding. It was a muggle man who angry at my cousin for breaking up with him, and therefore decided to kill her. I was only seven at the time, and was suppose to be a bridesmaid. Unfortunately, I had been with my cousin when she was shot. The wedding was cancelled after that. I had never told anyone about the fact that I can see Thestrals. I don’t know why. I just don’t think it’s that important, I guess. Well anyway, over to the Slytherins. Boyle was looking out the window, Parkinson was glaring at Roxy, and Hunter
was staring intently at me. I thought I had hurt him more, but apparently not. He looked alright to me, but I on the other hand. I had two broken hands. I looked up. Hunters
stare made me uncomfortable, and Roxy didn’t seem to feel quite welcome either. The moment the carriage stopped in front of the school was the happiest moment in my life. Roxy and I hurried out of the carriage and into the school. I have never run that fast to school before. Thank god it was finally over. The disastrous ride to Hogwarts was finally finished!
