One week later
Ronald Weasley was not the most patient man in the world and he was getting annoyed of the amount of work he had to do. His entire room at the Burrow was covered in paper from the auror office. Ron was staying at the Burrow because Hermione had thrown him out of the flat the used to share. Sometimes Ron thought it was his fault that he was thrown out. If he hadn't of slept with Lavender Brown, then Hermione would not have over reacted. But that girl should really put out. Ron and Hermione had dated for just over 3 ½ years and , as far as Ron knew, Hermione was still a virgin. As Ron mulled this over there was a shout from his Mother, from downstairs.
" RON! WE HAVE GUESTS! DON'T BE RUDE AND GET DOWN HERE!" Man that woman had a good pair of lungs on her. She was almost fifty. But guests should be fuuun! (A/N- Sarcasm much?) Ron thought as he made his way downstairs.
Hermione took out her ear-buds, turned off her I-pod and looked around at what she had thought of as her sanctuary after finishing Hogwarts. In some part of her brain, and maybe in her heart, Hermione still thought of the burrow as her 'home'. The people it housed were the only family she had left. She never did find her parents in Australia. She shook that thought off as it was thoughts like that that made her cry. Suddenly she was attacked by a very heavily pregnant Mrs. Ginny Potter. Ginny was nearly 6 feet tall so she towered over Hermione's petite frame of 5 foot 7, so Hermione put her head on Ginny's shoulder.
" Hey, Gin'. How ya' been? Long time no see."Hermione breathed into the ear of her sister for all intents and purposes. Ginny promptly burst into peals of laughter.
"Well, nah 'Mione. You work constantly and you just broke up with my Dolt of a brother. You haven’t seen any one in a while." She laughed back. Ginny let go of Hermione so George could hug her, , then Bill and Charlie and then the rest of the Weasley clan, including little Teddy Lupin. This carried on until only Ron remained, standing at the bottom of the stairs. He was going from glaring murderously at Harry to looking at Hermione with a look of utter and complete confusion on his face. Hermione looked at him from under her lashes.
"Erm, hi Ron?"
Shouts and laughter came from every person at the table. Every person but one. Ron was just sitting in the corner and staring at his almost untouched plate with a vacant expression on his face. This was highly unusual behaviour for , you know, him, but Hermione was the only one who noticed. She was stealing glances at him when no one was looking. She was beginning to regret letting Harry talk her into coming here.
" Hey Hermione." Bill shouted over the racket the rest of his family was making.
"Yeah? Wassup?" She asked around a mouthful of 's delicious mashed potato.
"How come you chose today to come over for dinner? I mean it's not like we aren't all happy you did. I'm just wondering." By now every face in the room, including Ron's, was turned to Hermione and every pair of ears were listening intently for her answer. The room was deadly silent. Hermione ran her hand through her hair as she thought, making it frizz up more. She looked around the table a few times before she answered.
"Well... I needed to give Molly her birthday present as I wont be here for her birthday, I'm on a business trip with Malfoy." There were murmurs of disapproval all around the room as they all thought about the repercussions of a Hermione/Malfoy business trip. Then Hermione trained her eyes on Ron's face as she said, loud and clear so everyone could hear her. "And it's just sooo nice to have a proper, home cooked, delicious dinner with my friends."Every face around the table beamed at her. Well, apart from Ron(again). He just looked confused.
