Hugo's face was nearly as red as his hair. His eyes were puffy from crying so much. He slid his hands over his face, letting out small sobs. In his hand was a picture of Scorpius and himself. Hugo's small arms were wrapped around the Malfoy's neck and the two were staring into each others eyes.
“Scorpius! You can't do this...what about us? What about me....?” Hugo gazed at Scorpius, his heart breaking into two. The one person that had ever loved him, the one guy that made him feel safe, was leaving. He was leaving him. His eyes closed. He couldn't look at Scorpius's face anymore.
“Hugo...I need the ring back.” Hugo's eyes trailed up to the taller boy standing in front of him. The red head was on his knees, his arms wrapped tightly around himself. A sob escaped his lips as he pulled his left hand into his right. He took one last look at the ring that had changed his life – that had confirmed that Scorpius loved Hugo the same as Hugo loved Scorpius. He wrenched it from his finger and threw it at the boy, his sobs growing louder.
In his other hand, Hugo held an envelope. The red head withdrew the letter from its case, finding it to be something horrible – dreadful. A wedding invitation. The wedding had already passed – the couple had already married. He hadn't attended the wedding at all because he was too afraid; too in love with the groom to even think of going to his own sister's wedding.
I heard that you're settled down.
That you found a girl and you're married now.
I heard that your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you.
Hugo's eyes seemed to go into a gaze as he took the picture of him and his ex in both hands. He threw the wedding invitation down onto the ground, stomping on it. Though short, Hugo was a strong boy. He threw the picture at the wall, watching the glass shatter all over. He walked away from the scene, not planning on cleaning up the mess until later.
The red head stopped for a moment, then grasped his coat, tugging it onto himself. He hesitated for a moment before deciding what he was planning to do. He held his wand and pictured the new house that Hugo and Rose's father had bought for Rose and her new husband. When he opened his eyes again, he was standing in front of that very place.
“Take it! I don't need you! I never needed you!” Hugo screamed at the top of his lungs. His heart hammered rapidly against his rib cage, threatening a breakage. Scorpius's eyes were full of sadness, but Hugo knew it was all a lie. Had he lied about everything? “Did...did you ever even love me? Or was I just your little play toy?” Hugo's eyes begged for the truth, he needed the truth.
“I loved you, Hugo. But I love someone else now, and I can't help how I feel. I have to leave. I need to.” Scorpius spoke, his blue eyes capturing everything in the clearing except Hugo. His eyes shut for a moment before opening again. “I can't do this, Hugo.” And with that, he left.
I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited.
But I couldn't stay away I couldn't fight it.
I'd hoped you'd see my face & that you'd be reminded.
That for me it isn't over.
The boy took a deep breath before knocking on the door of the house. He stepped back a couple of paces, waiting for someone to answer the door. He prayed that it wouldn't be Rose. He couldn't face her yet. Hugo knew he would break down if he saw the two together.
The door opened and a tall, blonde haired boy came into the doorway. His eyes widened as he saw Hugo. The two boys stared at each other for a moment before Rose appeared by his side. “Scorpius, who is it, dear?” She stopped as she saw her little brother, staring at her husband. Hugo's eyes turned, colliding with his sister's. “Hugo....” She began, though she didn't finish her sentence.
Scorpius cleared his throat before beckoning for Hugo to enter the house. And he did so. The house smelled new and sweet. Rose led her brother to the kitchen. “Anything to drink, Hugh?” Hugo shook his head gently, keeping his eyes on Scorpius.
Never mind I'll find someone like you.
I wish nothing but the best for you too.
Don't forget me I beg I remember you said:-
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead"
Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead yeah.
“I came here to wish you two the best.” Hugo gulped back the tears that were threatening to erupt. He had to be strong. He had to do this, for him, for Rose, for Scorpius. His eyes closed for a moment as he forced the horrible thoughts to the back of his head. “Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead. So, I wish you two the best,” Hugo whispered, quoting what Scorpius used to tell him.
Nothing compares no worries or cares.
Regret's and mistakes they're memories made.
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
Scorpius and Rose exchanged glanced before a smile curled onto Hugo's sister's lips. “Thank you, Hugh. You don't know how-”
“Save it,” Hugo whispered, looking up at his sister. “Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?” His eyes shot to Scorpius, then back to Rose.
Hugo's eyes widened, and this time, he couldn't hold back the tears. On Rose's finger was the ring that Scorpius had given him...his ring...the ring that showed that Scorpius wanted to marry Hugo...not the ring that represented his love for Rose.
The red head struggled to keep the tears from covering his cheeks, but he just couldn't. How dare Scorpius do something so horrible to him. Hugo had a feeling he'd never heal again. Would he ever even talk to his sister again? That horrible woman, that stole away the love of his life.
“Hugo, please...I'm sorry....” Rose whispered, tears showing in her eyes. Hugo looked up, but he didn't look at her, he looked at Scorpius.
