'And while all that is going on, what are we going to do with him for the next two months?' asked Poppy.
'We may have no choice but to enrol him as a student here at the school Poppy' said McGonagall. 'Since we cannot keep him here for the whole two months, it would certainly raise a few questions. So what I propose to do is this, school has just started so what I'll do is tomorrow morning I'll get the sorting hat and bring it along to the hospital wing and we'll sort him into a house and take it from there, but I have a funny feeling that this is no ordinary boy. He has shown that he has powers that could be just as (if not) more powerful as our powers are.'
And with that the mystery boy was left to sleep and Poppy went into her room, closed her curtains and prepared herself for bed.
Meanwhile MacGonagall made her way through the maze of corridors and headed in the direction of the Gryffindor common room. Upon reaching her destination she gave the fat lady her own personal password and the portrait swung open and the headmistress stepped into the sitting room area where she came across James still sitting and still looking rather shaken about the boy’s sudden appearance. When James looked up and saw who had arrived he started to get up, but was ushered to sit down again by the headmistress with a wave of her hand. MacGonagall sat down beside him on the settee and said,
'How are you feeling Potter?'
'Not to bad professor, still feeling a little shaky but that's starting to fade away. Who was that boy who suddenly appeared like that?'
'Well Potter, I'll tell you but what you hear must be kept secret, you must not tell another soul about it. Do I have your solemn word of honour that you will not say a word to anyone else?'
'Yes professor I give you my word.'
'Good, now listen carefully to what I say.'
So MacGonagall told James everything about what had happened and what the mysterious boy had said and also about the amnesia and what the wand examination had revealed about him being a person of a similar nature as a wizard but with totally different powers, powers that no witch or wizard has, he could even (and we don't know this for sure yet) be more powerful than anyone in this school. Well it could be a couple of months before we can find out exactly who he is and where he comes from. But for now he's sleeping in the hospital wing and since school has just began I intend to sort him with the sorting hat tomorrow and I have a funny feeling that there will be some interesting results.
The next day dawned bright and sunny; there was hardly a cloud in the sky, all though there was a slight chill in the air, but by the time the sun was high in the sky the chill would have been removed with the heat of the noon sun.
The stranger woke up and yawned and stretched himself at the same time. Sitting up he was able for the first time to look around him and take in his surroundings. He was alone in the hospital wing; he couldn't see the two ladies anywhere about, which gave him sometime to think.
He hadn't wanted to lie about who he was last night, but he'd been sent on a very important mission and until he was sure about whom his friends were, he had to maintain an aura of ignorance around himself. And if that meant feigning amnesia for the time being so be it. He sat up in his bed and closed his eyes and then he opened his mind and started to thought think to himself.
'Are you there?'
There was no answer.
'Are you there? can you hear me speaking?' He said again.
'Yes I hear you,' came back a reply, sounding uneasy. 'Who are you?'
'We are a small group of beings, who have been blessed with a unique set of talents, what we're doing just now is one of the talents. We suspect that you yourself are also one of us.'
'Who exactly are you?'
'We are the next step in human evolution. We are called Homo Superior. We call ourselves THE TOMORROW PEOPLE. Would it be possible to meet with you so that we can discuss the situation and I can explain things in more detail.’?
'I would like to think things through before I decide, this has been quite a shock to me you know.
'Okay, it looks like I'll be hanging around for a while anyway, so please get in touch at any time if you have any questions. By the way, my name is Stephen.'
'And how do I get in touch with you Stephen?'
'Well you just focus your mind and concentrate, and then you start to focus your mind and then you start to think to yourself and your thoughts are projected out and I'll pick up them up and then I piece them together and I hear you talking, just like as if I was standing in front of you and talking normally to you. It's called TELEPATHY. I'll go now and leave you to think things over, bye.
When Stephen had finished with his thought conversation he lay back on his bed. He was just mulling over what had occurred when the doors at the other end of the room opened and the headmistress walked in and strode over to his bed. She carried what looked like an old floppy hat in her right hand, and when she was standing by his bed she started to explain what it was that was going to happen.
'I'll be placing this hat on your head (it's a magical hat) and it will pick up on your thoughts and place you in a house accordingly.'
'What do you mean?' Stephen asked.
'I've decided that the best thing to do for the time being (until things are sorted out) would be to enrol you in the school. And this is the sorting hat, and once it's on your head it will determine what house you belong to and that's where you'll stay for the duration of your visit.'
'Ok' Stephen replied sitting up on his bed.
And the hat was duly placed on his head and all at once the hat tightened and Stephen jumped slightly.
'AH, AH, AH' said the hat 'what have we got here? There is something different about you that I've never seen before; the powers that you possess are unique to your people alone. But hold on I tell a lie, I sense something. Yes, I sorted someone with similar powers to you yesterday.'
'Please don't say a word' thought Stephen.
'Don't say a word eh. Ok, but for the benefit of what you have to do I think you should go into...................
Sorry about the cliffie. But please review.
