Hello, my name is Professor Cuthbert Binns. This is my memory of the making of Hogwarts. I, of course, was there because I am old. Anyway, let’s get on with the memory. Hope you like it. x
Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin were sat in The No Broomsticks Pub in Hogsmeade. Yes, it did used to be The No Broomsticks pub because they didn’t have any broomsticks. They were talking to each other because that is what usually happens in there.
“God, have you see the land up there, dude?”
Just so that you know, they all had nicknames. Salazar isn’t actually talking to the God, but, in fact, Godric Gryffindor.
“What land, Sal?” replied Godric.
“The bit just up the road,” Salazar replied.
“Oh, yeah, it looks pretty cool and empty.”
“I think we should make it full and build a school there,” interjected Helga.
“Omwizg, that is such a good idea, Hel,” said the brain box, Rowena, “I always thought that you were the best at finding solutions.”
“Yeah, but she is totally boring.”
“Don’t be a meany, Sal! Or I will set Roarz on you.”
Godric pointed at his pet lion that he kept close to him on a retractable lead.
“Roaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!” said Roarz.
“He said that he doesn’t want you bringing him into this,” supplied Rowena, cleverly.
“Shush, Row, he doesn’t need a translator,” replied Godric, harshly.
“I was just helping, dude, do it yourself next time.”
“I will!”
“Anyway, let’s go and build an awesome school.”
They walked up to the big space and waved their wands and a school appeared.
“That was easy.” Godric seemed impressed with the little amount of effort needed. “What should we call it?”
Rowena grabbed a passing rabbit and read its name tag.
“Hogwarts,” she said.
“Sounds good to me,” replied Godric.
“I think we should get some kids to teach.”
“Good point, Sal,” replied Helga, “but where do we find them?”
“They will come.”
Suddenly a few students started walking towards the school.
“See, I was right.”
Salazar seemed impressed by his seeing ability. Helga rolled her eyes.
“I know,” said Rowena, sounding excited, “we should have houses for the kids to be in, and we could use our surnames for the names of the houses.”
“That’s brilliant!” Helga remarked.
A few more students made their way up towards the school.
“How do we know what house we are in?” one of the students asked.
“Each of you will be tested. You will be sorted based on the results,” Salazar decided.
“Sounds good. What are the tests?”
“Now, now, that would be telling,” Rowena said. She always was the clever one.
The four founders led the students into the hall which already had four house tables in it. The students sat down on one of the tables and waited for the tests.
“Ok, we need to discuss the questions on this test. Just have a chat while we do.”
While the founders were creating the tests, more students entered the hall.
The founders came back a bit later with a test designed to find out how a person thinks. They told all the students to spread out and answer it truthfully.
Now, this is where I tell you the truth. I was one of the first students to arrive at Hogwarts. In fact, I was the one who asked what houses we will be in. Now, on to the test.
This test will sort you into a house. The answers are what each of us would have done.
1) Someone runs at you with a sword. Do you:
a. Grab your sword and start fighting
b. Think you are better than them
c. Try to think of a way to get out of this situation
d. Run away screaming and find someone to help
2) You have a test coming up soon. Do you:
a. Go fight a dragon. Hey, I am brave, what else would I be doing?
b. Don’t bother studying for it because you think you can do anything
c. Spend all the time between then and the test studying so hard that you will be able to blurt out answers without even thinking
d. Study a bit and hope that you get through it
3) The curtains around your friend’s bed are on fire. Do you:
a. Start trying to put them out
b. Let them burn, whatever! It is not your bed
c. Try to think of the best possible method to put them out
d. Run off and find someone to help
4) A popular student is playing music that you hate. Do you:
a. Tell them to turn it off or you will have to duel them
b. Throw the person out of the window
c. Think of a way to stop the music without the person knowing
d. Sit there and suffer
5) You have detention in the Forbidden Forest. Do you:
a. Go in without any fear
b. Protest, saying that you shouldn’t be made to do such silly things
c. Research the things that could be living in there and learn to defend yourself against them
d. Scream at the thought of it
Now add up the amount of each letter that you selected.
Once all the students had finished, the four founders told them where to go.
“If you answered mostly A, come to me,” called Godric, “You are now Gryffindors.”
“If you answered mostly B, come to me,” called Salazar, “You are now Slytherins.”
“If you answered mostly C, come to me,” called Rowena, “You are now Ravenclaws.”
“If you answered mostly D, come to me,” called Helga, “You are now Hufflepuffs.”
The students moved over to the founders that represented the houses they now belonged to.
Where was I you ask? I was a Hufflepuff. *sigh* It never was an entertaining house. Quite boring really. Oh well, we used to find a lot of things out. They were quite nosey people sometimes, though they never showed it.
Each of the Founders chose a place in the school where the students that were in their houses could now sleep. Soon they had started lessons and were settling down.

A/N: I hope I didn't bore you too much or make you want to claw your eyes out. I still can't believe I managed to finish that. It took a lot of breaks to do it =P Oh, and I hope I didn't offend anyone by Godric being called God. No offence was meant by that. And I am sorry for the AVPM references about Hufflepuffs being good finders =P I just couldn't resist =P
