On the first of September, I woke up in our room in the Leaky Cauldron, excited that I would be going to Hogwarts.

I jumped out of bed and took a quick shower, imagining how Hogwarts would be like.
I tied my hair up, after putting eyeliner under my eye.

I’m not a makeup person, but everyone likes a good first- impression.

I surveyed myself in the mirror.
I had pulled on a pair of caprice and a half sleeved blue shirt. I tied my black hair up in a high pony tail. On second thoughts, ditch the pony tail. I let it loose.

I stared at myself, and admired the most beautiful feature I had; my eyes. They were the prettiest eyes ever, and I’m not being vain.

They were violet, with speckles of emerald green and gold. I had mom’s violet eyes, and got the green from dad. (I’m not sure where the gold came from, though. Probably Grandma.) I loved looking at them.

“Artemis! We’re going to be late!” mom hollered from outside.

I raced down stairs as fast as I could, dragging my trunk and my owl, Leah, with me.

“I’m here.” I said, out of breath. “Good.” Mom said grumpily. She wasn’t a morning person.

We apparated to King’s Cross station and went to platform 9.

There was no 9 ¾.

“…packed with muggles. The same every year. Lily, dear, what’s the platform number?” I heard a voice said.

My head snapped to their direction.

“Mom, those guys are wizards.” I said, pointing to the family I heard.

We stood close to where they were standing and saw what they did.

They ran straight into the barrier between platform 9 and 10 and disappeared.

Mum and I grabbed my trolley and looked at each other, “1…2…3!” we said, and broke into a run, shutting our eyes.

We were waiting for the crash to happen, but it never came.

I opened my eyes, and we were standing on platform 9 ¾.

“Mom, it’s here.” I whispered. Mom opened her eyes and stared at the miracle, when her watch beeped.

“Sweetie, I have to go. Will you be alright?” she said.

I nodded, tears coming to my eyes. “Write to me!” mom said. “I’ll miss you mom.” I said. “I will too.” She said, hugging me tight.

I said goodbye and hopped on the train, looking for an empty compartment, when I bumped into someone.

“Sorry.” I said. “It’s okay.” The girl said.
“I’m Apoorva Patil Thomas, but you can call me Anu.” The girl said. "That's what my parents and friends call me." she added, noticing I could not make any connection with her name and nickname.

She was a pretty teen, about as tall as me, which would be 5’9. She had long black hair and dark chocolate skin, with pretty brown eyes.

“I’m Artemis. Artemis Kane.” I said

“Are you new? I’ve never seen you around.” Anu said. I nodded, “I transferred from USA.” I said.

“Which year? Sixth?” she said. “Yeah, you?” I asked. “Same.” she said.

“Come to our compartment.” She said.

I followed her to one end of the train, and we walked into the biggest compartment I had seen yet.

There were those people I saw at the station, and three others.

“Everyone, meet Artemis Kane.” Anu introduced.
I waved.

“This is, Lily, Albus, Rose, Hugo, Fred and James.” She said, pointing each one out.

Lily was shorter than me, thirteen, by the look of it, with flaming red hair and browneyes.

Albus had untidy, jet black hair and green eyes, with round glasses. And around fifteen years old.

Rose was also a redhead, with brown eyes, who was probably fifteen too.

Hugo had curly brown hair and brown eyes, and looked like Lily’s age.

Fred had black hair and dark brown skin with brown eyes. He was several inches taller than me, and looked to be about sixteen.

James had untidy black hair, and looked a lot like Albus (or the other way around), but he had brown eyes. He was as tall as Fred, so I suspected sixteen.

“Are you new?” James said. “Yes. I transferred from CIM.” I said.

“CIM?” Lily asked. “California’s Institute of Magic.” I replied.

“You’re from America?” Rose said. “Yes.” I said.

“Why did you transfer?” Fred said. “Long story.” I said.

“Long train ride.” James said.

“I blew up a classroom.” I said. “That’s all?” Fred said.

“I blew up thirteen of them.” I said.

James’ head sharply turned, and he looked at me.

“Something tells me that’s not all you’ve done.” He said.

I shook my head, “I’ve done loads more.” I said, grinning mischievously.
Fred and James gave me a quizzical look.

“In my first year, I blew up thirteen cauldrons.”
They shrugged as if it was nothing special

“In my second year, I blew up thirteen classroom doors.”
They started paying attention.

“In my third year, I blew up thirteen windows.”
I had all eyes and ears from the compartment.

“In my fourth year, I blew up thirteen dormitory beds.”
Their eyes popped open.

“And now, after my OWLS, I blew up thirteen classrooms.” I said, and laughed.
They looked dumbfounded.

“That is major stuff we’re talking about.” Fred said. “Really? Because I was thinking of blowing up the Dining Hall.” I said, shrugging my shoulders.

Everyone’s jaws dropped open.

“It’s no big deal. I’m sure someone does it here.” I said.

“We are the pranksters in Hogwarts, but we’ve never blown up things that huge.” Fred said. “Then you guys need to update your pranks, because you are far behind.” I said.

“I like you, Artemis Kane.” James said. “Call me Arty, James…?” I said. “Potter.” He replied.

“Potter? Why does that name sound familiar?” I said.

“Our dad is Harry Potter.” Lily said.

“Really?” I said, surprised.

“Don’t you know?” Albus and James said, surprised. I shook my head.

“You would be the first.” James said.
“Have you heard of the Weasleys?” Rose said.

“I think I have. One recently joined the auror team.” I said.

“That must be Vic.” Lily said.

“Victoire, you mean. Yes. Mom said she performed very well in her tests.” I said.

“I hate her now. She has the looks and the brains, and the guy.” Rose said.

“I think you’re very pretty, Rose.” I said. “And smart.” Lily added.

“And Scorpius is head over heels for you.” Albus said.

“Is not!” Rose said. “Scorpius? As in Scorpius Malfoy?” I said.

“How do you know him?” James said.

“His parents divorced, didn’t they? His dad works in California now, and on the Bring-your-child-to-work day, I see him.” I said.

They nodded, and this clearly showed that they disliked Scorpius.

I personally thought he was pretty good looking.

“So, what’s the current gossip?” I said.

They gave me confused looks.

“Come on, guys. What’s the hot topics at Hogwarts? You can’t say nothing interesting happens here.” I said.

“Well, the newest and most surprising thing is the Anu-Fred hookup.” James said.

I looked at Anu and Fred. Something tells me they’re going to last long.

“I’m not surprised, though.” I said.

Fred raised his eyebrows.

“Don’t look at me. I don’t even know you guys that well, so I can’t judge anything.” I said.

“We should get along pretty well, Kane.” Fred said.

“What makes you say that?” I said.

“You’re general attitude. You’re pretty cool. It should be fun, hanging out with you.” He said.

“It’s not easy for me to make friends, Weasley. I need ones I can trust, and I need to be sure of it myself.” I said.

“We’ll see about that.” James said.

“We will.” I said.

“Okay, I’m taking her to meet the girls. I’ll see you lot later.” Anu said, kissing Fred on the cheek, before leading me out of the compartment.

She led me to another compartment and slid the door open.

There were four pretty girls sitting inside.
“Girls, meet Artemis Kane.” Anu said.

There were three girls- Dominique Weasley (Another Weasley), Kristie Lewis, Emma White and Camilla Williams.

Dominique was a pretty platinum blonde with medium length hair and aquamarine blue eyes.

Kristie had short brown hair with light brown eyes.

Emma had waist length auburn hair and gray eyes.

Camilla was a strawberry blonde, with medium length hair and deep blue eyes.

“Hi.” I said. “Hi Artemis.” Dominique said.

“You are Dominique, right?” I asked. She nodded, “Call me Dom.” She said. “And, you are Kristie?” I said, pointing to the girl next to her. “Yeah, but I prefer Kris.” She said.

“And you’re Emma?” I said. “You can call me Em, for short.” She said.
“Camilla?” I said to the last girl.

Her face portrayed disgust, “Never call me Camilla. Cam is better.” She said. I smiled, and nodded.

“You’re new, aren’t you? The transfer student from CIM?” Emma said.

“Word travels fast in Hogwarts.” I said, nodding. Dom grinned, “Some cute guys from Ravenclaw came and told us. I have family friends in there.” Dom said.

“They said ‘the new girl was smoking hot’” Kris said, “My words, not theirs.” She added, seeing my expression.

I laughed, “I think I’ll like Hogwarts.” I said.

“We know you will.” Cam said.

I smiled, and leaned back into the seat.
