The Burrow was finally quiet in the early morning hours after Harry's party. The yelling and cursing that had rang throughout the house had finally died down and only the ticking could be heard from Molly's clock in the kitchen. Hermione sat at the table by herself, unable to sleep and was trying to wind down with a cup  of tea, hoping that it would make her sleepy. All the excitement from the day hadn't worn off for her yet and she was lost in her thoughts when she was startled by a noise behind her. She quickly turned around, drawing her wand and pointing it at the unknown person that was disturbing her peace.

"Well, that wasn't exactly how I thought I would be greeted in my own kitchen. Why are you sitting down here in the dark 'Mione?' Ron said with his hands in the air. He took a few steps towards his girlfriend and she lowered her wand. He went to her and kneeled down in front of her as he wrapped his arms around her. When she stiffened up at his touch, he looked at her closely, brushing the hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear. "Baby, what's wrong? You know I won't hurt you right?" He asked gently, not wanting to scare her more than she already had been.

"I know Ron, it's just hard to be back. I wanted it for so long and now it just feels wrong!" Hermione exclaimed. She pushed herself out of her chair and started to pace the room, her nightgown flowing around her legs as she walked back and forth. "I was so happy to be back and then with Harry doubting me and the thing with the order and now with Draco here...I'm so confused!" She cried out softly, tears streaming down her cheeks. Ron got up from where he was on the floor and went to her to wrap her in his arms again and comfort her, but she pulled away from him and looked at his with tear-filled eyes. " just can't do this right now...I can't be with much has happened and I'm not the same girl I was earlier this summer...after what they did..."

"And what did they do? You haven't told us anything that you have gone through yet! How can I help you if you won't let me in? Hermione, I love you! I don't care what they did, you are still the same girl that I have loved since I was eleven!" Ron said, his voice filled with all the love he had for her. "Please let me in, let me help you!"

"Ron, I can't. I just can't. Telling you would destroy you and Harry. It's best this way." Hermione replied sadly, looking deep into Ron's blue eyes. She could see them starting to fill with tears and it made her hate herself even more. As one escaped, she softly brushed it away and then cupped her hand around his face. "I love you too Ron, but sometimes love isn't enough. You need to find someone whole and innocent, not someone that has been used and abused and broken." With those words, she leaned over and gently kissed Ron, letting all her love show for that one kiss before she pulled away. Tears were running in rivers down both of their cheeks now as they looked at each other. There were no more words to say, nothing that could fix this. They both reached out at the same time, clinging to each other, knowing nothing would ever be the same again. After what seemed like hours but what was really just a few moments, Ron pulled himself away from Hermione and out of her arms. With a light kiss to her forehead, he walked out of the room and away from the girl he loved.

Hermione wandered around the Burrow, lightly touching things as she went around, lost in her memories. She could remember the first time she had come into this house. The smells of Molly's awesome cooking and the sheer wonder of being in a magical house for the first time. Looking around the room, she didn't see the blonde boy that was sitting on the couch, so lost in her own thoughts until his voice startled her back to the present.

"Hermione, are you there? Hermione?" Draco said waving his hands in front of her face.

"Oh! Draco! You startled me! What are you doing down here this time of night? I thought you would be asleep by now." Hermione said a little breathlessly.

"I couldn't sleep, so I came down here to read. What are you doing awake? You need to be sleeping so you can recover." Draco replied with concern in his voice. He walked up to her and gently rubbed her arms with his hands. She looked up at his and gave him a little smile. They had grown really close since her kidnapping, despite what he was forced to do to her. In those weeks, they had few chances to talk, but they had learned to communicate with each other by a look or with hand movements.

"I'm fine Draco. Molly fixed up my injuries as soon as I got here and I slept most of the day away. I'm so happy that you are awake though. I missed you." Hermione said, her hand reaching up to play with the lock of hair that had fallen over his brow. Her eyes shined into his as he moved his head closer to hers.

"I missed you too, love. Being here is agony, especially since I can't touch you the way I want." Draco mummers against her lips. Her mouth broke into a slight smile as he lowered his mouth onto hers. Their tongues intertwined and danced together, their hands pulling at each other's clothing. Draco backed up until his legs hit the cushion of the sofa, and never breaking the kiss, he gracefully turned and lowered Hermione down, settling his large frame over her tiny one. His hand explored her body, running up under her shirt and trailing around the tops of her pants. Hermione groaned into his mouth and deepened the kiss. They were completely lost in each other and didn't hear that someone else had entered the room. At the sound of someone clearing their throat, they sprang apart from each other and looked around to see who was there with them.

"Draco dear. I think it's time for you to head to bed. You too, Hermione. You need to be more careful of the places you choose for your liaisons, What if it was someone other than myself that found the two of you like this? I don't think anyone in this house would understand what I just witnessed." Narcissa said, the famous Malfoy smirk on her lips.

"Yes Mother. You are right, we need to be more careful." Draco replied. Standing up, he turned towards Hermione and offered her his hand. She took it and pulled herself up, straightening her clothes as she stood.

"Yes Mrs. Malfoy. You are right. We most be more careful or we will be found out." Hermione said quietly, her eyes downcast. She now knew better than to look at her superiors without permission.

"Yes, I am. That is why Lucius sent me with you two, so you don't do anything stupid or get caught. There is more at stake here than the two of you. You need to remember this or it's all for naught. Come now children, it's time for bed." With those final words, Narcissa turned and left the room, her gown billowing out behind her. The two seventeen year olds looked at each other and followed her out of the room.
