Author’s Note: I’m starting something completely new. I plan on taking this really far, and having a great time doing it! Really hope you enjoy the first chapter, here! Every story's got to start somewhere, and here's where mine starts. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: J.K. Rowling is the proud owner of the world of Harry Potter. She owns the characters, settings, and magical words that I’m sure will come up. I own the plot, and maybe some new characters. Thanks very much for your wonderful creations, Ms. Rowling!
You’d think a year after the most powerful dark wizard was finally and permanently destroyed, things would start looking up. Sure, the world would probably be on full recovery mode, but other than that, everything’s pretty safe? Right? Well, up until this last month, it had been.
A new kind of evil, one that strikes in the most unexpected places, striking the most unexpected or unsuspecting people, is on the rise. And when people don’t know who’s behind it, no one can be trusted. You’d almost want to think of this as a sort of Batman-like era, with Joker being the evil villain. No. It’s different, ten times and worse.
Because no one knows how it is happening. It’s too well planned out to be an accident, yet too coincidental to be planned out so perfectly. Sure, these incidents hit the media, from Wizarding papers to the Muggle news, but that’s all that can be done. Investigations are held, people are questioned, but the same answer pops up in the end.
There is no answer.
You would think a man at 18 by the name of Harry Potter would feel just like any other wizard or muggle at the time of this new era of evil. Scared and confused would be a few suggestions, and true, he does feel these. But there’s something else, something deeper, that only Harry Potter could truly sense. And he’s felt like this for most of his life.
The target.
For every time there’s a disappearance or murder, Harry notices that each person had a connection with him:
Victory Krum, the Bulgarian Quidditch team seeker, was kidnapped from his estate about a month ago, with no trace of a struggle, but an obvious unwanted departure. Victor Krum was found dead three days later…in his own bed. Even after he was kidnapped.
Jane Thomas, Dean Thomas’s mother, was murdered around three weeks ago. Dean Thomas had been a fellow Gryffindor of Harry’s back at school.
Fang, Hagrid’s pet dog, was found underground in the yard of Hagrid’s hut. It was determined by the aurors that Fang had been buried alive. This occurred two weeks ago. Of course, Hagrid had been crushed when he found this out.
And finally, Cho Chang fell into a mysterious coma no more than a week ago. Cho was Harry’s ex-girlfriend. There’s a theory that dark magic was behind this.
So now it was only a matter of time before the next drastic event occurred.
The same actions were taken each time a death, disappearance, or in Cho’s case, coma took place. Aurors were called out of office to search around the area. Specially trained wizards searched the actual scene of the crime, on the search for non-existing evidence. And the media had a field day, posting stories exaggerated to the extreme. Speeches by the Minister of Magic were made, desperately trying to reassure the people that all was under control.
Whoever was behind this…this mysterious someone who was able to drive the world crazy…was given a name. A state of utter confusion or disorder; a total lack of organization.
The name is Chaos. And that’s exactly what he has caused.
AN: Well, there it is! I was going to add some more to it, but I decided to start off with a prequel, just to grab everyone’s attention. Tell me what you think! Any problems that you think will just bug you unless I fix them? Let me know now, because once I get rolling, I’ll be unstoppable. What I’m trying to say is…review!
