Ron’s Phone Call
Ron and Hermione were lying in bed together watching the TV in their room. Hermione has insisted when they had married, that Ron should “get in touch with his Muggle side”, and therefore the house they lived in was part magical, part Muggle. She’d introduced him to all this new technology; including televisions, phones, computers, radios, iPhones, and more. Hermione loved their house and secretly, Ron didn’t mind it too much… He still preferred magic though.
They were watching some fluffy movie that movie that Ron failed to understand, however, Hermione seemed to be into it, so he pretended to enjoy it. His mind though, was elsewhere.
Suddenly, Ron’s mobile rang. They both jumped. Hermione looked at the clock.
“It’s after ten on a Sunday night… Who’d be calling you at this time?”
“I don’t know…” Ron replied.
He picked up his phone and looked at the caller ID. His eyes widened in shock, before he realised Hermione was waiting.
“Uh… This- This looks important… I might be a while. Don’t wait up for me,” he said, before rushing out of the room.
Caller ID – Lavender Brown
“Oh Ron! Thank god!” came the high voice of Lavender.
“Lavender? What’s wrong?” he replied.
There was a small pause.
Honey why you calling me so late?
It’s kinda hard to talk right now…
“Well… Not- not much.”
“Lavender,” Ron said harshly. “Do you know what time it is? Why are you calling m so late? I can’t really talk at the moment.”
Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay?
I gotta whisper coz I can’t be too loud
“Lav, are you crying? Are you okay?”
“I’m sorry!” Lavender cried. “It’s just… I miss you. I really needed to hear you voice.”
Ron softened. “I miss you too Lav, But I can’t really talk right now. Hermione will get suspicious. She already is considering what time it is.”
“I know,” she sighed. “But I really do miss you. Letting you go was a mistake.”
Well, my girl’s in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on…
Ron’s heartbeat filld his ears as he whispered, “I know.” He looked over to the bedroom door. Everything seemed fine, so he ploughed on. “Marrying Hermione… Was stupid. I don’t love her like I love you. I only want you Lav.”
“I guess… I guess we never really moved on hey Ron?”
“No. No we didn’t.”
Ron felt weak. The way she said his name, the fact she loved him too, he could practically feel her lips in his ear. Ron wanted Lavender more than anything at that moment.
And then Ron came to his senses. ‘What am I doing?’ he thought. 'I’m married. I’m frigging married to another woman while I’m on the phone with the one I really love.'
And then, before he could stop himself, he said, “Lav, meet me at that coffee place we went to once, on your lunchbreak tomorrow, yeah?”
He could practically hear her smiling as she answered, “Of course I will. What do you have in mind?”
He laughed. “Remember New Year’s Eve at Seamus and Parvati’s?”
She giggled. “Oh yeah. That was fun.”
“Well if you meet me tomorrow, maybe we can continue the magic eh?” He froze. “Oh shit, I have to go. Hermione is gonna be so suspicious.”
“Yeah,” she agreed. “I suppose I should go too. But I really don’t want to…”
“I know. Me either babe. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
They hung up.
Ron returned to the bedroom to find Hermione emerging from the ensuite. The movie they’d been watching had he credits rolling.
“Hey honey. Who was that on the phone?”
“Oh, just George. He needed to go over some stuff for work tomorrow. Said it was urgent, though it really wasn’t. It could have waited until morning.”
He was so nervous, he was rambling.
He was so nervous, he didn’t realise that Hermione’s phone was in her hand when she exited the bathroom.
Update chapter! I knew I hadn't worked on this in a long time, but I didn't realise it was six years! Oops :/
Anyways, I hope I finally got the stupid spacing fixed, and I altered the chapter slightly, now that I finally have ideas for the next ones
