Detention with a Weasley
The next morning, Draco was woken up by a knock at the door.
“Draco? Can I come in?” A female voice he recognized all too much asked.
He sat up and looked at the door, smiling for a moment.
“Well hello, Miss Parkinson. I was sleeping. Did you want something? It’s never too late to start old habits again,” suggested Draco, with a cheeky smile. Pansy stood at the doorway with a raised eyebrow.
"Draco, the day I start old habits with you again is the day the Weasleys become your best friends," she said, giving him a half smile.
“So never, then?” groaned Draco, in a mock hurt tone.
Pansy stepped in and closed the door behind her, then walked over. Draco patted the bed next to him hopefully, but she shook her head and sat in a chair in front of him.
After minutes of silence, Draco drawled impatiently, “Well...what did you want if you’re not here for a good shag?”
Pansy ignored the question and started picking nonexistent fluff off of Draco’s blanket.
“You know your detention with Snape tomorrow? Well, I was wondering if you could get out of it?” she asked, trying not to sound too desperate.
Draco thought for a moment and lay back on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He finally said, in a bored tone, “I've already tried, but he seems to think that I did something wrong."
Without a word, Pansy got up from her seat and headed towards the door.
“Why, did you want me to do something for you?” Draco asked suggestively, as Pansy had her foot just outside the door.
“No, it’s just that it’s my birthday tomorrow and I thought you would come to the party the house is throwing me. But I guess you forgot that it was even my birthday,” she said, sounding angry.
Draco sat up and looked at her, eyes wide. "I have detention Pansy,” he whispered. Pansy walked off even sadder, as if that’s not the answer she wanted.
Draco let out a sigh. “Zabini, did you know of this?” he accused the door on the opposite side of the room.
Blaise opened the door and smirked. “She told me not to remind you of it, ‘cause her ickle Drackie-poo would remember.”
Draco let out a small groan. “what kind of person has their birthday on Halloween”
Blaise smirked, “Pansy does, Malfoy”
On the morning of Halloween, Draco received a letter from his mother.
No, the book is not cursed, it is perfectly safe. Your father had told me about it, though he would not let me read it. He has been waiting for you to come of age to become one of what he is. You know my thoughts on this, and you know how much it means to your father if you accept. But do not go by what I think, it is your decision alone. Your father already knows that.
All my love,
Draco looked up from the letter and looked over to his sleeping roommate, Blaise Zabini. His only roommate because Draco’s father had requested Draco had his own room when Draco was made Head Boy. Draco didn’t want to be by himself, so he invited Blaise; he was the only one who didn’t snore. Draco decided Blaise needed to get up, so he quickly put the letter under his pillow and walked over to Blaise’s bed.
“Blaise, get up,” Draco yawned, kicking the bed
He waited for a minute, but when Blaise didn’t move, Draco said again, louder, “Are you deaf? I said get up!”
Another streak of silence.
Draco sighed and took the blankets off of Blaise, noticing that it was not Blaise at all, but a very naked Slytherin girl. Draco quickly put the blankets back on the girl, muttering his apologies, when Blaise walked back into the room. He saw the slightly embarrassed Draco covering his eyes as the girl got out of bed with the covers around her.
“I see you’ve met Quinn.” Blaise smirked, looking between Draco and the girl.
If looks could kill, Blaise would be dead and buried.
“I thought we had an agreement that you wouldn’t sleep with anyone while I was in the room?” said Draco harshly, low enough so Quinn didn’t hear.
Blaise smiled. “Malfoy, it’s more fun knowing that you could wake up anytime,” he smirked innocently. Then he added devilishly, “You know I like having my fun.”
It surprised both Blaise and Draco when Quinn said, “And if you did wake up, Malfoy, I was going to ask you to join us. You know us Slytherin girls.” She winked at him and started to get dressed. Once she had put her shirt on, she said, “Happy Halloween, boys!” and left.
Both still were staring at the spot where she had just gotten dressed. Blaise was the first to recover. He saw Draco and threw a pillow at him.
“Malfoy, close your mouth!” Blaise snapped. Draco smirked.
“She was…How should I put it…Confident,” Draco said thoughtfully.
“Yes, to get fully dressed in front of two Slytherin sex gods? I don’t know if she was a trick or treat,” Blaise said, fully amused.
“Well, I’m going to leave you to ponder that, Blaise. I’ll see you at breakfast,” Draco chuckled, slapping him on the back.
He left the room, leaving Blaise attempting to throw another pillow at him. Draco got dressed into his school robes and left for breakfast. He sat in between Crabbe and Goyle and helped himself to some toast. In the middle of breakfast, he looked over to the Gryffindor table to see Ginny looking at him. He gave her a smirk and she looked away, blushing
‘Wow, she looks cute when she blushes,’ he thought to himself.
‘Wait, what am I thinking? She’s a Weasley!’ He shook his head then got up and went to his first class for the day, which was Herbology.
After he finished his last class that day, he put his bag in his dorm before heading to Snape’s classroom.
‘I have had a bad day as it is, and now I have to spend the evening serving detention with a bloody Weasley. Plus I am missing out on a chance to get Pansy to sleep with me.’ He thought bitterly
He was walking towards the dungeons to see Ginny already waiting outside, looking bored.
He smirked, “Eager, are we, Weasley?”
She frowned at him. “I just want to get this over with.”
Before Draco could reply, Snape came barging down the corridor, looking very much like he was in a hurry.
“Come along now, we don’t have all day.” Snape snarled, and pointed them inside.
Draco and Ginny quickly moved into the potions classroom. Draco looked around the classroom, it was messy, ‘but nothing a little spell wouldn’t fix’ he whispered to himself
They both stood there until Snape snapped at them, “Sit.”
They both quickly took the closest seat, which happened to be right next to each other. They glared at each other.
“You know why you are here. Do NOT tell me you need reminding—Draco, don't roll your eyes at me. I want this classroom spotless. No magic. I have a staff meeting to get to so Filch will be coming here to check on you, don’t muck around, or that will mean another detention, and the whole time with filch. " Snape told them coldly.
he gestured to the buckets and brooms in the corner, then took their wands and left the room.
After a few seconds, Ginny stood up and picked up a broom. After a few minutes, Draco stood and looked at Ginny.
“You know this is servant work?” Draco drawled, breaking the silence.
“Are you worried you might break a nail, Malfoy?” she said as she pushed passed him.
“No, I was just saying...but I guess you’re used to this,” he sniffed.
“Used to what?” she replied, not looking at him.
“Well, doing servant work. After all, your family can't afford real help,” he answered in a matter-of-fact way, knowing he’d hit a nerve.
Ginny stopped working and glared at him.
“Shut your face, you bloody git,” Ginny said through clenched teeth. She held her broom above her head threateningly.
Draco stared at Ginny, fully amused. “What are you going to do, Weasley? Whack me with your broom? I highly doubt Snape would like that.”
Ginny thought through this for a minute and lowered her broom.
Draco gave her a smirk of satisfaction. He sat down at a table near the window.
“you know, this is all your fault. But lucky you are also missing out on Pansy’s birthday party, so I guess that makes up for my missing out on the Gryffindor Halloween games” she said grinning to herself while washing the top of the desks.
Draco opened and closed his mouth a couple of times.
Ginny stopped work and stared at him. “You know, you look like a fish when you do that.”
Draco quickly closed his mouth and scowled. “I do not. Im a Malfoy, and Malfoy’s do not look like fishes”
Ginny rolled her eyes and started dusting the bottom of the desks, but after a while, Draco asked.
“How did u know that it was pansy’s birthday bash tonight?”
Ginny walked over to him. “I overheard Crabbe arguing with Goyle about how many candles should be on the cake,” she said simply, and she handed him her broom.
Draco mumbled under his breath, “Idiots.” He eyed the broom for a moment before rolling his eyes and standing up. As soon as took a step, his foot landed in a bucket. He pulled it off angrily. ‘This day is not getting any better,’ he thought miserably.
Ginny laughed slightly and started scrubbing cauldrons.
Draco glared her for a minute before he went back to work as well. They had a silent agreement not to talk to each other again. After two hours, they finished. Apparently just in time, as Snape came through the door. He looked around the room and snarled a “You may go.”
They both looked at him then put down their mops. They looked at each other briefly. After taking their wands back from Snape, they left the room and went back to their dormitories without a word.
