A.N. Hi! This little story was written for "katebabelovesharrypotter's 'When I Grow Up' Challenge". I had a lot of fun imagining Lavender being a Lawyer; tell me what you guys think by reviewing please, that would be very much appreciated!
Disclaimer: I do not own Lavender Brown.
I will change the world.
I will be the understanding ear that listens to the misunderstood.
I will be the hope the helpless can fall back on.
I will be the voice, speaking truth and seeking vengeance for the victims of injustice.
I will be the one person the wrongdoers of this world have nightmares about.
I will be a lawyer.
No more crime will go unpunished and no criminal will roam the streets after they have met me. I will make sure that no little girl’s tears are shed without the culprits getting what they deserve. No more of our sons’ blood will be spilled on the pavement; the knife holders will be too scared of facing me afterword to go through with their impulse. Old ladies will be free to walk down the streets at night because they will know that I will make any eventual offender pay.
I will make sure that the culprits really are sorry for what they have done. After facing me and the consequences I will make sure they get, the criminals will never even think about going against the law again. The law will work for me and my clients; I will implore the judges and plead for the victims’ pain and traumas to be appeased. My law will work against the lawbreakers; I will appeal to the jury and demand that the perpetrators’ ruling be as hard as can be. When needed, I will fight for harder laws to be put forward and it is with great satisfaction that I will make any deserving delinquent try it.
I will work day and night to get my client the justice they deserve. I will sweat tears and blood for their rights to be respected. When needed, I will work for free. I will work for the sole satisfaction of knowing that an innocent’s interests are protected and that the reprobate’s are crushed. Crooks, lawbreakers, delinquents and criminals will learn that they do not deserve respect or mercy if they, themselves, did not show the same to their innocent victims.
I know that putting the offenders in jail will not erase the damages they have caused, but it’s a balm on the victims’ wounds. I know that judgments don’t bring back the lost innocence or the dead family member, but if they scare just one other person from committing the same crime, well at least it protects someone else. And if that one offender is behind the bars, I like to believe that the rest of the world is protected from that person’s bad actions. The laws are easy to break when you show no consideration. But when you use them to your advantage, the laws can help you make the criminals pay for what they’ve done. The lawyers are the laws’ best friends and the crooks’ worst enemies. I will be Lawyer Brown, delinquents’ worst nightmare.
‘Lavender, go wash your hands, diner is ready!’ a woman’s voice resonate in the flat.
‘Coming mum!’ the 10 years old girl shouts back.
Jumping down her improvised stool, Lavender Brown skips to the bathroom to wash her hands like her mother asked. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she frowns, is this really the face of future Lawyer Brown?
Or maybe I’ll be Prime Minister; they have more power in changing laws. Prime Minister Brown sounds good too.
But they do wear the most boring clothes… Good thing I still have years to think about it.
One thing is for sure though; I will eventually save the world, punishing one offender after the other. For now, diner’s ready.
