Chapter 14 : Holidays
| ||Rating: Mature||Chapter Reviews: 3|
Background: Font color:
I had fallen asleep leaning on my window in the library. It was snowing a little and I had been staring at the place where we had been kissing the night before when my eyes closed. I guess I had been asleep maybe for twenty minutes when the touch of his lips on my neck awakened me.
“Hi, love,” he said in a soft whisper.
It was the first time I had seen him since the night before when he had taken me by the hand to the Ravenclaw Tower at four in the morning. He sat down in the ample window frame right in front of me and waited until I had completely woken up. I yawned and wrapped my favourite cream coloured Christmas sweater tighter around my body. I closed my eyes for one last second and when I opened them I discovered that he had been staring at me.
“Don’t look at me,” I said covering my face with my hands, “I must look like a mess.”
I felt his hand reach for my entwined fingers and lower them.
“You look beautiful,” he said.
I smiled weakly and pushed myself forward. I kissed him softly on the lips.
“Happy Christmas,” I said.
“Happy Christmas,” he answered.
“What are you doing here anyway?” I asked him leaning back on the window frame.
“Spying on you,” he answered with a smile.
“Ha ha,” I laughed ironically, “Seriously, what are you doing here?”
“I have a present for you,” he said. From behind his back he produced a rectangular package wrapped in blue paper.
“A Christmas present?” I asked him without reaching forward.
He handed me the present and I reached forward to kiss him again. As I pulled away he caught my hand in his and pressed it to his lips. With the other one I traced the contours of the present.
“A birthday present, actually,” he said between kisses.
“My birthday was over a month ago,” I reminded him, “Why didn’t you give it to me then?”
“Well,” he said looking up, my hand still trapped between his, “We were on ‘friends’ terms then.” He emphasized the word ‘friends’ by using air quotes.
“And it’s a bit too personal for a friend to give another,” he concluded.
I smiled at him and continued to trace the package with my fingers. Eventually I came to a side that felt hollow.
“It’s a book,” I exclaimed.
“Not just a book,” he said, “A muggle book.”
“Where the hell did you find a muggle book?” I enquired truly entertained.
“Hogsmeade,” he answered, looking intently into my eyes.
With the one hand I had free I started tearing at the package until I revealed the leather-covered book. I turned it in my hands to see its spine but discovered that the letters had long faded. I looked up and smiled at him.
“A mystery,” I said and he laughed.
I put the book down and opened it to the first page. My smile faded immediately. I had been holding in my hands a century-old edition of Mansfield Park.
“Mansfield Park,” I said and my voice cracked. I looked up and he noticed the tears forming in my eyes.
“What’s wrong?” he asked me.
I smiled at him.
“Nothing,” I whispered.
I took the book with my free hand and left it on the table beside us. I got up on my knees and moved closer to him. He separated his legs so that I could arrange myself between them. I leant my head on his chest and stretched my legs behind me; then I pushed myself up and kissed him on the lips.
“Thank you,” I said into his neck.
“You’re welcome,” he answered me into my hair.
A thought hit me suddenly.
“I have nothing to give you,” I said looking up.
He smiled down at me.
“You’re enough,” he said and kissed me on the forehead.
I sat back up and reached for the book. I turned myself around so that my back was to his chest. I opened the book at the first chapter and allowed myself to capture its scent. He reached down, took my hair from my shoulder and kissed me on the neck.
“Chapter one,” he whispered into my ear and I giggled.
We read a couple of pages in silence until I got distracted. His voice brought me back.
“Page, please,” he whispered.
“I have an idea,” I said suddenly, louder than I wanted to.
“About what?” he asked.
I took his hand in mine and began to play with his fingers.
“Have you figured out the, uh,” I said playfully, “The egg?”
His hand froze in mine.
“What?” he asked.
“Well,” I continued, “As I said, I have an idea.”
He agreed to meet me at midnight in the Prefects’ bathroom. It was already about fifteen minutes past midnight and I was standing outside, risking being discovered. I could hear him swimming inside.
“Come on, you wuss,” I whispered and reached for the doorknob.
I opened it as silently as I could and walked easily into the room. I stood silently with my back to the door watching him swim. He eventually stopped near the middle of the large bathtub with his back turned to me. I cleared my throat and he turned around. He smiled at me.
“Well, there you are,” he said walking slowly to the other end of the tub, “I thought you would never make up your mind about coming in.”
“What?” I asked, my smile fading away, “How did you know?”
“I heard you sneeze like five minutes ago,” he said. Damn. “What took you so long?”
“I uh – ” I started, walking to the edge of the tub where he was resting his arms, “I’ve never done, uh, this with a boy before.”
“Do what?” he asked innocently with a smirk in his face, “Swim?”
“Yeah,” I said rolling my eyes, “Swim.”
“Well,” he said while getting out of the pool. I stepped back to give him space and soon found myself standing in front of my semi-naked, dripping wet boyfriend, “You sure are wearing too much clothing for such an occasion.”
I smiled a little. He smiled back and reached down to kiss me. I kissed him back wrapping my arms around his neck. Who cared if my clothes got a little wet? After a few seconds of kissing he stepped back, still with my arms around his neck. He moved his hands from my back to the top button of my sweater and started undoing it slowly, his hands shaking.
“I’m sorry,” he said with a smile in his voice, “I have no experience at undressing a girl.”
“That’s okay,” I answered, “I have no experience at undressing a boy.”
“Lucky for you I am already undressed,” he said and we both laughed.
When he was done with my sweater I let my arms fall to my sides so that he could take it off. Instead of going straight to pulling my shirt over my shoulders he moved to my jeans. He unbuttoned them and pushed them down. Since they caught at my thighs I saw as he kneeled down and pulled at them until they were entirely free from my legs, lying well away from us. He stood back up and examined my face for approval. I kicked my shoes off and smiled at him without saying a word. He took hold of the bottom of the blue shirt he loved. He moved it slowly up my torso and over my head. I raised my arms and he slid the shirt up until I was free from it. There we were, Cedric Diggory standing completely drenched in front of me in his navy blue boxers, and me standing just in my pink-laced bra and panties. He traced my body with his eyes and I shivered.
He ran his fingers across my arms, neck and down to my semi-naked torso. I felt goose bumps on my skin. Neither of us said anything. When I couldn’t take it anymore I took a couple of steps forward and kissed him on the chest, right over where his heart was. He shivered and wrapped me tightly in his arms, his moist skin making me tremble. I pushed myself up and kissed him. He pulled me closer to him until my feet were not touching the ground. He kissed my neck and shoulders while I nibbled at his earlobe. We tacitly agreed to move back to the others’ lips and he slipped his tongue into my mouth. I moaned and he walked with me in his arms until our bodies were pressed to the wall of the Prefects’ bathroom. With me pinned securely against the wall he moved down my neck until he found the soft spot. I bit my lips not to moan and grabbed his hair between my fingers. I slowly made my foot trace the contour of his legs until I pushed my knee between his thighs like I had done long time ago inside the tent. He moaned and gasped into my neck and holding me tighter pulled me from my place in the wall. I was kissing his neck when I felt his hands sliding up my back to the clasp of my bra.
“Wait,” I mumbled with a trembling voice.
“Too fast?” he asked into my skin.
I kissed him softly in the nape of his neck. He moaned with pleasure and I moved back to his lips. I kissed him ardently and then pulled my face from his.
“Did you bring the egg?” I asked him through my agitated voice.
“What?” he asked utterly confused.
“The egg, Ced. Did you bring it?”
He smiled and let his head fall to my neck.
“Give me a second, alright?” he said, “I’m way too horny.”
I bit my lips to hide my smile. We waited in silence for a moment and he finally put me down on the slippery floor. He walked away from me to a pile of towels where the egg was lying. He picked it up and brought it with him to where I was standing. I braced myself for what I was about to do. He handed me the egg.
“Any thoughts?” he asked me smiling.
“One,” I said and pushed the clasp open.
The screaming came immediately and he covered his ears. I, however, looked calmly at the egg (years and years of people honking their horns at traffic jams had me prepared for any type of noise) and threw it with one swift movement to the water. The screaming ceased.
He uncovered his ears and looked at me disbelievingly. I smiled at him.
“Go get ‘em, tiger,” I said.
He smiled at me.
“Was that your brilliant idea?” he asked.
“It’s more of a theory, actually,” I said.
I crossed my arms and he nodded his head disbelievingly at me, his smile still plastered across his face. I made a jerk with my head to encourage him to get into the tub. He jumped in and disappeared for a few seconds. I, meanwhile, sat by the edge of the tub with my legs dangling in the sweet-scented water. When he emerged he had an astonished look in his face.
“How the hell did you know?” he asked.
“I told you, it was a theory,” though of course it wasn’t, “It was either this or throwing it into the fire. This seemed less dangerous.”
“I agree,” he said and burst into a roar of laughter.
“What did it say?” I asked as he swam to where I was.
He didn’t answer but kissed my knees softly and then pulled me hard so that I fell into the water. When I rose to the surface he was nowhere to be seen. I turned in the same spot but could not see him. I decided to stand in the same place staring at the door and waited for him to do what it was he was going to do. After almost a minute of silence I felt his hands pinching my sides so I flinched. I was about to turn to face him when his strong arms tied around my waist, so that my back was to his chest.
“Come seek us where our voices sound. We cannot sing above the ground. An hour long you’ll have to look, to recover what we took.” he sang in my ear. “There are creatures in the Black Lake, aren’t there?” he asked.
I turned around and kissed him. His hold around my waist tightened and I wrapped my legs around his waist. We kissed for a couple of seconds, both of us gasping desperately for breath as our excitement climbed. Somehow I found the strength to pull away.
“Yes,” I answered him finally and he laughed.
We held each other in the lavender-scented water for a while, kissing at every spot of naked skin we could find. After almost an hour, when my fingers begun to pale, we crawled back to the slippery floor.
He helped me stand up and without thinking of drying our bodies we each parted towards the place where our clothes had been discarded. We dressed in complete silence, kissing at times and laughing at our shaking hands. At four in the morning when we both were so tired we couldn’t help giggling like silly kids he took me by the hand to the Tower. Standing in front of the portrait I had a change of mind.
“Do you want to come in?” I asked him.
“Boys aren’t allowed in girls’ dorms,” he said with a smile.
I held his hand tighter and whispered the password to the portrait. The door swung open and I turned to Cedric.
“Come on,” I said and pulled him with me through the door.
We sat down in front of the fire holding each other and somehow, when we woke up the following morning, we discovered that our bodies had managed to crawl up to the couch and had mysteriously entwined before slipping into oblivion.
I woke up to the touch of a hand reaching for my own and a pair of lips pressing into my eyelids. Without opening my eyes I smiled up at him.
“Hi,” I said.
“Hi,” he answered kissing me on the lips.
“What time is it?”
“Six,” he said.
“Then it’s still the night,” I said pulling him to me.
“There’s something I want to show you,” he said, “Besides, it’s morning.”
“‘It is not yet near day: it was the nightingale and not the lark’,” I quoted.
“‘It was the lark, the herald of the morn’,” he quoted back.
I smiled up at him and opened my eyes.
“Fine, you win,” I said.
He kissed me fast on the lips and stood up, leaving me still lying on the couch. I sat up and looked at the window.
“See? It’s still dark,” I whined.
“No no,” he insisted, “I won.”
I stretched on the couch while he arranged his tangled sweater.
“Go put on something warm and I’ll come back in fifteen minutes, alright?”
“Fine,” I moaned.
He walked away from me and made his way towards the door. He stepped out and before the door closed behind him he called back at me:
“Warm, Georgie! No sexy tops this morning!”
I laughed as the door closed.
I climbed up the stairs to our room. All of my friends were still sleeping. I smiled at them and pulled open my trunk. I took out the most worn out jeans I had, a yellow T-shirt that had the “Strawberry Fields” lyrics scribbled all over it and a hooded thick grey sweater. I looked briefly out the window at the clearing morning and noticed that it was still snowing slightly. It hadn’t stopped since the Ball. Since I assumed that we were going outside I reached back into my trunk for my mittens and a knit beret my mum had made for me. I closed the door behind me as quietly as I could and went downstairs to the common room.
I had let my eyes close for barely five minutes when I heard him knock on the door. I stood up, grabbed my mittens and hat, checked my hair and make-up on the nearest mirror and opened the door. He looked disarming as usual, wearing his usual coat over a dark blue sweater that made his eyes stand out. He also had a hat in his hand. I smiled at him and he beamed. He reached for my hand and I took his. As soon as I came close enough to him he leaned forward and kissed me on the cheek.
“Hey,” I said, “Warm enough?” I asked pulling away and letting him examine my clothing.
Since the door to the Tower hadn’t closed yet he reached past my head towards a coat hanger and grabbed mine. He helped me into it and stood back to examine me.
“Perfect,” he said.
He took my hand again and together we went down the stairs, out of the castle and through the falling snow for almost ten minutes, until I could see the Quidditch hoops ahead of us.
“What are we doing here?” I asked when we were actually standing in the field.
He let go of my hand and stood right in front of me. I looked up at him in confusion. He raised his wand.
“Accio boxes!” he said and a couple of boxes he had been pointing at flew at us. He caught them before they hit me in the head and put them down on the floor. He knelt down and opened one of them, revealing a polished broom.
“We keep them in boxes so the wood won’t rot,” he explained to me, “My father and I.”
He stood up with the broom in his hand and pulled out his wand again. He blew the snow away with it clearing a circle around us. He leaned back down and left the broom on the frozen grass.
“What’s in the other box?” I asked him.
He stood up with the box in his hands.
“That would be,” he handed the box to me, “your Christmas present.”
I gasped and took the box in my hands. I opened it to reveal a clear coloured broomstick with a huge pink ribbon tied to the handle.
“It’s cherry,” he said.
I smiled widely and looked up at him.
“That doesn’t mean anything to me,” I said laughing.
He leant forward and kissed me softly.
“Cherry means it’s good,” he explained.
I took the broomstick out of its box and examined it closely with a huge smile plastered on my face.
“Ced, I can’t accept it,” I said, “I know they are way too expensive. Plus, stupid as I am, I know cherry means a lot of money.”
“You are not stupid,” he said smiling, “Plus, I have some savings.”
“What? Are you rich or something?” I asked as he took the broom from my hand and put it down next to me on the grass.
He looked up at me and grinned. Well, I certainly didn’t know he had so much money.
“I won’t go into bankruptcy for buying you a broom,” he assured me and leant forward to kiss me again. I felt so naïve.
He stood next to his own broom and put a hand over it.
“Up,” he said and the broom shot up towards his hand firmly. It was quite sexy. “Now you do it.”
“Up,” I said but nothing happened, “Please?”
Surprisingly the broom flew into my hand slowly.
“Graceful,” he said admiringly.
“Thanks,” I smiled at him.
He got up on his broom and I followed his example. I felt empowered. He kicked the ground and began to soar over me. I closed my eyes and kicked softly. I felt my feet leave the ground and I opened my eyes. I was flying perhaps five inches above the frozen ground. I laughed and looked up at him, who was staring down at me in adoration. I bit my lower lip to contain my smile.
“Come on,” he whispered and started to fly around the field. I followed though he insisted that I remain close to the ground in case I fell.
After about an hour he taught me how to make the broom fly higher until we were both levelled and racing each other. I was so happy I didn’t really notice when the snow started to fall harder. He landed and from the ground instructed me how to do it myself. I tripped when my feet touched the ground and he caught me in his arms. I wrapped mine around his neck and we started to spin in the ground.
“Best Christmas present ever,” I told him through my laughter.
“I tried,” he said.
I hugged him tightly and pulled away a little.
“Damn,” I said, “Now nothing I give you is going to be good enough.”
“Sure it is,” he said. He brushed the snow from my beret and put me down on the snow. He kissed me one last time and took my hand so we could go home.
Most of the other students had left after the Ball to spend Christmas day and New Year’s with their families. Cedric and I had decided to stay behind. I somehow hadn’t bought him anything for Christmas and I used an improvised visit to Hogsmeade that the teachers had granted us to get him something. The 31st of December he and I walked hand-in-hand to Hogsmeade and once we got there I had told him to get lost. He smiled at me and told me that he would wait in the Three Broomsticks.
I started looking into every store trying to find the perfect delayed Christmas present. Candy? What was he eight? Sexy lingerie? No way… not yet, anyway. A book seemed too geeky a present for Cedric Diggory. I considered a kit that contained everything necessary to take care of a broom. My lack of money prevented me from buying it, though. It really did suck to be poor and all I had left was the little money I hadn’t spent in robes or books at the beginning of the year. I still owed Dumbledore for the dress, but cuss him since he was willing to let my boyfriend get killed. I was on my way to buying the sexy lingerie when I noticed a little antique shop I had never seen before. I went inside and started browsing through the shelves. Finally I found a dusty camera leaning against a pile of books.
“I don’t know why that one doesn’t sell,” the owner, a plump little witch told me, “It shows the thing your heart wants the most once you take the picture.”
I beamed down at her and paid her all that I had left. I met Cedric at the Three Broomsticks and we left towards Hogwarts once we each had finished our butterbeers and it had started to snow harder than ever. We arrived at the main doors around six in the afternoon. We took off our coats in silence and once I was done I stood in front of him.
“What?” he asked me with an amused smile.
“I finally have a present for you,” I said, “So, meet me tonight for dinner, will you?”
“Sure,” he said stooping to kiss me, “It’s New Year’s after all. I assumed we were doing something.”
“Yeah,” I said, “Yeah, you’re right.”
He kissed me one last time and guided me to the Tower. We parted so that we could each get ready for dinner and I started missing him immediately. Ravenclaw was almost empty now because of all of the kids that had left for New Year’s. I sat down in front of our chimney and wrapped the camera in a yellow and black glittery piece of paper that had small snitches flying around. It was as though it had been designed for him. After I was done I went upstairs and put on a red mini dress that had somehow ended up in my trunk. I curled my hair and let it fall loosely around my shoulders. I put on some make-up and my favourite flats, took the present in my hands and waited for him in the common room. When I opened the door for him he was wearing a white shirt and dark grey pants that made his eyes stand out. I kissed him and we walked hand-in-hand to the Main Hall.
Only a table was left and all the remaining students were sitting around it dressed in their best clothes. Cedric and I sat in front of each other and chatted with those surrounding us as we had dinner. When it was close to eleven we went up to the Tower. He was really quiet when we got to the door.
“What’s the matter?” I asked him.
He blushed a little and closed his eyes.
“I –” he stammered, “I want to spend the night with you.”
My eyes shot wide open.
“Not –” he stammered again getting what I had understood, “Not that way. Just – just you and me together, fully clothed… in bed.”
I smiled shyly at him and got up on the little step before my door so that we could be levelled. I grabbed him by his shirt collar and kissed him ardently.
“Wait here,” I said, “I’d love to spend the night with you.”
I practically ran to my room and quickly packed into a bag some fresh underwear, the clothes I would wear the next day and some pyjamas I had bought when I had first started dating him and which consisted of some green plaid boxers and a grey long sleeved shirt. I packed my hair and tooth brushes and my slippers, the present I had carried around all dinner but somehow had not given him and I burst out the door again.
He was leaning against the wall biting his lip as though he thought I wasn’t coming. When he saw me his face illuminated with relief. He took my hand in his and guided me through the hallways to the Hufflepuff house. Once we were in the common room he turned around and kissed me. It was completely deserted. All his other housemates must still have been at dinner. I kissed him back and then he pulled away.
“Do you want to come upstairs?” he asked me.
I nodded weakly and he guided me to his room and then to his bed. I undressed him slowly and he undressed me until we were both kissing lying on his bed only in our underwear. After a while we started breathing heavily and he pulled away.
“I won’t force you to do anything until you’re ready,” he told me.
I kissed him.
“I know,” I said weakly. Then I remembered something, “I have a present for you.”
I got up from the bed and got his gift from my bag. He sat down in bed very still just in his boxers and watched as I pulled on my shirt and pyjama bottoms. Then I handed him the camera. He put on the grey shirt he usually slept in and started tearing apart the wrapping as I watched from my standing position.
“A camera,” he said turning it around in his hands.
“It captures what your heart wants the most,” I told him.
He looked up at me.
“Come here,” he said and I stepped into the bed. He got up and closed the curtains around us in case one of his dorm mates arrived. He positioned himself next to me and raised the camera with one hand so that it would capture us. He turned to face me and kissed me on the cheek as I smiled to the lens. I heard the camera click and he stopped kissing me. We waited for the picture to come out and once it did Cedric wouldn’t let me see it.
“So it’s true,” he said hugging me tighter “Isn’t it?”
He handed me the picture and I could see us both in the exact position in which the picture had been taken. Then we began to move and kissed. I noticed that Cedric looked even more alive in the picture than in real life. We looked so in love.
“Yes, it’s true,” I said in a whisper.
He kissed me on the lips and somehow we started sliding down until my head was resting against his pillow and he was on top of me. We kissed in silence until a roar came from downstairs, from the Hall.
“Happy New Year,” I said.
“Happy New Year,” he said back and kissed me.
I rested my head in the crook of his elbow and he traced my face with his lips. Then he pulled away to look at me.
“I love you Cedric Diggory,” I told him.
“I love you Georgiana Elizabeth Quested,”
So, this is the fourteenth chapter *switches to sappy narrator voice* in which Georgiana's last name is finally revealed. *Sappy narrator voice goes away*. Sorry. I needed to point this out because I actually took it from a book. The last name comes from A Passage to India by E.M. Forster. Let's see, what else did I use? Well, since we're on Georgie, both her names come from Pride & Prejudice. Mansfield Park is used here too and I don't own anything. Not A Passage... nor either of the Austens. "Strawberry Fields" belongs to... The Beatles, I guess. Or Lennon/McCartney or whoever it belongs to. Maybe Yoko Ono? and I don't own it. I also do not own Romeo and Juliet from which come the quotes at the part when Cedric and Georgie are discussing whether it is morning or not. The thing that Cedric listens coming from the egg belongs to J.K Rowling. Man! This was one long disclaimer.
Moving on. Thank you for reading! I hope you are still enjoying it. I know this chapter is a bit of a filler, but I wanted to give them some time together before the whole drama began, you know? Again, I hope you liked it. Please rate and comment, mainly because I do need encouragement for going on. I love you all very much for getting this far along with me. Comment!
