Albus POV
As I walk down the stairs I can hear people talking excitedly, all around the announcement board. As I approach it I hear the word ‘Hogsmead’. I get excited myself! Exactly what I was waiting for. I approach the board and see that it’s the first Saturday of October.
I have to find her!
I go to run upstairs so I can call her down to talk to her, but I’m stopped by Rose whose coming down.
“Where are you going running?” She asks.
“I need to find Misty, is she in the dormitory?”
She raises her eyebrows. “She is.” She grabs my hand I as start going up. “I noticed you two like each other. Actually only a blind person wouldn’t see it.” I feel my face heat up. “But I wanted to know what happened in the summer when she went to visit you in California. And don’t lie to me Albus.” Ouch. She never calls me Albus.
“Huh, you know about that? Nothing happened, we just talked and we happened to talk-”
Is it hot in here?
“Talk about what?” Rose asks eagerly. Realization comes to her. “You told each other you liked each other didn’t you? Awww Al! You told her first right?”
I should’ve known better, and I should’ve told her earlier about it. I can’t keep secrets from Rosie.
“Of course I did. I’m a man aren’t I?” She just laughs. “Okay... I’m still a guy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know what to do. Now if you don’t mind I have to ask her on a date!” I move away from Rose but not before I hear her say “Awww.” Girls!
As I reach the Girls Staircase, I remember that I can’t go up. Oh well, I’ll have to shout then. “Misty! Can you come down please?” Immediately I hear a door open and seconds later Misty appears in front of me.
“Hey Al, what’s up?” She smiles at me. She looks beautiful with her hair shining in the sunlight.
“Well, it has come to my knowledge that we have a Hogsmead trip next Saturday. Would you like to come on a date with me Misty?”
She squeals and almost throws herself at me in a hug. It takes all my muscles and strength to keep us from falling from the staircase.
“I’ll take that as a yes then?”
Letting me go now, she answers. “Yes!” She falls silent. “Rose is a bit mad at us for not telling her about California.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve talked to her, and I told her about. I don’t think you’ll have a problem now.”
“Thank you Al. I have to go finish an essay, but I’ll see you at lunch?”
“Okay, I’ll see you at lunch.” She flashes me a grin, and stupid me, I wave.
I need to find James. Ask for advice.
I could ask for advice from Dad...or Mom. No, I’ll go to James.
Ah, there’s the little devil, sitting on the sofa with Lily. I approach them and sitting right in between them I say: “If it isn’t my favourite brother and sister.”
Lily rolls her eyes. “We are the only brother and sister you have Al, so that’s stupid for you to say.” Dad always said that if Lily grows up to be like mum, James and I will be in trouble. I almost gulp at my own imagination.
James chuckles. “What do you want Al?”
“How do you know I want something?”
“You only give me flattery when you either want me to help you with a prank or something else, and since I just helped you and Scorpius last week with a prank I am going for the something else.”
I mutter. “You know me too well. Lily don’t you have friends to see?”
“Fine, I’ll go, but next week you both have to bring me Chocolate Frogs from Hogsmeade.”
“We will Lily.” James and I say in unison. When she leaves James looks at me.
“What do you want then?”
“What do you think I should do for my first date in Hogsmeade?”
He sighs. “Really? Is that what you want to know? Why are you asking me and not mum?”
“Ermm...”
“Al, send a letter to mum or dad, ask them. You know my relationships never lasted long.”
“And why is that? Aren’t you romantic enough with them?” I smirk.
“No. They all want to go to Madame Puddifoot’s. I guess I’m still looking for the girl who hates it.”
He looks thoughtful for a moment. “Well, thanks anyways James.”
“No problem Al. Now you know I’m not always here for to mess your life but also to help you.”
Is it me or is James being really deep tonight? Well there’s a first time for everything.
“Good morning.” I beam at everyone at the table, while I sit next to Scorpius.
Everyone else responds with a cheerful ‘Good Morning’. I take a piece of toast from the platter and put some butter and jam on it.
While we eat breakfast there’s the usual chat about everything and nothing. When people start to walk outside we get up as well. We were going as a group all together until the gates and from then, Misty and I would go to our date while everyone else would do whatever they had planned.
As we finished breakfast, we all walk outside towards the gate, where Professor Clearwater is waiting to see our permission slips.
When she sees us, she says. “Good morning everyone. Permission slips?”
We all give them to her. “Well, have a good day.”
We walk a bit further and when we reach the entrance of Hogsmeade, Misty and I say goodbye to them as we go our different ways.
“So, what are we doing today?” Misty asks.
“I was thinking we should just take a nap or something...” Looking at her, I laugh so she’ll know it’s just a joke.
When we both stop, she asks. “Now, being serious what have you planned?”
“Well.” Give her my arm so she can hold on to it. “I was thinking we might go to The Three Broomsticks for a butterbeer for now, if that’s okay with you?”
“Yes, a butterbeer sounds just great.”
We walk to The Three Broomsticks, and opening the door the smell of food hits me. As usual the place is packed but we manage to find a corner table. I go to get the butterbeers while Misty stays sitting by the table.
As I’m waiting I notice Sophia sitting at a table with her parents. “Here you go, two butterbeers.” I thank Madame Rosmerta and I take the butterbeers to the table.
“So where were we?” I ask Misty taking a sip of my butterbeer.
“Erm...Oh! Could we go to Dominic Maestro’s shop after this?”
“Yeah sure. What do you need from there?” I ask out of curiosity.
She blushes. “Well, I wanted to buy a new music book.”
“Music book? I never knew you played! What instrument?”
“It’s only piano, and I’m not very good at it.”
“Yeah right, how long have you been playing?”
“Since I was seven.”
“Well that’s more than me.” She looks in confusion at me. “Yeah, my mum wanted all of us to learn how to play the piano, but James and I gave up right before we started school. Lily is the only one who keeps playing.”
“Well, what if I taught you?”
“I don’t know...Would you do it because you want me to learn piano or because you just want to spend some time with me and the piano, alone in a room?”
“Al!” She pokes me in the arm playfully.
“I’m joking! Well...I’ll think about your offer.”
“You’re a lazy bum.” She snickers.
I feign being offended. “I am not a lazy bum. How do you think I got these muscles?” I flex some of my biceps.
“Oh, you mean this fat you call muscles?” She pokes me in my tummy. I grab her hand and start tickling her.
She tries to tickle me as well, but only manages to get closer to me. Our faces get so close, that I can feel her breath on my face.
“Can I?” I ask her looking at her lips.
She motions closer to me. “Yes.” I kiss her soft lips, my hand on the small of her back, while hers is on my neck. We pull apart, but our eyes keep locked in each other’s. I can see her eyes twinkling. She is as happy as me.
And before I can stop myself I just blurt out. “Will you be my girlfriend?” It was probably kind of obvious that we would be dating, but I wanted to makes things official. No indecisions.
“What would you do if I said no?”
That stops my heart. She wouldn’t say no, would she? “I would throw myself off the Astronomy Tower! Please sa-“
“Yes, Al.” She says, kissing me so I would shut up.
We stay for a little bit more in The Three Broomsticks as we finish our butterbeers (I had to drink the rest of Misty’s because she was full.). We left and went to Dominic Maestro’s, where Misty bought two music books. Apparently one of them was so she could teach me.
As we left the music shop, we went to Honeydukes’ so we could refill our stash of sweets and buy some Chocolate Frogs for Lily like I had promised. When we came out, I went through the door first, but forgot to hold it for Misty. All I heard was an “oww.” And looking at Misty covering her nose, I tried to say ‘sorry’ as many times as possible.
“It’s okay Al. Yes, I’m serious.” She says when she notices my worried face. “You should go to St. Mungos because of your eyes, you’re not seeing things very well.”
“Ha ha, was that a joke? Cause you failed miserably! I’m sorry!”
“I’m fine Al!”
“Maybe a kiss would make it better?”
“Oh I get it. You just want to kiss me.”
“I was talking about kissing your nose, but okay.” I kiss her on the lips, taking her by surprise.
When we pull apart she smiles. “You are so cute and cunning. I wonder why you aren’t in Slytherin.” Ouch. She knows I don’t want to be reminded of that.
“And you are evil, and you are still a Gryffindor. The world isn’t what it used to be anymore.” I tut at her.
She rolls her eyes at me. “Well, I’m cold, so what do you say to you hugging me and we get back to the Castle?”
“Ah, see, you could have been in Ravenclaw with those witty remarks.”
“Shut up witty boyfriend of mine.”
We enter the Common Room and giving Misty a kiss on the cheek, I walk towards my two best friends while Misty goes up to her room.
Something was going on between Scorpius and Rose. Normally they would sit on the sofa together in front of the fireplace, but tonight they were sitting in the opposite armchairs next to the sofa, when the sofa is clearly empty.
“What’s wrong with you two?” I ask while sitting myself in the empty sofa.
Scorpius lifts up his head. “What are you talking about?” Rose is also looking at me now.
“Well, did you have a fight or something?”
“Why would you think that Al? We just decided to sit in the armchairs, is there something wrong with that?” Rose asks.
She does have a point. I hate it when she has a point. “No. I was just wondering, nothing else. So how was your day?”
“It was great. You can ask Scorpius for details, because right now, I’m more interested in what you and Misty did today, so I’ll go talk to her. Goodnight boys.” She smiles and leaves.
I turn to Scorpius. “So, what did you do today?”
“We just wandered about Hogsmeade. We bought a lot of sweets.” They are avoiding me. My cousin and my best mate are hiding something from me.
“Good. So we can make a sweet party tomorrow in our dormitory?” Ah, good memories.
“Ah, I miss our sweet parties.”
Hmmm I wonder if they are hiding something...What do you think?
