I had just graduated from Hogwarts and I stood at Platform 9 ¾ leaving the Hogwarts Express for the very last time, I stood waiting not for my parents but for my betrothed, I stood scanning the faces for the one and only Draco Malfoy.
Soon after finishing my 6th year at Hogwarts I was to marry Draco, I sat in my manner with my brother Alex who had just graduated from Hogwarts, my father Stephan, and my mother Meredith. Alex was politely listening to all my parents delirious wedding plans, he had learned better than to mouth off to our father after my engagement party. Alex knew I had a plan in my head and he was waiting for me to act on it so he could back me up. I had decided since my father worried far more about my academics than my mother I could perhaps convince him to postpone the wedding until my graduation from Hogwarts. As soon as my mother left room I winked at Alex.
“I would like to speak to you as an adult, I have a request of sorts.”
My father raised an eyebrow but I was being far to polite and respectful for him to object, “Yes?”
“I would like to postpone the wedding until I have graduated from Hogwarts. I do not think it would benefit me to be married and worry about being a wife when I should be concerned with my N.E.WT.S.”
My father raised his eyebrow in thought and I expected a full scale argument, but he sat quietly. So Alex decided to put in his opinion.
“I think that is a really great idea Carlie, you absolutely should be able to completely focus on school.”
“Thank you Alex, I really want to do well on my N.E.W.T.S because Father I know you want more for me than to be a house wife.” I made my biggest saddest eyes at him.
“Meredith!” my father called.
My mother instantly appeared and looked at my father, “Yes Stephan?”
“Carlie and Alex believe it is a good idea for her to finish school before her and Draco getting married.” my father stated.
Meredith made a disgusted face and furrowed her eyebrows, “I don’t think that is a good idea Stephan.”
“Mother please it would really be in my best interest.” I pleaded.
My mother who had never had any aspiration in her life other than to be a pureblood trophy wife kept her disgusted look, “Stephan you don’t really-”
My father had his look of finality, where his decision would be law so I held my breath, “Actually Meredith I think it is a fantastic idea, Carlie’s education is of the utmost importance, and yes of course a traditional arranged pureblood marriage is very important to, but as her father I have decided her education comes first at the moment. I will go see Lucius myself and explain the situation, the wedding is postponed until after Carlie graduates from Hogwarts.”
I smiled and so did Alex
As I reminisced in probably the only victory I had every won with my parents I felt hands wrap away my waist.
“Hello gorgeous.” A soft kiss on the cheek, and he let his arms fall off my waist.
“Draco,” I turned around and beamed at him.
Out of the corner of my eye I caught a green eyed dark haired boy kissing a red head on the cheek, and I looked down at the ground, Harry still had not said a word to me. I still missed him, merlin knows how many owls he had returned to me no response, my letter unopened, it kind of broke my heart in a way. Although Ginny had been nothing but nice to me at school I secretly hoped she would be able to get Harry to talk to me again, but it had never worked. As I tried to push the thoughts of Harry from my mind I felt crushing arms around me.
I turned to face Alex who winked at me.
“Alex you almost killed me.” I laughed, and he just chuckled.
“Well let’s get this show on the road, the rehearsal dinner is in three hours and Mum will never let anyone see you like that.”
With that me, Alex, and Draco apparated to the Reeve Manor. Where everything was as always in full swing, and nothing would slow it down not even the only daughter, and bride returning home from graduating school.
