I'm sorry this one is so long but I needed to get alot said in this chapter!
i do not own any of these characters, obviously except Keeley, who is my own OC!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a glorious Friday afternoon. The sun was shining and the birds singing gaily from the tree tops. I had taken a book outside, tired of the spring chills, and had sat on one of the many old walls to read it, enjoying the rare sunshine. Albus was sat on the ground in front of me, entertaining some younger students.
“So anyway there I was surrounded, by twenty Acromantulas each as big as a car when…”
I shook my head and looked up from the book I was reading,
“Al we all know that those ‘Acromantulas’ were actually common house spiders” I commented using my fingers to make quotation marks in the air.
“AND that you had to call your mum to get rid of them” I added cheekily, putting my book down and jumping up.
Albus blushed and tried to regain the interest of his fist year audience, but to no avail. They all left in search of better things to do.
“Ah Keeley what was that for?!” Albus whined lolloping after me.
“I‘m sorry Al but I will not have you corrupting the mind of young students!” I answered turning my head away from him. He planted himself in front of me and held onto both my shoulders, stopping me from going anywhere. I looked down at the floor.
“Keeley look at me” Albus asked
I shook my head playfully and he put his hand under my chin, to pull my face up to meet his. For a moment we both didn’t move and just looked into each others eyes. The sun created a golden halo around his head, making his trademark wont-stay-flat hair even more obviously messy. I liked it that way and he knew it. Slowly, his face leaned into mine and…
“Ally!” someone squealed putting their hands over Albus’ eyes.
He reluctantly let go of my chin and turned around to greet his girlfriend.
“Carna!” He exclaimed, it pleased me to notice his voice sounded slightly strained.
Without warning she pulled his face down to her level and kissed him full on the mouth, Sickened at the sight I walked away my book clutched tightly to my chest, trying to hold back the tears, that threatened to overwhelm me.
I heard Albus call after me, but I ducked my head down and doubled my speed.
I had no idea where I was going but headed towards the forest, my bag, full of the days work, bashing carelessly into people walking down the corridors.
Not looking where I was going I ran into Someone a lot taller than me and fell to the floor, the contents of my bag scattering everywhere. An ink bottle had smashed soaking one of my essays and all my books. Tears came to my eyes obscuring my vision. I groped about on the floor slowly gathering my things.
I reached out to pick up a text book but my hand encountered someone else’s. I quickly pulled my hand back and looked up into the face of Scorpius Malfoy, who I recognised because he shared a dorm and was good friends with Al in Slytherin.
“I‘m so-o-rr-ry” I stuttered busting into tears. In an attempt to stop the waterworks I rubbed my ink stained hands over my eyes, not caring, for once what I looked like.
“No don’t cry!” he panicked picking up my stuff up and dumping it in my bag. He hesitantly patted my shoulder and I instinctively grasped onto his shirt and cried harder, each sob racking my body.
“Er ok!” He said trying to prise my hands of him. When he realised that I wasn’t letting go anytime soon, and we were blocking up the corridor, he snatched up my bag and scooped me up into his arms. I rested my head against his chest and then fell asleep.
I opened my eyes to the leafy green canopy above me. My eyes were sore and my body stiff. I sat up and ran my fingers through my shoulder length, golden brown hair, to try to detangle the knots.
“your awake then” a male voice said from my left.
Scorpius Malfoy was sat with his back against a giant oak, reading what appeared to be natures nobilities.
Then everything that had happened dawned upon me and I felt the blood rush to my face. I groped around on the floor next to me for my wand.
“My wand…?” I asked my croaky voice rising with fear. I coughed to clear my throat.
“here” Scorpius reassured me throwing it for me to catch.. I caught it just bashing my wrist on a tree.
“thanks” I thanked him sheepishly.
He got up and walked over so he was stood in front of me, then sat down. For the first time I noticed how handsome he was. Blond hair, grey eyes, straight nose and a strong jaw line. I had a sudden urge to stroke his face.
“are you ok?” He asked sincerely, snapping me out of the random fantasy.
I chuckled “lots of people have asked me that recently” I admitted sighing.
“how come? Has something happened?” He responded sounding truly concerned, his surprisingly deep eyes probing my face intently.
I thought about what to say for a little while then replied “My dad was attacked by some death eaters a while back and is still in St Mungos unconscious.”
Whatever Scorpius expected me to say it wasn’t that. I could see he felt kind of guilty for asking me and didn’t know what to say.
“It‘s ok though” I added as an after thought, not wanting it to me my fault if the atmosphere suddenly became awkward.
“No it‘s not, its far from ok” He said his hands clenched into fists.
I tilted my head to the side, as I normally did when I was confused.
“It makes me so… mad when people have to suffer because of those stupid death eaters, who are in denial about Voldermort coming back” He expressed passionately.
This confused me even more. “no offence, but aren‘t you all for them, as your the son of a well known death eater?” I enquired.
Furry flared in Scorpius’ eyes and I could tell I’d really stepped in it. “Why does EVERYONE assume that?!” He shouted getting up and turning away from me.
I hesitantly got up and placed my hand on his shoulder. He flinched as my cold hand touched his skin. My arm recoiled instinctively, “I‘m so…”
I was interrupted with a muttered ” just forget it”. With a twitch of his shoulder he stalked off further into the forest, leaving me lost and alone.
This thought didn’t particularly scare me, as I generally feel at peace when in amongst trees and plants. When I was little I used to see faces in the gnarly bark and I used to pretend that the trees would whispered my name when the wind blew through their leaves.
I laughed at my foolishness, but couldn’t help remember the stories my dad used to tell me about where my mum was. Thinking of the stories brought back a memory, as clear as if it happened only yesterday.
“Just one more story daddy, please!” begged a seven year old Keeley from her bed.
“All right pumpkin, just one more” her father replied stroking his little girls head.
He rearranged his position on the bed so Keeley could snuggle into his arms and rest her head on his chest.
“In the land of day dreams and dew drops,” He began slowly, emphasising each word. “There lived a beautiful elf maiden who went by the name of Victoria ”
“Mummy!” Keeley interrupted.
“Yes, anyway, Victoria could speak to the trees and some said that she could even turn herself into one. Of course if she ever was a tree she would be a cherry blossom- as that’s the most beautiful tree there is.
One day Victoria met a man who went by the name of John. Now john wasn’t the strongest or handsomest or even cleverest man in the village, but Victoria was drawn to him all the same. They fell in love and had a beautiful baby girl whom they named Keeley because her beauty was so pure.
One day John awoke and Victoria wasn‘t there. He picked up Keeley and went into the forest and called out her name again and again, but no one answered.
John was forced to live his life without sign or whisper of his beautiful wife… but on Keeley‘s first birthday John found a cherry blossom on the little girls pillow… The end, now off to bed!”
Keeley thought for a moment then said” So is mummy a tree somewhere?”
Her dad pinched the bridge of his nose “I don‘t know princess, I just don’t know.”
With that John Rosenthal planted a kiss on his daughters head and departed the room, turning the light off as he went.
I sighed at the memory, I never did find out what happened to my mother, I never thought to ask. Thinking back I do faintly remember a cherry blossom, it was always on top of my dad’s chest of drawers next to a picture of my mum. The faded photograph showed someone with thick dark brown hair falling way past her shoulders, her eyes were blue and she had a rounded face.
It pleased me that I could see certain features of mine in this photo. Like my rounded face and thick lashes. My eyes aren’t blue like my mum’s, but hazel, green with tawny flecks.
Without warning the sun disappeared behind some clouds and rain began to fall heavily. Each drop that landed made a splash sound, making the forest seem more alive.
Foolishly I never thought to cast a water repellent charm. I let the rain soak me right through. My hair turned to rat tails and stayed plastered to my head. I could feel the little mascara that had not smudged from crying, run down my face.
The rain made me feel more energised than I had felt in weeks, so I lifted my hands to the sky and spun around in circles making myself extremely dizzy. I didn’t care though. I fell to the floor, getting covered in mud in the process and laughed with exhilaration.
Somewhere in the distance I heard several voices calling my name. At first I truly thought it was the trees, then two people ran into the little clearing where I was stood.
The rain made it difficult for me to see who these boys were, the gathering darkness didn’t help either.
“Keeley what are you doing” they both shouted in unison. The boys both looked in the others direction, apparently unaware that they weren’t the only one looking for me.
One of the boys ran forward and grabbed onto my wrist. I could just make out a pair of brown eyes peeping out from a mop of black hair.
“Al?” I questioned, my tongue heavy and confused as to why he was here.
“Yes! What do you think your doing?! Your going to catch a cold or something” He replied
Now Al mentioned it I did feel cold. But knowing he’d come out to find me, made my insides go all warm.
“Hey!” the other boy shouted starting forward.
“Scorpius?!” Albus shouted sounding shocked.
“yeh! What are you doing here?” Scorpius hollered back, as the wind had picked up
“I‘d come to find Keeley. What about you?” Albus questioned suspiciously.
“same, I stormed off earlier leaving her here” He turned to face me, “I‘m so sorry Keeley, I shouldn’t have left you”
I didn’t get why he was apologising, as it was my fault he had left me in the first place. But I just nodded as I suddenly felt very tired.
Albus pointed his lit wand at my hand which was in his grip, and Scorpius did the same.
“Oh my gosh she‘s gone blue” He exclaimed panic edging his voice.
Intrigued I looked at the hand they were pointing at. I was mildly shocked by the fact that my skin, especially at the tips of my fingers, was tinged a blue colour.
“We need to get her back to the castle” one of the boys stated, I was losing focus, so didn’t know who said it.
One of the two boys picked me up, cradling me in his arms, whilst the other shrugged off their jacket (which had been impregnated with the water repellent charm) and put it over me. They then ran through the forest. After about five minutes we were out by the game keepers hut. It turned out that we weren’t that far into the forest after all.
Once inside the castle they took me to the hospital wing. By this point I was shivering and everything seemed distorted.
Scorpius, for in the light I could make out who everyone was, lowered me gently onto one of the hospital beds. He then stepped back to stand with Albus who was waiting by the door.
“I don‘t need” I mumbled as madam pompfrey undressed me, leaving me in my underwear.
“I‘m sorry dear but the fastest way to get you warm is to give you a bath”
Both boys looked very uncomfortable with basically naked me sat there. Albus was scuffing his toe against the floor and Scorpius looking at the floor as if it was highly fascinating.
“you boys can go now” Madam pompfrey said, finally noticing them.
Relieved they left the room in a hurry, as If they’d been chased by a swarm of bees.
Madame pomfrey gave me a bath making the water hotter as I got warmer. Once I was no longer blue, I got into one of the beds and was given a sleeping draught. Within minutes of taking it I fell into a deep sleep.
I had a dream that I was standing alone in a really bright meadow. There was a pond in the middle, so I floated over and noticed that instead of fish, everyone I loved was swimming about, looking rather gormless. I saw Albus and my head started spinning. One of the swimming people teleported out of the water next to me. It was Al. He strolled over to me and took one of my hands into both of his.
He moved his mouth, as if he
