After breakfast Al and I went out shopping in London. It was Al’s idea, I don’t know what he was thinking but I’m just going to go along with it. After going into a few shops and purchasing nothing we came to the third a vintage clothing store. “Good morning,” The cahier smiled happily at us.
“Hello,” I replied curtly. Al and I walked further into the store I saw this black and white checkered dress with red halter straps and a red ribbon around the bust that looked as though it would just hit my knees. “Al, I’m going to try this on,” I said and headed to the fitting room. It fit perfectly as though it were made for me. Changed back into my cloths quickly wanting to tell Al, I was going to buy it but by the time I got out of the dressing room he had disappeared. “Al?” I called out. I went to the front desk with the dress. “You didn’t see the guy I walked in here with did you?” I asked her as she rung up the dress.
“Actually he just went out the front door,” The lady said.
“Thank you,” I paid for the dress and left. I saw Al down the street with one of his friends. I could tell who it was from so far away but, when I got closer I noticed that it was Rick Masters. “Hey Al why didn’t you tell me you were going to leave the store?” I asked.
“Sorry,” Al said sheepishly “I saw Rick and I wanted to catch him before he disappeared.”
“Oh, Hi,” I said.
“How long are you going to let this last Al?” Rick said. “I mean I can understand the last couple of months of school but through the summer, don’t you think that this is going to hold you back?”
“Excuse me?” Al turned to Rick. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“You and Andy this can’t last she’s still got a year left of school!”
“Listen to me when I told you I didn’t want you to say anything about her and me to being together I meant it. I love her and the fact that she has another year of school left doesn’t mean anything to me. I don’t think we can be friends Rick.” Al said taking my hand and we headed away from Rick. I stopped us a couple of blocks away. “I’m sorry,” Al said to me. “If I had any Idea he was thinking that I wouldn’t have tried to talk to him at all.”
“I love you,” I said pressing my lips to his. “But, if you use me as a reason to not be friends with your friends I don’t think it’s going to work between us.”
“Rick, was never really my friend sure we talked and hung out, but we weren’t really friends. Jerry was my best friend and he came to terms with you and me a long time ago.”
“How long?” I wondered out loud.
“I’d say it was when he first admitted to me that he liked you I think it was eleven months before you got together,” Jerry’s unmistakable deep voice said from the ally way next to us. We looked over to see him with a girl that I knew to be Jamie White. “You guys know Jamie right?” Jerry asked.
“Yeah,” Al said.
“How are you guys?” I asked.
“We’re good,” Jamie smiled. “I can see you two are still going strong.”
“How did James react when he found out?” Jerry asked.
“Well he didn’t kill me so I think we’re lucky,” Al said.
“He was confused,” I said. “But he got over it, after all that’s what best friends do right?”
“Yeah,” Jerry agreed. “We should double sometime, I think it would be fun.”
“It would we could make it a triple James has a girlfriend now as well,” I said.
“James has a girlfriend?” Jamie asked.
“Yeah, they met at the ministry. They go so well together too,” I said.
“It was great seeing you but we’ve got to go mum’s making dinner and she would hurt me if we were late!” Al said. “I’ll owl you about a triple of whatever.”
“Cool, we’ll see you soon.” Al and I made our way to the leaky cauldron and flood back to the potter home. Lily was pacing the living room when we arrived. We watched her for a few minutes.
“Lily is everything okay? Why are you dressed so nice?” I asked.
“The minister of magic is coming to dinner you better hurry and get changed into something nice before he gets her mum’s in a tizzy and James is cranky because he couldn’t invite Alyssa, and Dad’s still not home from work,” Lily said. “I was giving the job to usher you to get ready! So hurry.”
I hurried into Lily’s room and pulled out the dress I had bought earlier I didn’t think it would come in handy so quickly I pulled it over my head and grabbed my wand looking through one of my spell books trying to find a quick nice updo spell. I found one and preformed it perfectly and then I pulled on my black pumps and headed to the stairs where I met Al dressed in a black suit with a checkered tie that matched my dress. We entered the living room where Lily, James, Mrs. Potter and Mr. Potter were waiting for us to come in. “Oh thank Merlin you got down here just in time. You look beautiful Andy,” Mrs. Potter said nervously. I took Al’s hand in mine. James grabbed my other I looked over at him questioningly.
“Please don’t let go, I’ve always wanted to meet Minister Anderson, He was one of the greatest quiddich players in the world until he lost some of his sight.” James whispered to me. Minister Anderson arrived through the floo network.
“Minister Anderson what a pleasure it is to have you for dinner,” Mr. Potter greeted him. “This is my wife Ginny,” he started the introductions. “My eldest son James, he’s one the chuddley cannons team this year, my son Albus he was accepted to healer school, and my youngest daughter Lily, she’s still at school. And that lovely young woman is Albus’ girlfriend Andrea Wood.”
“Wood, as in Oliver Wood?” Minister Anderson asked.
“Yes, sir he’s my father,” I said.
“He was a very talented quiddich player,” Anderson compliments.
“I’ll be sure to pass on the compliments.”
“Shall we sit to have dinner?” Mrs. Potter asked. Dinner started out with awkward silences and small talk. James kept running his fingers through his hair nervously. When dinner ended James, Lily, Al and I were excused we headed to the back yard.
“That was uncomfortable,” Lily shrugged. “I’m going to run away next time mum says that we have to dress nice for company.”
“Me too,” James said. “Even though Anderson is my quiddich idle.”
“Why couldn’t you invite Alyssa?” Al asked.
“I didn’t have enough time to prepare for it.” James said. “Anyone want to go up to the tree house that way they can’t find us?” James suggested.
“That’s the best Idea you’ve had all day” Lily said. “Last one there has to smell James’ dirty sock!” Lily said taking off for the tree house I pulled my shoes of quickly and followed her, Al right behind me and James pulling the rear.
“James now that you lost the race what are you going to do next?” Lily asked in her fake TV voice.
“I guess I’ve got to smell my dirty sock!”
