The red head slammed the door of her flat, shrugging of her white Healer’s coat in the same move. Glancing at the clock, she sighed; Remus and Sirius wouldn’t be over for at least two more hours.

She quickly changed into some sweats and pulled her hair up in a messy ponytail. Remus and Sirius had graduated two months ago. She lay down on the couch, grabbing a worn book and starting it. Halfway through the third chapter, however, she closed her eyes tight, the name ‘James’ in the book bringing back an onslaught of unwanted memories.

Oh, How about a round of applause, Yeah
A standing ovation
Oh, Yeah
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

She was knocked out of her memories when her muggle doorbell rang, startling her so much that she fell off the couch and hit her head on the corner of the coffee table. She swore loudly, and holding her head, stood up and made her way over to the front door.

She opened the door widely, a grin on her face.

The grin fell off completely when she saw who was at the doorstep.

She moved to slam the door, but he caught it.

“Lily, wait, we have to talk!” He exclaimed, fighting against her astoundingly strong force against the door.

“Potter, I do not want to talk to you. So kindly remove yourself from my doorstep!” She retorted back, shoving harder, her voice cold.

“I’m sorry!” He yelled, dropping the large bouquet of flowers and beginning to push with both hands, “I was stupid, and I’m sorry I hurt you!”

She rolled her eyes, glaring at the black haired man adorned in his world Quidditch robes, the one who broke her heart; shattered it.

“I’m telling you again. Get the fuck off my doorstep,” She said, her voice colder, her eyes scrunched up.

She opened her green orbs and saw a tear fall out of his own.

You look so dumb right now
Standing outside my house
Trying to apologize
You're so ugly when you cry
Please, just cut it out

“Don’t tell me you’re sorry. I know you’re only sorry I caught you.” She spat, ignoring the tears falling down both of their cheeks. With that, she finally slammed the door.

Don't tell me you're sorry cause you're not
Baby when I know you're only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
Really had me going
But now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closing
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it's over now
Go on and take a bow

The next day, Lily Evans found herself seated on a bench in the park a few blocks away from her flat. She leaned back as her eyes shut once more.

“We really need to talk.” a horribly familiar voice said. She opened her eyes again to see James Potter standing in front of her, holding a new bouquet of flowers.

“We do not need to talk,” She said, her voice calm.

“Look, Lily, I love you. I think you’re the one,” He said, his voice sounding tired as he ran a hand though his hair.

“I’ll bet you said that quite a few times in your life,” She said, “Almost like a re-run.”

He looked pained.

“I need something new, something else,” She whispered, her voice filled with pain, as she left him standing in the park, the sprinklers newly coming on.

Grab your clothes and get gone (get gone)
You better hurry up
Before the sprinklers come on (come on)
Talking' bout'
Girl, I love you, you're the one
This just looks like a re-run
Please, what else is on (on)

“STOP TELLING ME THAT!!” Lily screamed, after running into James at the ice cream shop in Diagon Alley, “You are an amazing actor, Potter, but it’s over now. The curtain’s closing. It’s done. Fuck off.”

With that, she smashed her ice cream in his face and stormed away.

Don't tell me you're sorry cause you're not
Baby when I know you're only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
Really had me going
But now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closing
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it's over now

“I do love you,” He insisted, after having forced his friends to kidnap her and bring her to the Ministry party.

She glared for a second before grabbing an empty goblet. James flinched.

“And the award for the world’s best liar goes to….” She said, her voice sounding like that of a game show, “JAMES PRAT-HEAD POTTER!!!”

He stared as she thrust the goblet into his hands.

“Do you want to know why?” She asked, her voice twisted and low.

He shook his head, but she continued anyway, “Because you made me believe that I was different, that you would be faithful. And it still hurts even now.”

He stayed silent.

“Please leave me alone.”

She walked away again.

Oh, And the award for
The best liar goes to you (goes to you)
For making me believe (that you)
That you could be faithful to me
Let's hear your speech, Oh

“DO YOU ENJOY CAUSING ME PAIN?!?!” She shrieked, seeing him seated outside her front door.

“No! Of course not! But you have to listen to me, just for a minute!” He pleaded, standing up.

He finally ditched the stupid flowers, Lily thought bitterly.

“Look, Lily, I love you, and I know that you don’t believe me, but I do, and I always will,” He said, backing away.

“That was a good show,” She whispered, “You almost got me, but it’s really time for you to go. Go on and take a bow. Then leave. I have a date tonight.”

James looked at her once more before nodding and leaving silently, not seeing her break down and cry over him again.

How about a round of applause
A standing ovation

But you put on quite a show
Really had me going
Now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closing
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it's over now (but it's over now)
Go on and take a bow
But it's over now

Little did he know, that she spent the whole night shedding tears over him, being comforted by his two best mates.

“REMUS FUCKIN’ LUPIN OPEN THE BLOODY DOOR RIGHT THIS MOMENT BEFORE I BLAST IT OFF THE BLOODY HINGES IN THE NEXT FIVE SECONDS!!!!” Lily screamed, banging loudly and rapidly on Remus’s and Sirius’s shared flat’s front door.

When she got no answer, she whipped out her wand and yelled, “REDUCT-”

“I’M COMING, YOU BLOODY WOMAN!!!” Sirius’s yell came from inside the flat, cutting off her spell.

She smirked smugly as she replaced her wand back in her purse as the lock clicked and Sirius Black through the door wide open.

“What.” He began, “Could possibly be so important that you actually began the spell?!”

“I really need to talk to Remus,” She spat, her hands shaking as she pushed past a shirtless Sirius and into the boys’ flat.

Sirius shrugged, knowing not to bother her at the present moment, and followed her in, shaking out his mussed hair.

She sprawled across the couch, comfortable with the messy setting, and closed her eyes, tossing her arms over her head, covering it up.

“I’ll… just… erm… go fetch him then?” He asked cautiously, relieved when she nodded, her posture much more tired than before, slouching, looking almost small against the large overstuffed couch.

Sirius literally ran over to Remus’s room; where he proceeded to barge in, drag the poor blonde out of bed, and all the way to Lily’s feet.

“Here’s Remus,” He rushed out, sitting on the coffee table, ignoring the glares coming from his blonde friend.

“Lily?” Remus asked, standing up and moving to the foot of the couch, ready for whatever rant she had this time.

He was not, however, expecting her to fly into his arms and start bawling her eyes out.

Sirius looked very scared, and moved over, the both of them rubbing her back and trying to comfort the red head.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, and it probably was, Lily’s cries of pain subsided into little sniffles and an occasional bitter laugh.

“I love him,” She muttered bitterly, fingering her hair, before either boy could ask, “FOUR bloody years and I still fuckin’ love him. I’m pathetic.”

She laughed again before sitting up, frowning, and wiping her eyes.

“I am so pathetic. So fuckin’ pathetic that I can’t even get over my SCHOOL boyfriend, the one from my unfinished seventh year, the one that I broke up with, because he cheated of course, the one that shattered my heart. AND I STILL BLOODY LOVE HIM!!!!” She screamed, standing up and facing the two boys who were sitting calmly, waiting out her rant.

“AND DO YOU KNOW WHY I STILL LOVE HIM? WHY I HAVE FINALLY COME TO TERMS TO WHAT HAS BEEN SO PATHETICALLY OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE BUT ME?!?!” She continued, moving her arms around violently as she began pacing, “BECAUSE I SAW HIM TONIGHT. I SAW HIM AND HIS STUPID BINT OF A DATE AT MY BAR AND HE LOOKED SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT MY STUPID OVERCARING SELF JUST HAD TO GO AND INTERVINE. AND THEN WE DANCED, I TOTALLY DISSED HIS DATE, AND I LITERALY FELT THE STUPID PASSION SWIRLING AROUND US. AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT I DID WHEN THE DANCE WAS OVER?! DO YOU?!?!” She screamed, even louder, addressing the boys, Sirius who looked slightly terrified.

“I FREAKING SMILED, WAVED, THANKED HIM FOR THE STUPID LIFE-CHANGING DANCE, AND LEFT! LEFT!! LIKE NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY HAPPENED!!!!!!

Lily Evans collapsed in a fresh round of hysterical sobs, curling up in the middle of the boys’ living room, causing both of them to jump out of their seats. Remus caught her before she hit her head, and Sirius helped him set her down on the floor, both boys comforting her again.

“And I still love him,” She whispered, her eyes rimmed in red, when she stopped again, “Is that normal?”

Sirius said nothing, looking to Remus for answers when Lily turned to him.

“I think,” Remus murmured after a few moments of silence, “That love is something unstoppable. That once you experience it with the right person, no matter how hard you try, it can’t be forgotten. And you experienced it with James.”

“Potter,” Lily corrected reflexively, wiping her eyes again, trying not to appear affected to Remus’s words. “And I will squash these feelings. It’s just a long-over-due crush. Puppy love. I will do it.”

Remus and Sirius shared worried looks before looking at her again.

“Don’t do anything drastic, Lily,” Sirius warned, his voice laced with apprehension.

“I won’t, so stop worrying. I just need to find ‘The One’.”

She rolled her eyes and stood up, waving before Apparating out of the flat.

“Do you get the feeling that this will either end hideously, or wonderfully?” Sirius asked Remus after a few moments of silence.

“I hope it’s the latter,” Remus responded, standing up and stretching before going back into his room and fully planning on getting the sleep he wanted.

“Me too,” Sirius whispered.

A/N: Yes, I am very aware of the suckish ending, but I really wanted to have something after the memory. I do have a third one written, and it'll be up soon enough. Did you like this? I didn't much.... But I am also aware that I don't have a chapter image, and this is because I didn't make one yet, and I wanted to get this up now because of the super-super-fast queue. So please review!!

NOTE: That huge hunk of ITALICS is the flashback. Just to clarify. :)

EDIT 4/1: C'mon, 500 reads and still only two reviews? Really? I'm sad. Please review. I'll mention your name on the next chapter!

ANOTHER EDIT 4/7: Ahem... Attention all. I meant next story in my trilogy plus one series (I am not sure of the correct term for four stories). Not the next chapter. There will be no other chapter, just another story. Which is coming out in about three days, give or take. You know, the queue...
