James is an excellent driver, seeing as we haven't crashed. Yet.
The radio has just finished playing "Love Me" by Justin Bieber and is now playing "Tik Tok"by Ke$ha. I start singing along.
"Don't stop, make it pop, DJ turn my speakers up tonight. I'm a fight, 'til we see the sudden lights..."
James chuckles. I give him a confused look. He smiles and shakes his head.
"Your singing voice is very beautiful," he says. I blush and my magiphone vibrates. Magiphones are phones that let you have the ability to join in a text/call conversation at any given time and you already know what the conversation is about (don't ask, it's really complicated).
Help! - Ally
I need somebody!
Help! Not just anybody.
Help! You know I need someone.
Oh, ha ha! Y'all are bitches.
Oh, chill, Ally! At least you don't have Black with you.
I'd rather have Sirius than Longbottom!
Al, you know you're head over heels for him.
Yeah, you're right.
Wait... Al just admitted she's in love!
HA! Y'all owe me three galleons. EACH!
Aw, Lils! No fair! Just 'cause Nat coaxes it out of her doesn't mean we have to pay you.
According to the bet, yes, you do. Nat can keep hers, though.
YOU GUYS BET ON MY LOVE LIFE?!
It was Ally's idea!
How could you?! How can you turn on your own sister, Alana?!
Will you five just SHUT UP?!?!
EYES ON THE ROAD, BLACK!
I look in the rearview mirror to see the car behind us swerve. I laugh. James looks pleased.
Good going, Sirius.
Your input isn't helping, Evans!
KEEP YOUR FUCKING EYES ON THE FUCKING ROAD!
Natalie, just yell at him in person! You're right next to him!
I. REFUSE. TO. TALK. TO. HIM!!!!!!!
I turn off the device and go back to singing. I pick up a magazine from the floor. It's called What's In at Hogwarts. It's a magazine that started up in our third year and mainly follows the Marauders and my friends. I read a scandal about how all the seventh year Gryffindors were chased out of Hogwarts by Death Eaters. I grab James' hand in mine. He kisses my knuckles and holds my fingers. We sit in a comfortable silence for a while.
"Thank you for not saying anything about me."
"We're almost there. Just to let you know," he says, smiling. I sit up in my seat, moving my box as I adjust. My box contains my wood and plastic clarinets, my baby grand piano (I used an expansion spell), my music, and my music stands. I drum my fingers on the 'music' box (it really says 'music' on it's side).
We turn onto West Apple Front Boulevard and onto the first driveway. James turns the car off and we sit in silence for a few seconds. He looks at me.
"You know, Miss Evans," he says, smirking. "I've been meaning to ask you something for a really long time now." He leans over so that we're mere centimeters apart.
"Lily Marie Evans," he whispers. "Will you go out with me?"
"Oh, James," I say sternly, like i was about to deny him the chance of dating me. His face has fallen. I smile. "You didn't use my new last name, silly boy! It's Lily Potter now, remember?" His eyes lit up.
"So, that's a yes?"
"You're an idiot to think otherwise," I say, crushing my lips to his. We make out until someone knocks on our window. I turn to see Sirius getting towed away by the ear by Natalie. I laugh and James groans.
"I'm gonna kill that boy," he mutters. I laugh more and get out of the car. The house is two stories and has red bricks. I sigh and walk into the house. I set my box down and - magically - start taking things out. James walks in with three boxes in his hands and places them at the bottom of the stairs. Thus, we begin the process of moving in.
THREE HOURS LATER
James and I are currently curled up on the couch, enjoying each others' company. It started raining about an hour ago. Suddenly, there is a knock on the door. I look at James and get up. Ally, Alana, and Natalie are all standing outside, crying and soaked.
"Girls! You three shouldn't be out here at..." I look at the clock on the wall. "Nine at night! What were you three thinking?!" I ask as they walk through the door.
"I'll, uh, just be upstairs," James mumbles.
"Remus is a werewolf," Ally says, tears beginning to run down her face. James and I freeze. I've known this fact since third year, when the other Marauders had all gotten the swine flu. Remus had told me. I'd cried because one of my friends was in pain.
"How'd you find out?" James turns around and puts his arm around my waist.
"He told me. Just now. And Lily's a bloody traitor!" I smack her on the arm.
"Just 'cause you start going out with a Marauder, Lils," Alana says. "Doesn't mean you can't tell us!" She squeals and hugs James and me. Nat and Ally do the same, albeit Ally's was grudgingly. We talk for awhile about relationships - Ally and Nat admit that they actually do like Remus and Sirius. Everyone knows that Alana likes Peter. Then they leave to go back to their houses. And finally, finally, James and I are alone.
"Well, well, well," he says as I make my way up to our bedroom (it has the only bed in the house). "If it isn't my delicate flower." I smile and walk over to James, who is on our bed. I take his hand in mine and peck his lips.
"I need to get ready for bed. Can you wait one minute, please?" He nods, sighing. I go pull out a pair of short shorts and a tank top and walk into the bathroom. After five minutes, I walk out and find James, laying in bed with nothing but cotton pajama bottoms.
Damn. He's hot. I blink, looking away from his six pac and blushing. He laughs.
"Lils, it's ok. You're my girlfriend now. You can stare if you want to," he says. I laugh and crawl into bed next to him. I place my lips on top of his. the kiss starts out slow, but starts building momentum. Before I know it, James is on top of me, hands in my hair, and totally out of breath. We break for air. I smile while he blushes. I touch his cheek.
"I love you, James," I say.
"I love you, too," he murmurs. Then he kisses my forehead. "And it's almost midnight. Goodnight, Lily."
"Goodnight, James." After a few seconds, I fall asleep.
