The end of the summer came quickly for Draco as he looked over the books that he needed for the new Theater class. He had sent word when he received his letter that he would be taking the new class. Most of his summer had been sent hanging out with Blaise, his best mate, and some of the time he couldn't help but wonder who the Head Girl was.
Though he prayed to whatever God, or Merlin, there was that the Head Girl was not Hermione Granger. Just thinking about Granger, as he sometimes called her, made him angry. How could Granger, a Mudblood of all people out best me- Draco Malfoy a Pureblood?
This year I will not let her beat me at anything. This year I, Draco Malfoy, will be the best of the class, and I will finally show the Mudblood her place in life!
Two days later, August 30th, Draco was sitting on his bed ordering the House Elves around, telling them what to pack for his last year at Hogwarts. Of course he packed the mandatory items including his school robes and books, but he also included a number of personal items which he would place around his room this year.
Later that night, having finished ordering the House Elves around his room and having eaten dinner with his Mother and Father, Draco was laying upon his bed thinking about the next day. The next day Draco would board the Hogwarts Express say hello to all of his fellow Slytherins, then he would go to the Head Compartment; where he would meet Professor McGonagall and the Head Girl; and where he would receive the full details of his Head duties.
The end of summer had also come quickly for Hermione and her three best friends. All of their time had been spent together talking, laughing, playing games, trying some of Fred and George's new products, and of course playing Quidditch for everyone except Hermione who was terrified of heights.
There were also some very extensive games of Wizards Chess and Exploding Snaps. Harry and Ron, with continuous nagging from Hermione, got their summer homework done to perfection. Hermione had also spent some of her time reading and re-reading her books for school, to which Ron, Harry, and even Ginny protested very, very strongly.
Finally the day had come for all the students to return to school. August 31st dawned bright and early as Mrs. Weasley came up the stairs of the Burrow shouting that if they didn't hurry and get up they would miss the train.
As usual there was a large amount of commotion as everyone looked for all their last minute items. The owls were shut in their cages and their trunks put into the car. At last they arrived at the train station. Heading directly to the barrier between platforms 9 and 10 the large group entered the gate from which they would catch the Hogwarts Express for the last time in September.
When Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny found an empty compartment; and Hermione bid her goodbyes explaining that she had to meet Professor McGonagall and the Head Boy in the Head's Compartment. Harry, Ron, and Ginny told her they would save her a seat at the Opening Ceremony, and said their farewells and good lucks to Hermione.
Upon entering the Head's Compartment she saw that no one was there yet, so she pulled out a book and began reading. However, when she heard the door open and close she looked up to find the Head Boy standing across the room.
