A/N: I just wanted to take the time to save you ALL from losing money. NEVER bet with someone who has the ability to control the outcome and who gets to control who wins the money. Because there was this one freshmen on my bus that said that I would end up marrying this one guy Steve or go out with him, and he bet me ten bucks that it would happen in ten years......easiest ten bucks I will EVER make. Lately my life felt as if it were a dream. There were days I thought I'd wake up and discover that the recent events in my life hadn't actually happened.
Surely I must be a princess in an enchanted sleep. Any day now, this dream-no, nightmare-would end, and I'd get my prince and happy ending.
But no such luck.
I had no prince, unless you count my on and off again boyfriend Alec. But I don't like the fact that the prince always saves the princess. Besides there is no such thing as prince charming. If you look deep inside there is just a little boy who is still afraid of the dark. And as for Princess, I was far from it. Especially these days.
I pressed my lips into a tight line and my foot started to tap impatiently. Jason Shay and Kyle Clark were sitting behind me in divination class watching the room carefully. Jason and Kyle were the people my Aunt and Uncle decided to hire to protect us.
Please.
Just because one vampire attacked us over the summer does not mean they have to hire bodyguards. I mean sure the vampire killed my parents-
I winced slightly and continued to write notes that my Divination teacher wrote on the board. Well that was a lie he only killed my dad. But my mom.....well...that's not important.
Claire- my sister who was sitting next to me- patted my arm and smiled faintly.
“Let’s take a look into your futures now, shall we?” Professor Trelawney said making me snap out of my thoughts and settle into the task at hand; which was, sadly enough, tea leaves. It was such a stupid lesson. When was I ever going to use it?
“You are going to find love,” She said looking at the cup with a slight smile on her face but it went away when she saw something in the cup. I bit my lip trying not to laugh.
She put the cup on the table with so much force it broke and she backed away with such a scared look as she started to blink rapidly while shaking her head back and forth. I leaned forward slightly and glanced at Claire who looked scared out of her mind.
“Professor?” I asked and glanced at the cup and saw nothing but random shapes.
“You have the Grimm,” She said sadly and kept walking backwards until she hit her desk almost making her crystal ball drop. I bit my lip again.
“The Grimm?” Claire asked me. I shrugged.
“The Grimm usually takes the shape of a dog. It means death,” Someone said from the back of the classroom. Claire tensed up slightly and looked behind us at Jason and Kyle. I rolled my eyes then the bell rang.
When we were finally in the Ravenclaw tower Claire looked at me with the same expression of uncertainty on her face.
“What do you think it means?” She asked while pulling out her Defence homework. I laughed at her and shook my head.
“It means nothing. It’s not even real. I mean seeing into the future is mental,” I said sitting next to her on the couch. Jason and Kyle were right behind us and sat down on the chairs next to us and watched the room carefully.
Annoying gits.
“Well muggles think magic doesn't exist but it does,” She said as a matter-of-factly and scribbled something on a peace of parchment. I rolled my eyes, exasperated.
“But psychics? Tell me one legit physic that told the future and it actually happened,” I questioned. She didn't say anything but continued to work. “See? There's nothing to worry about we are in no danger.”
Jason laughed at that and looked at me with his eyebrows raised. “Really? Because your aunt and uncle don't seem to think so.”
I sighed. Why did my aunt and uncle give me the stubborn one? I mean really? That was not their smartest move.
“That's because they’re crazy. Hogwarts is one of the safest places in the magical community. No vampire in their right mind would attack us here. One, because it’s magically protected-,”
“There are spells to break them. Sorry to burst your bubble sweetheart,” Jason said, cutting me off, getting angrier by the second.
“Well
darling you didn't and if you would let me finish you would have gotten that,” I snapped back getting very annoyed with him.
Claire looked at the two of us shocked and Kyle, who was sitting on the other side of me, ignored our argument. “And two, there are thousands of teachers and students so they wouldn't have gotten very far,” I said finishing my argument. I was proud of myself, I hadn't hit anyone yet and everyone who knows me knows that's weird.
“Well,
dear what if the vampires found you and killed you too?” I opened my mouth to say I could handle it but he put up a hand. “Don't interrupt me. Va-,” I didn't listen. I wasn't known for listening.
“Why? You interrupted me!” He stood up and I did the same. We both got into each others faces glaring each other down.
“VAMPIRES CAN'T COME OUT IN THE LIGHT SO THEY WOULD BE COMING AT NIGHT. NOW JOSLYN, TELL ME HOW EASY IS IT TO GET PAST THE FEW TEACHERS WHO PATROL THE HALLWAYS?” He shouted; he was right in my face. I glared at him.
“Not that hard.” I mumbled rolling my eyes.
“What was that? I didn't hear you.”
“IT’S NOT THAT HARD,” I yelled. He smirked and got so close that I could smell his breath. It smelled minty fresh.
“And what if you or your sister,” I glared at him even more. Everyone knew that Claire was my weak spot. If she was in trouble, I wouldn't care what I was doing or how dangerous it would be I would save her. I would. Always. “Was in the hallway and you and Claire were face to face with a vampire, and there were more than one of them. You would wish your aunt and uncle got some guards to watch you, wouldn't you?” I didn't say anything. He was right but I would die before I admitted it. He smiled and leaned back. “Exactly.”
“But that doesn't mean you have to follow us in the day time!” I shrieked at him and stormed up the stairs. I slammed the door and screamed in frustration. I had to get away. I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't take him and his stupid comments or him following me. I was getting away that night. And there's nothing he could do to stop me.
I walked into the bathroom and stepped into the shower and let the water run down my back before I did anything. Then I started to think of how I would get away.

I lay there in my warm bed and opened my eyes and looked at the clock on my nightstand and smiled faintly.
It was time.
I pulled the covers off of my body and put on my T-shirt, skinny jeans and my black sweatshirt over my body and opened the door quietly and saw Kyle sleeping on his shift due to the cookies filled with a sleeping potion I offered him. I smirked at the glory of my success and slipped out of the dormitory undetected. That was the easy part. The hard part was getting out of Hogwarts undetected. But as Jason clearly pointed out, it wasn't impossible.
I walked down the dark hallways as quietly as possible. I didn't dare take my wand out since the paintings are mean and would probably rat me out.
“Ack. Put that Light out,” I heard a painting say down the hallway. My eyes went big and I ducked into another hallway running slightly and went down another one and hid behind the suit of armour and closed my eyes trying not to make any noise.
“Did you see anyone Mrs. Norris?” Filch cooed as a light came down the hallway followed by the ugly care taker Mr. Filch. The cat didn't say anything but sat at his feet looking at the suit of armour trying to decide if someone was there or not. “Come on,” Filch hissed and walked away with Mrs. Norris at his heels looking back occasionally.
I waited a few more minutes and walked out from the suite of armour, thanked it for being quite, since everyone says they come to life at random times and walked back from where I came and slipped out of the front door.
It was a warm September night, and with the moon giving me light I walked down the steps to the black lake.
I heard some leaves and a stick break in the Forbidden Forrest. I froze my eyes darting to the noise while my heart beat faster. Then I saw a black shape in the woods and squinted my eyes to see better.
“Now what do you think you are doing out here?” I jumped and turned around quickly to see my boyfriend Alec standing there with his arms folded and an amused expression on his face.
“Geez give me a heart attack why don't cha?” I said with a hand on my chest and I turned slightly and looked back to where I saw the black shape. There was nothing there.
“What are you looking at?” He asked me. I shook my head and turned to him and smiled.
“Nothing,” I said and kissed him on the lips and automatically it felt like there was no one and nothing here. I smiled slightly and looked at him as he kissed me again- harder and more fiercely then the previous.

It was getting hot. We were past the point of making out. He smiled slightly against my lips and began to kiss my neck his hands were slowly going for my shirt. I froze as my brain began to work again.
I didn't want this!
It was just too soon. I put my hands on his chest and pushed him off of me.
“What's the matter baby?” he asked breathlessly.
“I don't want to have sex. It’s just too soon.” I answered truthfully. He looked at me confused.
“We've been going out for a year! I think we've waited long enough.” He said and leaned forward to kiss me. I moved my head and he sighed impatiently.
“I'm just not ready.”
“Come on I know you want to,” He said seductively.
“I said no, Alec,” I said forcefully and got up off of the deck on the black lake and put my sweatshirt back on that he took off and zipped it back up.
“Oh so you will have sex with practicality everyone in the school but not me? You really are a whore,” He yelled and stood up too. I looked at him shocked. Sure we had our fights but he has never called me a whore.
“What’s the matter with you? I have never had sex in my life Alec,”
“What’s the matter with me? What’s the matter with you?” He yelled and shoved me making me stumble backwards a little. What the hell is going on with him?
“Don't push me,” I yelled and pushed him back. I didn't care who heard it or what animal would come because of it. He was being an ass I hoped a centaur would come and scare him. I glanced at the forbidden Forest feeling something watching me but ignored it.
“You’re a little bitch you know that? A filthy whore.”
“What’s going on here?” I deep voice asked. I froze. I knew that voice very well. Jason.
I felt my face go hot.
“Fuck off,” Alec said and turned to me anger clearly in his eyes. “Look here comes you protector, Jos. Are you fucking him too?” I felt my mouth drop.
How dare he say that!
Jason didn't even blink as he stalked over and punched him right in the face.
Alec's body turned slightly and he held his jaw
“Come on Joslyn. Now” He spat angrily.
“What the hell was that?” I demanded. “You can’t go punching people because we got into a little fight!”
Okay honestly it was a big fight. But he needs to learn and understand that I can handle myself in situations like that. He ignored me and grabbed my arm, roughly, and dragged me up the steps towards Hogwarts. I struggled trying to get out of his hold but he was too strong.
“Why did you leave the tower? Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?!” He asked ignoring me. “You could have been killed. And not just by vampires by any one of the animals in the Forbidden Forrest! You know what? You’re not allowed to go to Hogsmeade." My jaw dropped and I stopped dead in my tracks. He looked at me with an expression that was almost impossible to read.
"What? Why? That's so unfair!"
"Well life’s a bitch. I'm just here to represent." he said and turned around to go back.
What an evil, life destroying prat.
A/N: This may be weird to say but this is the easiest chapter i have ever writen. haha.

“I'm suppose to be protecting you it's my job,” He yelled.
“No your job is to protect us from vampires not guys who get ruff on the Quidditch field. And Besides it's not like we asked you and Kyle to step into our lives so why don't you do us all a favor and go since were not in real danger,” I yelled back. Jason stood up and so did I.
