It's Getting Late:

"You left me!" she screamed, the fire in her brilliant green eyes aflame once more, "You left me! You finally got me to crack, got me to date you, and you let me fall in love! Then you went and cheated on me twice!!!"

James looked ashamed, his face marred with pain at the truth of the cruel words she threw at him. The rest of the great hall was silent, finally hearing the story that broke up the famous couple.

"I loved you," she said, her voice quieter, now filled with pain and bitter regret. James flinched at the past tense, " don't you flinch! You caused me so much more pain than that! I loved you, and I guess I was stupid enough to think you loved me too. And just when we were at our happiest, you cheated on me. And do you know what the worst part is?" she asked, breathing heavily at the pain that came back with the memories, " the worst part is not hearing the rumors that were circulating around the school, not even hearing the slut that you cheated with gloat. No, the worst part is that I caught you the second time. You see, I could have easily ignored the rumors, the gloating, but the picture of you cheating on me will forever be burned into my memory."

Lily closed her eyes and ran a hand through her hair before continuing, "So no, Potter, I will not fucking 'wait up'. Not now not ever. You lost that privilege."

On that note, Lily turned and marched down the middle of the hall towards the teacher's table.

"I'm sorry professor Dumbledore, but I can't do this anymore. I'm resigning from my position of head girl. And from the school. The pain is too much," the last part she whispered as she unpinned her badge and quietly placed it on the table in front of the headmaster, who nodded in understanding, his eyes crinkled in concern and sadness.

The red head nodded once and strode out of the hall, ignoring her friends' calls. She ran to the head dorms and into her room, flicking her wand once. All of her belongings flew into the open trunk and she slammed it shut, forcing herself not to cry as she shrunk it and shoved it into her pocket.

With one last look at the now empty room, she left, leaving Hogwarts, her home, forever.

Please don't stop the music,
Please don't stop the music,
Please don't stop the music,
Please don't stop the music…

The redhead quickly slipped out of her healer’s coat, and smoothed the fabric of her dress under, as she quickly made her way to her favourite club. It was wizard, but had muggle customs mixed in. She glanced down at her small black dress that went up to mid thigh and had no sleeves as she shoved her coat into her small, black, beaded purse.

She paused at a bench and quickly traded her work sandals for her tall, black stilettos, before flipping her hair once and continuing on.

She smiled when she reached the entrance, and quickly pulled out her I.D., flashing a smile at Marcus, who grinned back before allowing her in.

“Enjoy, Lily,” He murmured before moving to the next person in line.

 It's getting late,
I'm making my way over to my favourite place,
I gotta get my body moving,
Shake the stress away…

Lily Evans danced to a few songs with a few guys before moving over to the bar and ordering a Fire Whiskey. The bar tender, a new guy, gave her a skeptical look after looking her up and down, assessing her small frame.

“Are you sure, Missy? That is awful strong…” He asked, not willing to clean up her vomit if she couldn’t handle it.

“I’m sure, and call me Lily; everybody else does…” Lily trailed off, easily downing her shot and motioning for him to get her another.

He looked impressed, and handed her the second glass, taking her first one and moving to help a young couple farther along.

Lily’s favourite song came on, and she quickly downed her second Fire Whiskey before standing up and asking a random, but hot, guy to dance.

He accepted, of course, and they moved around, talking aimlessly, about nothing, causing Lily to regret her decision. This man was hopelessly boring, and told the same story to her three times. She found herself forcing herself to laugh, and when she had danced with him three times, she gave up.

“Thanks for the dance,” She breathed, kissing him on the cheek before fleeing, but trying to look like she wasn’t.

She glanced around the crowded club as she sipped her cocktail, not really looking for anyone in particular.

Her aimless assessing stopped when her gaze met a pair of familiar hazel eyes.

I wasn't looking for nobody when you looked my way,
Possible candidate, yeah.
Who knew,
That you'd be up in here looking like you do?

James Harold Potter.

Her ex.

The reason she had to work twice as hard to get into St Mungos.

The reason she had nothing to prove a graduation from Hogwarts; she never did, never finished.

He looked away, glancing at a blonde seated next to him.

Lily noticed she had dull, murky greenish/ brown eyes, a sure sign that the girl was wearing contacts, and that her hair was half red, another sign that she was fake, that she dyed it, her blonde roots now half grown out.

She simpered, giggled loudly, and rubbed up against him, and Lily automatically knew that they weren’t in a relationship, they were just on a date.

She knew that James had a good life, as did she, he had been a professional Quidditch player for two years before ‘retiring’ and becoming an Auror. She also knew that he retired because someone had jinxed a bludger, knocked him off his broom and screwed up his back. He was fine, but unable to fly.

Lily knew all of this because she had to heal him. She never let him know that she did, but rather did it because her boss insisted, and told her friend Mary to be there when he opened his eyes. His friends all knew, of course, they had barely left his side throughout the whole process, but she had pleaded with them not to inform him of this bit of information. She just couldn’t take the thought of him knowing that she had healed him, mostly when he was shirtless, because it was his back.

Even now, Lily Evans still loved him, and she hated him and herself for it.

But she had narrowed it down to an extent where she could get around it, forget about it for hours at a time, go on proper dates, but nothing more.

James Harold Potter had truly screwed up her life. It had taken her a year and a half to be accepted into St Mungos, she couldn’t uphold a relationship, couldn’t even make it through a day without thinking of him. His fame didn’t make it any easier either, even now, nearly three times a week he was in the papers for his brilliance, or an interview, or good looks, or talent, or anything else possible.

And the hatred of them both increased inside.

Remus, someone she kept in touch with, called it passion. Only when she was in an exceptionally good mood. Otherwise she would lock herself in her room for days on end until he swore not to bring it up ever again.

He always did.

But it wasn’t just Potter who was famous, no, Lily Marie Evans was quite famous as well. For different things, and same things, but it didn’t go to her head. She got awards like brilliance, interviews, looks, surprising talents, but she also got awards for creating the Wolfsbane Potion, which she did for Remus, fixing the many flaws in the Polyjuice Potion and the Draught of Living Death, and a cure for Dragon Pox.

Lily Evans was smart, some would say brilliant, but was also young, extraordinarily beautiful, and fun. She had a lot going for her, as Remus would say, but the biggest gathering she ever went to was this club. Unless, of course, Remus would drag her to some Mungos party, as her date, friend, or even talk her into taking Sirius.

She felt the strange urge to go over to him, to dance with him, to get him away from that blonde. He was obviously, or not so obviously, uncomfortable, a look she had learned from when they were dating.

She noticed that aside from his uncomfortable-ness with his date, he looked good. Happy, healthy, hearty, amazing.

She downed her fourth drink, swallowed her pride, and got up, making her way over to him, speaking to him for the first time in four years.

She wondered what brought him here; he had only been here a few times before, and that was when she was with Remus, who always allowed her to drag him out to another club/bar. She wondered what the hell she was doing, and straightened her posture, walking with confidence. Lily shook her hair out, and ran her fingers through it, plastering her brightest, mega-watt smile, the one that Black and Lupin had utterly forbidden her to use for fear of her going too far with a guy.

You're making staying over here, impossible.
Baby, I must say your aura is incredible.
If you don't have to go, don't.

James looked up at the sight of another, really hot, female approaching him, eager to get away from his date, another fake Lily.

He threw on his charmingly seductive smirk, the one that usually got him laid pretty quickly, and moved his eyes from the girl’s- really nice- chest to her face.

He paled just ever so slightly upon seeing that it was Lily, his ex.

He refrained from fainting, as his colour came back, when he caught wind of her confident stride, extra small dress, and mind-blowing smile. It was one made up of innocent, angelic, sweetness, and hot, seductive, naughtiness.

James had never seen a girl pull off this unusual combination, and stared at her flawless face, his gaze pausing on her lush, plump, red lips that read ‘kiss me’.

He looked into her eyes, and saw a determined gleam in them, and allowed a brief grateful look to cross his face before his date simpered ‘seductively’ and moved so close she was practically in his lap.

Lily strode up directly to him and, ignoring the confused and glaring date, asked him confidently, “Would you like to dance with me, Mr…?” purposely ‘forgetting his name.

“Potter, miss, and of course. Layla, move,” He added to his date before shoving her off of his lap.

Lily snorted as ‘Layla’ fell onto the ground, shrieking slightly.

She grabbed his hand and tugged him onto the dance floor, placing his palms against her waist, slightly lower than that was formal. He looked a bit surprised by her boldness, especially considering that he was here with a date, as she threw her arms around her neck.

James looked Lily up and down, noticing that the years had done her extremely good. She had always been beautiful, but now, now she was fully matured and all of her curves had grown in, heavily accented by the dingy dress she wore and the high stilettos on her feet, making her legs and bum look even more amazing. The dress also showed off her wonderfully plentiful cleavage, and her hair was down, cascading down her back all the way to her waist in light, natural curls. He hadn’t ever seen her hair this long or down before, and it awed him. Lily wasn’t wearing any makeup what-so-ever, and she still looked a million times better than his date, who was caked in the stuff.

As they danced, Lily was doing the same, smiling slightly as she noticed that his tight shirt showed all of his muscles. Quidditch and Auror training had done him well.

“You looked uncomfortable,” She offered as an excuse as the first song ended and they continued dancing when the second came on.

James nodded slowly, and she smiled, shrugging as they continued to move around the dance floor, their steps quickly falling back into the old rhythm they both remembered.

“Excuse me, Mrs… but could I barrow Jamsie-Poo for a while?” James’s date simpered when they were about to begin their third song.

Lily looked amused at the nickname and in disgust at the female in front of them, but answered politely, “Lily Evans, nineteen time winner of England’s hottest female in a row, healer extraordinaire, part time model for Witch Weekly Lingerie and PlayWizard; you are?.” She said, sticking her hand out to the girl.

‘Layla’ answered, her voice full of haughtiness, “Layla Zueber, assistant to the secretary of the Head Auror, James Potter’s current girlfriend, and could I barrow him?”

Lily looked the girl up and down, before replying in the same sweet tone, “Congrats on your fabulous job, and by the looks of your body, complete with heavily padded bras, you will only be Mr Potter’s girlfriend for a maximum of two days. And um, no, I don’t think you can…”

Lily pursed her lips in a false apologetic half-smile, shrugging, and replaced her hand that had gone unshaken by James’s date around his neck. James’s date looked at him, obviously thinking he would back her up, or leave this girl, but he shrugged, smiling, and the blonde screamed shortly in frustration before stomping her foot and clenching her fists, obviously getting ready to punch Lily.

“And if you even get so much as an inch closer to me, I will have you tried and found guilty for assaulting the woman who is to be announced as Head of St Mungos next month, as well as beating the shit out of your fake little self.”

Lily smirked triumphantly as Layla stormed out of the club, shoving Marcus out of the way and treading on several people’s toes.

“Wow…”James muttered as they continued dancing, their moves slowly getting more intimate.

Do you know what you started?
I just came here to party
But now we're rocking on the dance floor, actin' naughty
Your hands around my waist
Just let the music play
We're hand in hand, chest to chest and now we're face to face.

Lily smirked at his awed tone and brought herself closer to him, closing her eyes as she pushed right up against his toned stomach and chest, deftly moving his hands down her waist, before placing hers back on his neck as her fingers played with the ends of his messy hair.

The song changed to a fast one, and she brought them closer together before leading them around the dance floor, waiting for James to get the hang of the new, quicker moves.’

I wanna take you away.
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.
I just can't refuse it,
Like the way you do this.

James slowly got the hang of it, and he slid his hands lower down Lily’s waist, them now at her bum, as he began to lead.

Lily laughed loudly as he spun them, spinning so fast that everything was a blur.

Keep on rockin' to it.
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the music.
I wanna take you away,
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.

Please don’t stop the music.
Lily thought to herself as she moved one of her hands down her ex’s back, winking at him when he felt her deliberately trail it down slowly.

DJ, Let it play.
James thought to himself as he pulled Lily closer to him, surprised she didn’t object. But then again, he was surprised she was actually dancing with him at all.

He really regretted cheating on her, but he had been young, hormonal, and stupid, and Lily hadn’t been ready to go to the next step just then. He wished she would give him another chance, but also knew it wouldn’t happen. She was probably just giving him a taste of what he had, punishing him for being stupid all those years ago, and proving that no one could ever, ever replace her, even with dyed hair and coloured contacts. And padded bras.

I just can't refuse it,
Like the way you do this,
Keep on rockin' to it,
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the,
Please don't stop the music.

Lily almost groaned in pleasure when James tightened his grip on her, pulling her closer to him, and she dug her fingers into his back, moving them down his spine, just the way that drove him crazy. She brought them closer to the small of his back, and slowed down her hand, the other one playing with his hair more obviously.

Baby are you ready cause it's getting close.
Don't you feel the passion ready to explode?
What goes on between us no-one has to know.
This is a private show.

James thought he could die with the full-blown passion he felt between them, and the feeling of Lily’s hands running down his spine and playing with his hair affectionately. He moved his right hand up her back, slowly, like she was, and tightened it around her hips, continuing to move to the astoundingly long song. He nearly moaned with joy when her hand reached the small of his back and stopped there, moving around slowly, as if exploring.

Do you know what you started?
I just came here to party.
But now we're rocking on the dance floor, actin' naughty.
Your hands around my waist,
Just let the music play,
We're hand in hand, chest to chest and now we're face to face.

James slid his hand back down Lily’s back and let it come to a rest at her waist, getting ready to try something new. He took a deep breath, feeling their heartbeats pump erratically together, their chests pushed up right up against each other’s.

He tightened his grip on Lily’s left leg, and quickly and expertly lifted it, without pausing in the dance, and placed it around his waist, making it look as if she were half straddling him.

He smirked when he saw her eyes flash in surprise, and silently prayed she wouldn’t murder him for pushing his luck.

But Lily wasn’t about to admit defeat. She tightened her grip around his waist, and expertly brought her whole body into the air, leaning against him as she raised her right leg directly up, making sure she didn’t flash anyone. Her smooth leg stood straight into the air, and she smirked when she brought it down gracefully, leaving her left still wrapped around his waist for a few more moments before tightening it once more and, with the skill of a trained ballerina, flicked her foot sharply into his inner thigh before bringing her leg down and continuing dancing.

I wanna take you away.
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.
I just can't refuse it,
Like the way you do this.

Keep on rockin' to it.
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the music.
I wanna take you away,
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.

James briefly closed his eyes as Lily quickly took lead while he spaced out, nearly passing out from blood shortage. His heart was either beating so fast it was like one beat, or had stopped. Either way, he knew that if he had died this very second, he would be happy even if he went to Hell.

After a few moments of Lily leading , he took the lead once more and they moved faster, working up to the finale.

Please don't stop the music, music, music.

Lily closed her eyes and leaned her head against James’s chest, knowing that the song was ending and wishing with all of her might that it wouldn’t. They began to slow down, and she opened her eyes, looking up at James for a moment before glancing away.

I wanna take you away.
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.
I just can't refuse it,
Like the way you do this.

Keep on rockin' to it.
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the music.
I wanna take you away,
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.

Please don’t let this end.
Both James and Lily silently begged.

I wanna take you away.
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.
I just can't refuse it,
Like the way you do this.

Keep on rockin' to it.
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the music.
I wanna take you away,
Let's escape into the music, DJ let it play.

James slowly and gracefully swept Lily into a low dip, supporting her back with his arms, as their heads came inches apart, both wondering the same thing.

Please don't stop the music,
Please don't stop the music,
Please don't stop the music…

Where does this leave us?

So, I finally realized just how hard it was to write a song-fic, and I have a new-found respect for everyone who wrote one and an even greater respect for everyone who's is really excellent.

Do hope you like it though, and a note, the HUGE hunk of ITALICS are like a flash back, but more of a prologe to set the mood and tone and all of that other stuff. The little one lined ITALICS are thoughts by either person, depending on what it said in the paragraph.

As always, READ AND REVIEW!

Peace.

:)

PS: I was thinking about writting a sequel, what do you guys think?

UPDATE 3/9/10: I wrote a sequel! Aren't you guys proud? I'll post it in a few days (you know, got lots of other promises of postings to fulfil). It's called A Standing Ovation song also by Rihanna, totally did not mean to do that. It just seemed like a good song to use. Oh well.

Have a nice day! REVIEW!!!!
