The summer went by much like the first few days. Many people, although they had felt the loss of Fred, were getting over their grief. Ginny, Harry and Teddy were inseparable and by the end of August looked like they had never been apart. The weather held it together for Ginny’s Birthday and they felt like they could finally live a normal life like any other family. Harry, Ginny and Hermione and Ron were all preparing for their final year at Hogwarts. They had planned their trip to Diagon Alley and Mrs Weasley finally decided that they were mature enough to go on their own. She offered to look after Teddy so they did not have an extra responsibility and also said she wanted to spend more time with him before they all left. Teddy was well and truly a part of the Weasley family.
Mrs Weasley woke them all up at seven o’clock on the 30th August so that they could get an early start. Mrs Weasley was happy for all her children, but it pleased her most of all to see Harry and Ginny together as she had known all the torment that they had both gone through. She made them all breakfast and the fantastic four apparated their way to Diagon Alley. In the midst of the summer Ginny had finally got her licence and so now was free to apparate anywhere.
Once they all arrived they decided to go for a butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks. They thought it would be a nice way of catching up, as although they had lived in the same house for the whole of summer the four of them never found a place where they could talk without being overheard.
They then decided to go to Madam Malkin’s to buy new dress robes for their final ball and for everyday wear. They subsequently went to Flourish and Blotts for all their books for their final year. It turned out that they all had different classes together and they knew that this would make their year at Hogwarts so much more exciting.
Their final visiting place in Diagon Alley was to Weasley Wizard Wheezes which had recently been reopened by George and two of his fellow classmates, Lee Jordan and Angelina Johnson. George was very happy to see them and equipped them with many things for them to use for a last year of pranks at Hogwarts.
They returned to the Burrow by seven o’clock and were very grateful for the mouth-watering smells coming from the kitchen. Harry and Ginny went to get Teddy from upstairs, where he had been sleeping, and then went and cuddled in a big armchair in the study. They could never really get enough of each other and were knocked out of their own little world by Mrs Weasley calling them for dinner. They were ravenous and so were quick to jump up and go to the table.
Most of the family were there for dinner, including George, who had brought along Angelina. The family were happy to be all together and the usual chaos of a Weasley family dinner went on that night.
After dinner all of the family decided to have a game of Exploding Snap. It resulted in a lot of shouting and a lot more chaos but everyone was very happy to see all of the family having fun after their tough summer.
After a while people were going to bed and by the time it was two in the morning it was just Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Harry left. Ginny was sat on Harry’s lap and Hermione was in-between Ron’s legs. Both couples were very affectionate so their game carried on half heartedly due to all parties being distracted by their boyfriend or girlfriend.
They finally gave up and went to bed at two thirty. Hermione and Ron were happy about this but Ginny and Harry decided to stay downstairs and talk. Ginny sat sideways on Harry’s lap so she could see his face.
‘I love you Gin, and I will never be sick of saying it. I have loved spending this summer together even if we have had so many obstacles to get to it.’
‘Harry, I love you so much and the introduction of Teddy into our family has just made me realise how good a father you are and will be to our future children.’
‘Gin, let me speak, I have loved you since the time in the common room when I kissed you. It has taken us way too long to get to this point where we have spent more than a couple days together and I never want us to be separated again. I love you. Will you marry me?’
There was a stunned silence from Ginny and a rustling from Harry as he tried to get the ring out of his pocket. She then realised she hadn’t answered Harry’s question.
‘Yes, yes, yes. I love you.’
She pulled his chin toward her and placed a light kiss on his lips. Harry got the ring out of his pocket which created another stunned silence from Ginny. It was white gold and had a diamond in it surrounded by red rubies. Harry slipped it on to Ginny’s finger and it fit perfectly. They decided to go to bed because it was very late now and they would tell everyone in the morning.
As they were lying in bed neither of them could stop grinning and both their minds were racing in a way that they knew they were not going to get any sleep. Harry pulled Ginny closer in bed and brushed his lips to hers. This soft loving kiss turned into a passionate kiss and soon they had to pull away for air. They finally decided to go to sleep in anticipation for announcing it in the morning.
