Two large brown tawny owl appeared at James Potter's bedroom window, he new as soon as he saw it that it was from Hogwarts, he took the two envelopes off the two owls and they flew off immedietly. He layed the one named 'Sirius Black' aside, as he was still sleeping. He started to open his letter when he realised that it was heavier than usual, he looked at it curiously then carried on opening it, he took the first bit of parchment out, it read:
Dear Mr Potter,
Please note that the new year will begin on september the first. The Hogwarts Express will leave from King's Cross Station, platform nine and three-quarters, at eleven o'clock. Additionally you have also been chosen to be Head Boy, please come at ten thirtie to start your duties.
A list of books for next year is enclosed.

James looked at the letter in disbelief, just to check he really was head boy, he searched the envelope and sure enough there was a badge with 'Head Boy' inscribed on it then, with a laugh he started shaking Sirius awake, he moaned and said in an irritated voice,'what? Prongs, why are you laughing?'
'Because Padfoot i have made headboy!'he said laughing more as Sirius sat bolt upright looking at james in disbelief.
'No way!'he had joined in laughing now.
'Yes way!'he said now laughing hysterically,'I'm going to tell mum and dad!'
James grabbed the letter as proof then practically jumped down the stairs, looking for his parents,'Mum? Dad?'he called. He heard a tired 'yes' then sprinted into the room. His dad getting the wrong impression said,'If you and Sirius have made the owls throw up slugs again you will have to clean it up yourselves and take them to Eeylops Owl Emporium.'
'No dad, it's not that, it's erm . . . i've became Head Boy!' he couldn't hold it in any longer, he burst out laughing.
'Oh James this is brilliant!'Mrs Potter ran forward to embrace James.
'Son, this is great.'Mr Potter came and gave him a manly hug, James was sure he could here Sirius laughing upstairs.
'We'll go to Diagon Alley today, get you and Sirius' school stuff!'she said looking happier then he'd ever seen her.
'Let's eat breakfast!'his dad declared,'Get Sirius down, James. He's probably hungry from laughing so much.'his father winked at him.
'Ok',He sprinted upstairs where Sirius was still laughing and said to him cracking up at the sight of him,'Come on, Pads, were going to eat breakfast without you!' Sirius leaped up, ran past James. James ran right after him, trying to catch up with him. They both arrived in the kitchen, out of breath when Mrs Potter asked James and Sirius,'Who's the Head Girl then Boys?'
Lily woke at an impatient peck at the window, she looked up to see a large brown and white owl there carrying her Hogwarts letters. It was larger than usual, she took it off the owl and gave it a quick pat, she watched it fly away then turned her attention to her letter. her first letter read:
Dear Miss Evans,

She smiled, she hoped she would get it, she took the badge out of the bottom of the envelope and put it on her bedside cabinet. She ran down the stairs and bumped into her sister Petunia.
'Watch where you're going, you freak!'She said angrily and stormed up the stairs. Lily was too happy to care and carried on down the stairs.
'Mum? Dad? I made Head Girl!'She said bursting into the room with excitement.
'Really? That's brilliant Lily! we'll go to diagon alley today shall we?'
'Yeah i'll go get ready now!'she practically skipped up the stairs, in her mind she was repeating four words over and over again' I made head Girl, I made Head Girl!'
She got ready and wrote on a spare piece of parchment:
Mary,
Guess what? I made head Girl !i'm so happy!
i'll meet you on the Hogwarts Express

Lily quickly tied it to her owls leg, watched it go then raced down the stairs to go to Diagon Alley. On the way to the Leaky Cauldron she asked her mum,'who do you think the Head Boy is? . . . '
After visiting Gringotts bank, buying new robes at Madam Malkin's, Getting their books at Flourish and Blotts and a visit to Quality Quidditch Supplies, Sirius and James were shopped out. When they were back at the Potter's, Sirius started teasing James about him drooling when he saw Lily. He got a smack for that, mentioning Lily to James was a touchy spot. Remus sent James a letter one evening when him and Sirius were eating some Honydukes chocolate.
Prongs,
a little birdy told me ( well a dog more like ) that you have become head boy, i have found out who is head girl it is none other than Lily,hoping this has made you happy i will see you on the Hogwarts Express.
Remus.
'Lily's head girl!' he shouted happily.
'Ohhhhh, she's not going to like that!!'Sirius said laughing, James went to punch Sirius, but Sirius tackled him.
'Prongs! you can't just throw punch's at me whenever Lily's mentioned!'Sirius said faking being upset.
'Ok, Sorry padfoot.'James said.
'Well we'd better pack, were going to Hogwarts tomorrow, I bet you can't wait for your Head Boy duties!'James gave Sirius a look which read quite clearly: 'do you want to be punched?', Sirius put his hands up as if surrendering,'Sorry Prongs.'
Lily woke up and quickly realised that she was going to Hogwarts today. She never liked going in her muggle clothes so she got changed straight away into her robes, remembering to pin her head Girl badge on to it. She looked proudly in the mirror and checked her watch it was 9:30. She hurried down stairs for some breakfast before she had to leave. Through breakfast she was thinking about who the Head Boy was, when Mary wrote back that she probably thought it was Remus, Lily seemed to think so but after she had wrote to him and found out he wasn't she wasn't quite who it was.
Kings Cross Station was quite silent it was only 10:30, the only noise was of two rowdy boys laughing, they would swear at the top of their voices then laugh as it would echo. The sound only left when they disappeared between platform nine and three-quarters.
'I wonder if Lily will cry.'Said Sirius joking.
'Oh God Padfoot she wouldn't cry, she'd kill me.'He smiled but it never met his eyes. The truth was he was scared, really scared how she would react, she did get quite scary when she was angry, he would never forget when she had a go at him that time when he hexed Snivellus in the corridor ( even though they aren't friends ) she had a go at him for what seemed like hours, he finally told her it was Snape, she seemed to soften at this though. They looked around and saw Lily stacking her luggage away, James said to Sirius nervously,'wish me luck.'then he walked towards her with his trunk.
'Hey Evans!'he said, his hands going to his hair immedietly, she turned to see him smiling at her.
'What are you doing here Potter?'she asked looking at him in disgust, then her eyes lingered over the badge on his robes and she gasped.' You are not the Head Boy!'
'Yes i am, Lily!'he laughed at the look on her face, her eyes looked like lazers as she narrowed her eyes.
'But there must be some sort of mistake! who would put you as Head Boy?'she asked. she looked at him again in disgust.
'Nope, no mistake, you'll just have to get used to me!'he said cheerfully then walked back to where Sirius was.
'So Evans, eh? she doesn't look too happy does she?'
'I no!'James was too happy, too be offended.
Hogwarts journey went as any other trip, James and Sirius finally met up with Peter and Remus and they played a few games of exploding snap and ate a lot of liquorice wands which made them sick, though James before had a meeting with the Prefects. lily treated him like she usually did in disgust, though not infront of the Prefects. The sorting went as usual and warned them of the dangers of the war and then a fabulous meals made by the house elves. They arrived in their dormitories after some mischief under Jame's invisibility cloak, their beds warm and comfortable, then too tired to talk they went to bed.
