“Into each life some rain must fall.
Some days must be dark and dreary.”
Henry Wordsworth Longfellow – ‘The Rainy day.’
The moon rose in the night sky, Gerard sat in Rosemarie’s room waiting for her to return. After the doctor had explained chemotherapy, he realised the amount of help she would need after the chemo, she would very weak and fragile almost as though if he touched her too hard she would break in two.
He had been thinking a lot about Rosemarie living with him. He could quite easily picture her at his mansion. The muggle hospital isn’t a nice place to be in, all the walls are an off white colour the shade of ghosts. A clock ticked on the wall showing the time 5’0 clock he could hear big bens loud bells ringing, he had paid the rest of the money for chemotherapy.
A bed sat in the middle of the room for Rosemarie to come back to her wig sat in his hands, he patted it, he couldn’t believe he had been so blind, to not even realise she was sick, and the most hurtful thing was that no matter how much he wanted to he couldn’t fix her.

They got out of the taxi, Gerard had went into a empty street and apparated to his mansion with Romeo, and the rest of her possessions.
Rosemarie sat on a bus stop bench watching the world pass by. Many people walked past all leading different lives. She didn’t like the fact that Dumbledore and Gerard had met her parents, she could only imagine how they had reacted to them. Rosemarie’s relationship with her parents wasn’t a good one, it was like a piece of string with them at one end and her at the other.
“Rose, your bloody dog bit me!” Gerard exclaimed sitting down beside her, he placed his large hand into her small one, her warmth feeding into his cold palm.
“Gerry, chemotherapy gets rid of all your hair.” She sighed and pulled off her white blonde wig, licked a finger and wiped off the eyebrow pencil.
He pulled her into him and kissed her with as much love as he could muster, “You are beautiful Rosemarie.” He smiled feeling the small blonde shoots of hair on her head.
“Really?” She smiled and her grey eyes twinkled.
“Really, really and anyway Rose since when have you carved what people think of you?” He asked draping one arm over her shoulder.
“I only care what you think, Gerard after all you are my boyfriend.” She snuggled into his chest an he kissed the top of her head.
Rosemarie lent on Gerard for support both physically and emotionally as he opened the doors into the oncology ward at the London General hospital.

Gerard looked up from his thoughts as his galaway girl came into the room. Rosemarie was paler than Gerry at that moment, the nurse wheeled her into the room and Gerard picked her up with ease into his arms and laid her on the bed.
The nurse plugged a machine into Rosemarie measuring her heart rate. A small hand reached out and Gerard let Rosemarie pull him onto the bed. He let her lay her head on his chest as she closed her eyes. The nurse left the young couple alone.
Life is peaceful.
Rosemarie slept soudlessly for an hour, before she vomited on the sheets, Gerard pressed the buzzer for the nurse and she handed him a bucket.
He soothed her as she laid back into his arms.
“Thank you darling.” Rosemarie whispered.
The following day Gerard wheeled Rosemarie out onto the street, his jacket wrapped around her. Her blonde wig rustled as the breeze blew. He took her into a dark ally and appareated them to his mansion.
“Oh Gerry, just wow...” Rosemarie vomited at her feet, with a wave of his wand the mess was all cleaned up.
“Thank you.” They both said in unison.
Gerard’s mansion was huge on the outside, it had a long cobblestone pathway, the fireman carried Rosemarie inside, she was far too weak to walk, and she was having trouble keeping her eyes open. A big white mass licked her feet.
“Where art thou Romeo?” She barely choked out the words, as he barked, his kind eyes looking over his master.
Unfortunately Rosemarie couldn’t take in the grand splendour of his mansion. She still had that black dress on, her blonde wig perched on top of her head.
“Darling, what would you like me too cook you for dinner?” She smiled prying herself out of his arms and walked slowly into the big open kitchen.
“Robin!” He stood in front of her his arms wide open and his forehead creased with worry.
“Yes, darling.” She winked hunting around for some pots and pans.
He grabbed both of her hands and pulled her into him. Gerard’s deep blue eyes searched hers and she tried not to cry.
“I am not dead yet, Gerard! This is why I kept it a secret, I don’t want you treating me different.” Her words cut him like a knife, he tried not to let it show just how much losing her would cost him.
“Rosemarie, you are sick, I can’t just ignore that. I also happen to be a good cook.” He growled at her, taking her waist and pulling her up the stairs.
Gerard’s room wasn’t what she had expected. Every piece of furniture had carvings on it, his bed was huge a king size she guessed. The walls were a light blue colour, she smiled at this, a big wall mirror hung on the right and a window on the left a bunch of wildflowers sat in a vase.
“Nice room.” She winked and held tightly to his arm for support.
“Now I’ll show you, yours.” They walked down the hall a little bit.
No pictures hung on the wall, Rosemarie noticed, scratching her wig. Gerard pulled her up at a door, his sea blue eyes, she could nearly dive into, danced at her.
“This is your room.” He winked at her and gripped her waist with his right hand and turned the door knob with his left.
“Gilbert gollywobble, are you serious Gerry?” Her jaw dropped, on the walls was yellow paint and on them hung her paintings which were framed. Those paintings weren’t the ones he had bought today, no these ones Remus Lupin pulled a prank on and turned to ash in front of her eyes.
“How?” She walked over to them fingering the carved wooden frame.
“Well one night I couldn’t sleep so I kind of (his cheeks turned pink) made myself invisible climbed up Ravenclaw tower and into your dorm. I then seen your sketchbook and I made a copy of all of your pictures.” He grinned sheepishly embarrassed he had no idea what she would say to that. A small strand of black hair hung loosely over his eye.
She stood on her tippy toes, and placed her left hand on his cheek, her hand created a warmth over his body.
“Have I told you how much I love you Gerard Hallow?” She laughed and wiggled her nose against his.
“Okay Rose, now you should get some rest." He left alone, for a moment then the door creaked open.
“You in bed?”
“Yes just.” She pulled the covers over her chest an her grey eyes looked at him curiously, as she noticed the pillow and blanket in his arms.
“I am warm enough thank you, Gerry.” She whispered.
“These aren’t for you darling.” He placed them on the black arm chair which sat next to an empty fireplace.
“Okay pillow and blanket in place, but something is missing?” He scratched his chin then smirked as he sat himself in the chair.
“Gerard Hallow! What are you doing?” She sat upright and let her hair fall to her waist.
Gerard closed his eyes and whispered, “shhhhh I am sleeping.”
Rosemarie pulled down the covers she was wearing the blue night gown that she had found in the wardrobe, not surprisingly it matched Gerard’s eyes at present perfectly. She pried the blanket out of his arms and tried to pull him off the chair but he wouldn’t budge. It was then that she really noticed how muscular he was. The black shirt he was wearing was tight in all the right places, and his trousers hung loosely around his waist.
“The bed is much comfier, darling.” She smirked as his eyes opened and a surprised look came over his features.
He wrapped one arm around her waist and helped her into bed. She rested her head on his chest. It didn’t tale Rosemarie long to drift off to sleep. The half moon shone in through the window, gently Gerard placed Rosemarie’s head on the pillow. She looked like an angel, he half expected wings to sprout out and her fly away to the heavens.
The wooden floorboards creaked under his feet, to which Gerard cursed under his breath.
Rosemarie rolled onto her side stretching out her arm, to make sure she wasn’t dreaming that Gerard was here, it was then that she heard him. The room was dark, as she climbed out of bed holding tightly onto the walking cane that Gerard had placed against the bedside table. Slowly she walked through the room, her left arm outstretched in front of her until her hand grasped the silver door knob. Opening the door she stepped out onto the cool concrete balcony, a long black telescope sat in the middle, it was then that she saw him.
“Gerry?”
The half moon gleamed over his face, his black hair covering his forehead. His blue eyes were so dark it was hard for even her to spot any blue in them. Tears streamed down his face, his body still.
“I can’t lose you.” He sobbed into his hands.
Rosemarie sat down beside him.
“You will never lose me, not really Gerard, I will always watch over you and be forever in your heart.” She let a tear escape her grey eyes it was like a drop of rain on a window, there was always more to come.
