Eve's heart skipped a beat and she froze. It took her 33 seconds to make her legs move and turn herself around.
"Hi," Remus said.
"Hi....Hi? How... how the
hell did you get in here?"
Had Eve gotten the requirements wrong?
Needs to love me more than I love them.
Um, I don't think so.
"I told it I needed to see you." Remus said, quietly shutting the door.
"But- but I.... Hi."
Remus stepped forward.
"Listen, Eve."
She looked down at her shoes. Remus put his hand on her shoulder.
"Eve, did you mean it? Did you mean what you, er, said?"
Eve turned away from him to hide the two silent tears on her cheeks. She nodded once.
"Hey," Remus said.
Eve did not respond.
"Hey..." Remus lifted her chin up with his hand. "Don't cry. Come on, Eve. Look, I don't really know... what to think now. How I feel...."
I kind of do.... Eve thought.
"But, listen. I do know that you are very sweet okay? I never had anyone scream that they love me in the hallway. But I did save your life earlier, so I think you owe me a thank you."
He lifted her by the waist into a hug.
"Thank you" She whispered.
"All right?" He set her down. "Nice room. What exactly did you tell it to keep out? You seemed surprised that I could come in."
"Oh.... I didn't think that
you would be looking for me." That was true. "Thought you were a might embarrased and such. How did you know I was in here?"
Remus froze then shook himself.
"I, uh.... I thought this was a pretty good hiding place for an invisible person. I was right, though, so."
Oh yeah. I can sort of smell you cause I'm a werewolf. Yeah. Okay.Awkward conversations avoided.
Remus reached for the door knob.
"What the hell?"
"Shut it, Mia." Lily snapped.
"Well I suppose we should find Eve, since Remus is invisible."
"And how do you suppose we
do that, Potter?"
"I know!" Sirius shouted. " Me and Wormy'll check the ladies' bathrooms! You all, check everywhere else!" Sirius tried to dash down the hall to the nearest girls' room, but Mia grabbed
the back of his robes.
"Room of Requirement?" She suggested.
"Since when do you all know about the Room?"
"Well, Black. You took Katlyn Kirlington there and snogged her for a few hours once. And when she caught you snogging Marissa Mellish in there, she told every girl in Gryffindor even though you had told her it was a secret."
"Oh." Sirius said sheepishly.
So the search party of five made their way up the left hall to the Room Of Requirement.
They all stopped in front of the blank wall.
"Well," Lily stepped forward, "We need-"
Suddenly, a round red door appeared in front of their eyes and opened.
"Excellent work, Evans!" Exclaimed James.
Remus towed Eve out the door by her hand.
She suddenly saw everyone looking expectantly at them.
"Oh!" She tried to run back inside, but Remus was just a
bit (ahem, a freakin LOT!) stronger than her.
"Well that worked out nicely!" laughed Sirius. Remus shot him a dirty look and Eve's face went from her usual paste white to cherry red. "I meant the whole Find-the-invisible-one-and-the-small-one Thing!" Sirius chuckled.
"Oh, right. Invisible. Here, James." Eve tossed the invisibility cloak to James.
She glanced at Lily and Mia and gave them an 'I seriously need to talk to you!' Look.
They seemed to understand.
33 people passed them in the hallway. All of them stared.
It
was an odd sight. The 3 girls who publicly stated their hatred of the Marauders on a daily basis were walking down the hall with them. Not only that, but one of the three girls had a Marauder's arm over her shoulders.
Strange sight, indeed.
Eve's blush did not fade all through dinner.
"Can we go?" She begged Lily and MIa. "People are staring at us."
"No," Mia corrected around a bite of food. "People are looking at
you. We aren't fraternizing with the enemy."
"Enemy... kay, well I'm done. Bye." She shoved her untouvhed plate forward and slid out from Remus' arm. She took off out of the great hall.
Lily and Mia scooted down the table away from the boys, no longer having a need to sit near them.
"So, Moony," Began Sirius. "You got shorty wrapped all around your finger! Ha, she's mental!"
"Oh, stuff it. She is
not mental. Maybe a little off, but not mental."
"She can't swim. My cous' tried to drown her. And can we forget? 'It's Lupin, all right? I am in love with fucking Remus!" Sirius laughed in a high-pitched voice.
Several people looked over and Remus kicked him in the shin.
"Shut it! She's pretty nice. I kinda sorta maybe think I like her a lot more than I had originally planned.
Sirius waggled his eyebrows. "Awww.... Moony has a crush on the mad girl who just confessed her for loves him!"
Remus aimed another kick at him, missed, and kicked James in his.... soft parts.
James spluttered his mouthful of potatoes all of Sirius' face.
"Nice." Remus laughed
Sirius wiped the potatoes off of his face and looked over, "Huh? Wonder where the girls are going. James, I am going to bloody drown you in these potatoes.
In the girls' dorm, Eve sat on her bed and tapped her toes impaciently on the floor.
Suddenly Mia and Lily walked in.
"Ohhh... Eve! You and Remus!" Mia squealed.
"Wait. I thought you guys hated the Marauders and all who have anything to do with them? Fraternizing with the enemy and such?"
"Yeah well, we can make an exception only for you and only cause you love him and only cause it's Lupin, who is not a complete prat." Lily grinned.
"Whatever. Okay, so I snuck out with the invisibility cloak and all and went to the Room Of Requirement, right? Well, okay, see, I told the Room to only let in someone who loves me more than I love them and-"
"Wait, why?"
"That seems like an odd requirement."
"I... I really don't know why. But anyways, I-"
"I wonder if we could've gotten in..."
"Shut
up, Lils. You. Are. Not. Listening. Did you think I
let Remus in?"
"Oh. My.
God!" Mia screamed. She began to jump up and down. "Eve! He loves you! He loves you more than you love him, even!"
"But, I-"
"But what? You love eachother!" Lily joined Mia in her jumping.
"But I don't think he
knows he loves me!"
"Ohh..." Mia stopped jumping. "That could be a problem."
"How is that a problem?" Lily wanted to know. "He may not know it yet, but he
does love you. He'll just realize it soon on his own."
"Or..." Mia wore an evil grin "We could
make him realize it!"
"Oh Dear God." Lily moaned.
"Yes, yes. We will make him realize his true feelings. But. We are going to need someone's help. Ugh, even thinking it makes me feel dirty all over!"
Mia ran into the bathroom to take a shower.
It took 33 minutes.
