Monday morning; I can barely endure

Your face in my head. Your sweet allure.

Tuesday night seems like an eternity away

Without your presence, my world fades to gray.

Your in for a treat, come tomorrow night

Till we meet, fair princess, you are my true light
.

Romantic poem to show Hermione you mean business, check. Merlin, Draco. You are so on top of your game today! I re-read my poem, sitting at my desk in my office at HQ. I rolled up the parchment, wrote To: Hermione Granger on the outside of it, tied it with a ribbon then called for my owl. Now, I know that the ministry is underground and what not, but somehow, the windows all lead outdoors. Magic was wonderful.

"Hello, Cally." I said tenderly, stroking my eagle owl, Calypso. She hooted in response and nibbled my ear affectionately.

"I need you to take this to the front desk at St. Mungo’s, okay girl?" she hooted again as I tied the poem to her leg. I patted her again, and she took off out the window. Mental note, ask Potter how the windows functioned.

"Malfoy? You in there?" called a muffled voice from outside my door.

"Yeah, come in." I called back, only to be greeted by Weasley. "On second thought, forget what I just said, Im not here."

"Oh stop being such a prat. You don’t really think I want to be talking to you either?" he asked, coming in and making himself bloody well at home, sitting down in the chair opposite me.

"Did I say you could sit down?" I asked menacingly, leaning forward in my chair.

"What?" he said, taken aback.

"Who gave you permission to sit in one of my chairs.?" I asked again, smirking.

"I don’t need your fu-"

"Ah, ah, ah, Weasel. I wont tolerate foul language thrown at me in my own office."

"Ill throw whatever I want at you." he snarled, slowly turning a very unflattering shade of red.

"I suppose, but you will not do it sitting in my chair that you so rudely sat in without permission.. Now. Stand up and ask for my permission."

"You cant be serious." he sighed.

"I am nothing but serious when it comes to matters such as who’s posterior will be allowed to plant itself in my chairs." I said with a straight face, as I watched him stand and glare at me.

"Oh, Great Malfoy, can I sit down?" he said sarcastically.

"I don’t know, can you?" I smirked, watching him exhale in a puff.

"May I?" he corrected.

"No. Now get the hell out of my office." I smirked.

"Malfoy, if I have to go get Harry-" he began loudly.

"Oh go on then, run along and fetch Boy Wonder. We’ll have a party!" I exclaimed, planting my feet up on my desk.

"Do I have to remind you that Boy Wonder writes your cheques? And Im sure you don’t want to go ask your mother for money, like a toddler." he smirked.

"Fine." I sighed "Sit down, but make it quick"

"I need you to help me with the newies again." sighed Weasley as well "They listen to you much better then they do me, I think its cause you scare them"

"Well." I said overly dramatic, "One of the famed Golden Trio needs the Slytherin Princes’ help."

"Don’t push it, Malfoy. It wasn’t my idea." he growled.

"Oh no? Then who’s was it?"

"Hermione’s. She called me the day you had your, er, accident. Said she had seen you at St. Mungo’s and wanted to know how the class was doing. I told her they listened better when you were there and she suggested taking you on full time." he said "So will you do it? We’ll get so much more done with two teachers."

"Her- I mean, Granger called you to talk about me?" I said anxiously.

"Yes.." he said slowly, not comprehending my anxiety.

"Is that all she said? About me training the newies?" I asked, hoping to Merlin she didn’t mention anything about our encounter.

"Yes.. Why else would she call?" he asked suspiciously.

"No reason, no reason." I said, relief flooding my features.

"So will you help me?" he asked again.

"Fine, but I cant tomorrow. Im taking the day off." I said, I needed that day off to try and figure out what I was going to do for our date.

"That’s alright, they aren’t in tomorrow anyway." he said standing up and heading to the door. I fought a raging battle in my head. Should I ask him what happened between him and Hermione? So that I didn’t do the same? Well, it was now or never."

"Wait, Weasley. If you don’t mind my asking, what happened between you and Granger?" I said casually, trying to hide my eagerness. He looked stunned for a second, but then he shrugged.

"I just, didn’t pay enough attention to her. I didn’t realise what I had, till I lost it." he sighed, "Wednesday Malfoy, and try not to be late." he turned and shut the door behind him.

Well, if Hermione and I ended up together, she would have nothing to worry about. I would certainly pay attention to her. Merlin, she would be my everything. Anything she wanted, she would get. Id give her everything she needed. Id be there when she went to sleep at night, and woke up in the morning. And I most definitely would not forget her birthday and write some crappy card. Happy Birthday Love? I mean, come on Weasley!

"Ginny? Ginny!" I called out to an apparently empty Potter residents.

"Shut up, Malfoy! You’re voice irritates me." scowled Weaslette as she came into the kitchen.

"But, Ginny!" I whined "Its Tuesday!"

"I know what day it is, Malfoy. Im not four, unlike you." she said, sitting down at the dining table.

"Why must you Potters insist that Im a toddler?" I groaned, plopping down in the seat across from her.

"Because you are a toddler." she replied simply.

"Your mother’s a toddler." I muttered quietly.

"I really don’t think that would work." she glared at me.

"Alright, can we just stop acting like-"

"Toddlers?" shot in Ginny, smirking.

"Okay, Im leaving." I growled, standing up.

"Wait," said Ginny, reaching out her hand and taking hold of my arm, "Im sorry, I am fully ready to discuss mature matters as a mature adult, maturely."

"Good, because I really need to discuss this, maturely." I said, taking my seat again. "Where’s Potter?"

"Out with Teddy somewhere. They’re ‘bonding’ and I wasn’t allowed to accompany. As its males only." she rolled her eyes while saying this.

"When’s he due back?" I asked.

"Few hours. Plenty of time to get everything ready."

"Good." I said, leaning back in my chair a bit.

"So, what did you have in mind?" asked Ginny, waving her wand and summoning a pot of tea, two cups, sugar and milk.

"Nothing." I said truthfully.

"Nothing?" asked Ginny, gaping.

"Why else would I be here? To squeal over the details together like were at some frilly sleep over?" I said sarcastically, preparing my tea.

"Well, I thought you would have at least had something in mind." she said, making her tea as well.

"Well I don’t. But I know you have something for me."

"Of course. I was just being nice, and letting you have your say. But as your current say is, quote, ‘nothing’ then we’ll follow one of my ideas."

"Fire away." I said, taking a sip of my tea, while leaning into the table.

"I was thinking about the carnival." she said slowly, letting the idea sink in.

"What carnival?" I asked, leaning forward eagerly.

"Finch Brothers’ Amusements. It’s held over in Regents Park." she said brightly.

"And you think Hermione would want to go to this, carnival?" I asked skeptically.

"I think she would love it. She loves being out in the night, and the excitement of the rides. And she would be ecstatic if you won her a stuffed animal or something."

"How do you know all this about her, Ginny?" I asked, amazed.

"We’re girls, Malfoy, we talk. Actually, I’m surprised that she hasn’t told me about you yet." pondered Ginny, sounding slightly hurt.

"Well, what does it matter? You already know." I snorted at her.

"That’s not the point, she’s supposed to confide in me about going out on a date with her school enemy. I mean, it must be eating her up inside."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"It’s just, your Malfoy. And she’s Hermione. Its devious and dark and wrong. And I know she knows that. She’s just scared to tell me, incase I freak out or something. That’s why tonight you have to either a) ask her to be your girlfriend, to make it official. Or b) tell her that I was helping you, so she won’t feel bad talking to me." Ginny finished her speech and regarded me anxiously.

"I think I’ll try both. Cause if we’re going to be together, I need to be truthful, which means ill have to do b) if I do a)."

"Alright, so second date equals important moment in wizarding history. A Malfoy getting rejected or a Malfoy with a Muggleborn, either way, they are both very important. So get going, and don’t screw this up." threatened Ginny, as she rose from the table.

I walked to the fireplace, yelled a thanks out to Ginny, then stepped in, threw the powder down and yelled my address.

Well, that went fast.

"Ginny!" yelled Teddy, launching himself onto me.

"Hey Teddy Bear, your home early." I said loudly, so that Harry would hear me.

"He started complaining about his feet hurting, but wouldn’t let me carry him because he said he would feel ‘childish’." snorted Harry from the kitchen. I laughed at Teddy, then began tickling his stomach. He giggled and jumped off of me.

"I’m hungry Ginny." whined Teddy, giving me sad puppy dog eyes.

"What, Harry didn’t feed you?" I asked, standing up and taking his hand, leading him to the kitchen.

"Nope." said Teddy simply, jumping up onto a chair at the kitchen table.

"I did too you liar!" stated Harry, mocking outrage. "We just had a hotdog not 20 minutes ago."

"Oh yeah," said Teddy "I forgot." he shrugged.

I laughed at the two of them, then searched threw the cupboards. "Kraft Dinner ok sweetie?" I asked Teddy, taking the box down from the shelf.

"Yes, please." answered two voices. I turned to see Harry sitting down at the table as well.

"I thought you had a hotdog?" I asked him, hands on my hips.

"Yeah, 20 minutes ago I said." he rolled his eyes at me.

"I don’t see where you put it all." I sighed, levitating a pot under the tap to fill with water.

"Hey, Gin? Who was over?" asked Harry.

Oh shit.

"Uh, Tiffany. From the team." i lied convincingly.

"Oh yeah? The one Malfoy used to go out with right?" he asked, standing up to clear off the table.

"Yup." I said simply, my palm feeling sweaty gripping my wand. I brought the pot to the stove then flicked my wand and turned the stove on.

"You know, he’s been acting weird lately." continued Harry, waving his wand and sending 3 bowls and spoons flying to the table.

"Malfoy?" I swallowed, adding the noodles to the boiling water.

"Yeah. He’s been, nicer? Calmer, maybe? More social really. I saw him stop to say hello and wish Neville a good day today. Neville! I mean, I was shocked, but I think Neville looked like he as going to pass out." laughed Harry, taking out the noodles and waving for me to sit down.

Well Hermione, you’re making the world a better place, one date at a time."Wow." was all I could think to say.

"I know," continued Harry, adding the cheese and stirring it in, "And you know what? I heard he agreed to work with Ron and the new recruits. Ron. I don’t know what happened to him, but I hope he stays like it." finished Harry, pouring us each a bowl and summoning some juice and cups.

Oh Harry. If only you know what was making him happier, I’m sure you wouldn’t be saying that.

"Oh good, Malfoy, you’re here." sighed an exasperated Hermione as I stepped threw her threshold.

"Draco." I corrected her.

"I need to know where we’re going, to know what to wear." she said, ignoring my earlier comment.

"Put on something nice, but casual. I can’t tell you where we’re going. It’s a surprise." I winked. She blushed, then hurried up the stairs. 10 minutes later, she came back down, dressed in a pale pink summer dress. The pink complimented her chocolate curls, which hung loosely around her pixie face. She was beautiful, and I told her so.

"You look beautiful, exquisite, enchanting, ravishing-" she cut me off and giggled.

"Show off." she said, rolling her eyes. I turned and opened the door for her.

"After you." I said, waving me hand. She smiled and strode out the door. She waited for me at the bottom of the steps. Then cast the locking charms on her house. I nodded to the left and we began down the street. We walked until I spotted the alley the cat had jumped out of.

"We’re not going cat hunting, are we?" she asked sarcastically, following me a short ways in.

"No." I laughed, "Just a safe spot to apparate is all." I took her hand and asked if she was ready. She nodded and I spun on the spot. After an intense moment of spiralling, we landed in another alley. I could hear the carnival music and see the blinking lights. I held onto Hermione’s hand and led us toward the sound of the music. I gently entwined our fingers and rubbed my thumb along the back of her hand reassuringly. She looked up and smiled at me, as if to say she didn’t mind in the least. We rounded a corner and caught out first glimpse of the carnival.

"Oh, Malfoy! I love carnivals!" she squealed excitedly. I winced again, as she continued to use my last name, but smiled none the less. I led us threw the gates to the ticket booth and bought some for us.

"So, what first?" I asked, looking around at all the different things to choose from.

"Oh, I’m not sure" she said, smiling around. "Ferris Wheel for last though."

"That’s what I was thinking. How bout, I win you a prize first?" I asked, looking toward a game where you shot water out of a gun at a target, easy enough.

"How bout you show me how to play, then you can beat me, and give me your prize." she offered happily.

"Alright." I grinned, leading her toward the game I was looking at.

Hermione walked up to an empty gun and waited to pass the worker her tickets. The bloke turned around and looked Hermione up and down, then smirked. He was shorter then I was, probably the same age, kind of bulky. I could take him, even muggle duelling.

He sauntered over, took Hermione’s tickets, then told her even if she lost, he’s give her a prize. I watched her blush, tell him that wasn’t necessary then look over her shoulder at me. At first, I was just going to tell Hermione what to do, but that guy really pissed me off.

"Here, I’ll show you Mione." I said loudly enough for the guy to hear. I came up behind Hermione and placed my hands on her, guiding them to the gun. Heat rushed through me but I managed to keep myself under control. "Watch his face, I’ll play the game." I whispered in her ear as the buzzer rang for the contestants to start squirting. After about a minute, our light went off.

"Did you see his face?" whispered Hermione, as she watched the fuming bloke walk over grudgingly.

"Shh, he’s coming." I whispered back, not letting go of Hermione. "Pick the one you want honny." I said, kissing her on the cheek recklessly.

I smirked at the bloke as she stammered for the big green teddy bear, apparently baffled by my show of affection, or so I hoped. I let go of her so she could take the bear from the guy. I kept my hands on her waist as she said a thank you, and the guy grunted in response.

"You handled that really well, Malfoy. Ron would have hauled back and punched him in the face.

"Slytherins prefer subtle movements, as opposed to rash behaviour, such as Gryffindors." I smirked, taking the bear from her hands and shrinking it to fit my pocket.

"Well I prefer the Slytherin way then." she said, placing her hand back in mine and entwining our fingers once again.

I smiled widely as she took my hand, as I experienced the familiar tingling sensation I had now come to associate with Hermione’s touch.

"Did you get my poem" I asked, a few moments later, as we walked around, examining the many attractions.

"Yes, I did and it was beautiful. I didn’t know you wrote?" she asked, looking up at me.

"Well I haven’t seen you in four years, have I?" I said, looking down at her smirking. "Only poems, and not very often. Usually when I’m anxious and need to write something down."

"There’s a lot more to you then money and gorgeous looks isn’t there? " joked Hermione.

"Well yes, but my looks and money make up a lot of it." I said, turning her in the direction of the house of mirrors.

"Almost 11, do you have to work tomorrow?" I asked politely, wanting her to say no so we could stay a little while longer.

"Yes, but we haven’t rode the Ferris Wheel yet." she said, dragging me over to wait in line.

Our second date had gone extremely well. We never once let go hands, we talked endlessly but the silences that did happen were comfortable ones. Like now. We waited in silence as the wheel turned around and around. Finally stopping 10 minutes later. I gave the woman our tickets and she let us into a seat. No strap ins. The walls were high enough that we shouldn’t fall out. We began to move and Hermione gripped my hand tightly.

"I’m right here." I whispered to her, squeezing her hand reassuringly. She looked over to me and smiled. I could tell she was afraid of the height, but really wanted to see the view, and it was amazing. When we reached the top, I could see London far below us, twinkling in the full me. I let the wheel spin around a few more times, then when we were right at the top, slipped my wand out of my pocket and muttered a spell to make the Wheel stop. It began to slow, then came to halt. I heard groans underneath us and wanted to tell them to shut up and be patient.

"Well, lucky we’re right at the top right?" laughed Hermione, looking out over London.

"Lucky indeed." I said, smiling over at her, until I noticed her shivering. "You’re shivering."

"I’m alright." she said, really, that Gryffindor pride was going to be a pain.

"Come here." I said, scooting over to her. "Lift your legs for a sec." she did as she was told and I placed one arm under her legs, the other behind her back. I picked her up easily and placed her gently on my lap, hugging her close.

"Better?" I asked, rubbing my hands up and down her arms.

"Much." she sighed, resting her head on my shoulder. We sat like that for a few minutes before I gently pushed her hair behind her ear and softly places my lips to her ear. I felt her stiffen, but she didn’t protest, so I took that as a sign to continue. I kissed her ear again, then her cheek, down her jaw line, and finally down her neck before she spoke.

"Malfoy, I don’t know if I can do this, do us." she said, tilting her neck out of my reach. "Because I know that’s why you stopped the ride, to ask me to be with you."

"Caught on, did you?" I smiled, watching her grin.

"I’m not called the smartest witch of our age for nothing." she smirked, then became serious again. "But really think about it for a minute. What would Ron and Harry think? Or Ginny? Or your parents? Or friends? Or-"

"Don’t." I cut her off shortly.

"Don’t what?" she asked, confused.

"Don’t think Hermione. You think to much."

"But that’s what I do, Malfoy." she said.

"Well, just try not to for a second. If you weren’t thinking. If there was no one else in the whole damn world. What would you do right now?" I asked, looking deep into her chocolate brown eyes.

"I’d kiss you." she said finally after a few moments pause.

"Then do it." I whispered. I waited a moment, holding my breath. She seemed to be as well. She let out a huge breath, then leaned into me and captured me lips with hers. She tasted like the cotton candy we had both just shared. She unwrapped her arms from my waist and dragged them up to my head, one at my neck and one in my hair. I had one on the small of her back and one on her waist as she teased my lips with her tongue, circling them fully. It didn’t take me long to take the hint and open up my mouth, granting her ful access to roam the inside of my mouth. Our tongues were weaving an intricate dance as I brought my hand up to wrap it in her gorgeous curls. We both came up for air but I continued placing tiny pecks all over her body. Her nose, her ears, her forehead, it was only when I nipped softly at her neck and heard her moan in pleasure did I bring my lips back up to her mouth, ready for another full on assault, but an angry voice from below startled us both.

"Hurry up would you, it’s nearly midnight!" I looked over the edge to see various muggles all crowded around the Wheel.

"I suppose I should start it up again." I sighed, bringing out my wand.

"I suppose you should, it is getting late." she said, resting her head on my shoulder as I flicked my wand and a cheer erupted below as the Wheel started up again.

"So I hope this means you realise I want you to be my girlfriend?" I said, feeling her laugh through my chest.

"I wouldn’t have let you kiss me like that if we weren’t together, Draco." she giggled.

"Aha! You just called me Draco." I smiled widely at her, eyes bright.

"I think that, under the circumstances, it’s necessary to be on a first name basis." she said smartly, then kissed me on the cheek and laid back down on my shoulder. I rested my head on hers, and waited for the Ferris Wheel to turn, and let us back down to the real world.
