‘Hermione?’ A familiar voice called. My arms tightened around my knees, pulling them closer to my chest, as I tried to stiffen my sobs.
‘Hermione, where are you?’ The voice called again. I took in a shaky breath and moved as far back into the corner as I could. Sooner or later they where going to find me, I couldn’t hide forever.
‘Hermione, please.’ The dreaming voice seemed to fill up the entire corridor that I was hidden in. I could feel the tears forming at the corners of my eyes, I quickly whipped them away and peered out of my shadowy corner.
Luna stood with her back to me. I had two choices, one, sneak the other way and be able to hid for a bit longer, or two, call out to Luna and just face my fears.
I sighed, ‘Luna…I-I’m over here.’
Luna turned around to me, ‘Hermione! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!’ She said, running over to me.
I faked a smile, and tightened my arms around me chest, ‘You’re probably the only one that was looking for me.’
Luna didn’t shift her eyes from me like most would as she said, ‘Yeah, I am.’
‘Yeah.’ I shifted my eyes down, the pit in my stomach feeling even deeper as she confirmed the truth.
‘You know, you can’t hide forever.’ She said simply.
‘I know,’ I replied, still not daring to meet her eyes, ‘I-I just wanted some time alone…to think, you know?’
Luna nodded. I sighed and sat down with my back against the wall.
‘Do you want to talk about it?’ Luna asked, taking a seat next to me, ‘Sometimes it helps to just…talk.’
I smiled, the tears one at a time lightly steaming down my face.
‘I wouldn’t know what to say. My head is spinning, my heart hurts, and—and if I started it would probably just be babbles and such.’
Luna smiled, ‘Hermione.’
‘Yeah?’ I looked up, rubbing my eyes with my sleeve.
‘You just started.’ Luna smiled.
I couldn’t help but smile back, ‘I-I guess I did.’
We sat in silents for a while. That was one thing I loved about Luna, she would never push you for information – she wasn’t like Lavender and Parvati who cared only for gossip, or even Ginny who loved only knowing everything – Luna cared about the person.
‘He cheated on me.’ I said barley above a whisper, but it was enough for Luna to hear.
She nodded patiently, waiting for me to continue.
‘Well, actually, I don’t know if he ever truly cheated. But a half hour after he broke up with me, I saw him with Lav-Lav. And, well…I just don’t know what to do.’ I sighed.
I looked up to Luna, curious about her reaction. Her head was tilted, and instead of the pity that I would see in most, I saw compassion in her silvery eyes.
I could feel my eyes starting to sting, ‘What was worse was the way he broke up with me. It wasn’t like he was trying to be gentle or anything, all he said was – I need more in a relationship, its over, I’m sorry. That was it. He just walked out of the common room.’
I sighed; glad to get it off my chest. And then silents fell upon us.
My eyes lingering around the corridor.
It had to be at least eleven at night, the stars where out and the moon was shinning bright. Shadows lurked in every corner, and torches flickered as the wind picked up a bit.
‘We should probably be heading back to our common rooms; if we get caught Filch will nail us with detention for a month.’ Luna said with a gentle smile, ‘That would be the last thing you would want added to your plate.’
‘Yeah, I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble after you came looking for me. Thanks Luna, it really helped—talking and all.’ I smiled back.
She stood and offered her hand, ‘What are friend for?’
A few minutes later we where at the moving staircase.
‘So what are you going to do if their in there when you walk in?’ Luna asked casually, a note of concern plaguing her eyes.
‘Hold my head high, and hold the tears in until I’m in my dorm.’ I replied, my voice choking a bit.
We started up the stair case, walking as slowly as we could.
‘Oh Won-Won!’ That caused both of us to freeze.
Luna and I shared a continued up the stairs. Slowly we peered around the corner and there was Ron and Lavender.
‘Wow, he looks so much like a vacuum cleaner!’ Luna whispered beside me, ‘He looks like he’s eating her face.’ She continued; her expression so innocent and her eyes so curious and disgusted.
I froze. I knew that they had gotten back together – I had seen them earlier – but seeing them this, intimate, confirmed every suspicion I had had.
He had cheated on me when we where together because I wouldn’t give him what Lavender could.
‘Hermione?’ Luna pulled me away from the opening, ‘Hermione?’
‘I-I need to leave.’ Tears poured down as I took off back down the stairs.
‘Hermione wait!’ I could hear Luna’s footsteps behind me, but I kept running.
The clock struck midnight. Twelve dongs sounded in the clock tower, as I ran through it. The noise was so loud, so echoing, but I kept going. I had to get away.
‘Hermione!’
All I kept thinking was I had to get away from here, I had to leave. I had to go some place, any place, anywhere but here.
I stopped when the hall came to an end at a door.
‘I don’t remember this.’ I whispered. The door looked so old, and the knob looked as if it hadn’t been touched in centuries. Slowly, I pulled the door open and stepped inside.
‘I just need a moment to collect my thoughts before I face Luna again.’ I kept repeating to myself. I closed my eyes and rested against the door, my breathing was the only thing I could hear for a long time before I opened my eyes to look around.
The room was bare except for a painting at the far end. I stood up, and walked towards the painting.
A beautiful castle, sitting on the seaside was painted with vivid colors on the canvas. Trees where painted on either side of the canvas, making it look like a real perspective, as if I could just take a few steps and be on my way to the beautiful stone castle.
I reached my hand out to feel the paint, to remind myself that it wasn’t real, but as I reached for it I grew lightheaded and shaky. My hand didn’t feel the canvas or even the paint as I continued to reach. My focus was on the painting, the colors flowing into the next, and as I stepped closer it seemed out of focus.
A strong scent of Alstroemerias and Roses met my nose, and I could feel a light breeze as if I where standing on the ocean.
And then everything went black.

‘Do ye think its dead?’ I felt a sharp poke on my side.
‘Ow!’ I sat up stiff straight, ‘What was that for?’
A gasp escaped around the room, and I froze.
A small dwarf dressed in dark blue leaned over to another dressed in a mix of earth tones, ‘Oy, I don’t think its dead.’
The second one looked up to me, a stick in his hand, ‘What are ye anyway? You look of man but we have never seen you around Narnia before.’
‘Narnia?’ I tried the name on my tongue, ‘What on earth are you talking about? This is Hogwarts.’
The two dwarfs broke out into hearty chuckles, ‘Aye, she may have hit her head harder then we thought if she be talking about pimples on a Boar.’
‘It’s not pig-pimples! It’s a school, a magical school!’ I retorted, ‘And hit my head? No I didn’t, I was just standing in the clock tower’s room and-and-and there was this-this painting!’ I said, feeling stupid as I began to use my hands to describe my story.
‘A painting ye say?’ The first dwarf smirked.
I huffed and crossed my arms; I could tell they weren’t going to believe me, no matter how hard I tried.
‘So you said I’m in Narnia?’ I sneered, the name alone sounded like some child’s game.
‘Aye, Narnia. Or more specifically, Cair Paravel, to be exact.’ As the dwarf spoke he pulled back the curtain. And there, just outside the window, was the castle from the painting. Only this time, I knew it was real.
‘What-what…what…’ I stuttered.
‘We should take you to the Queens and Kings, they would be able to get you back to this…Hogwarts…which you speak off.’
I swallowed; I was defiantly not in Hogwarts anymore.
