Hermione and Draco shared a look as they watched Blaise stare blankly out the window from where he was sitting on the bench across from them. He had been silent and downcast ever since he had came back from slugging Ginny, much to Hermione’s joy, and Pansy refused to even talk to the ‘bastard’ as she now referred to him. He had tried talking to her and that had not ended well.

At all.

Their friends had tried their best to at least patch things up with the friendship they had hope was still intact, but nothing they said or did could get Pansy to lower the bitter shields she had put up around her heart. She was sharing a compartment with Harry and Luna down the corridor, refusing to be anywhere near Blaise. Luckily, she didn’t fault their mutual friends caught in the middle for still talking to him.

Cecilia and Laurel napped peacefully in their small crib that took up the entire middle of the compartment, oblivious to the tension surrounding them. The portraits were snug in Hermione’s cloak pocket as were her trunks. Glory was sleeping as well, with her head tucked beneath her wing, in her large cage. Hermione and Draco had decided to leave England for good. Their homeland now held too many nosy reporters and poisonous witches and wizards for their taste. They were going to go live in a Black Manor in France, inherited by Cecilia though it was Draco’s birthright as well. There, they planned to marry quietly and raise Cecilia as their own. Hermione had been given a teaching post at Beauxbatons and Draco was going to start training as an Auror for the French Ministry of Magic. Blaise wasn’t sure what he wanted to do yet as his mind had been busy focusing on elsewhere but his father had left him more than enough money for him Laurel to live out their lives in luxury and he planned on living in their family’s vacation manor in France as well.

Harry and Luna were planning on moving into together in 12 Grimmauld Place and redecorating it and his parents’ house in Godric’s Hollow to their liking. Pansy had applied to a fashion school in Italy as a student (using the money she had grabbed from her parents’ vault at Grimgotts) and would be able to travel all over the globe, studying different fashions, both muggle and magic, and the effects different colours were able to have on the people wearing them and the people viewing them. She promised to visit monthly, though, to check in on her favourite goddaughter.

As for Ginny and Ron, Hermione couldn’t really say. The bond tying the two Weasleys and Harry together was thin, easily capable of snapping at the slightest thing. However, this did not effect the darkhaired boy’s relationship with the other Weasleys who were more than happy about him and Luna and knew nothing about Ginny and Ron’s evil deeds.

Hermione snuggled up to Draco as he put a comforting arm around her. “We’ll be okay, right?” she whispered in a small voice.

“Of course we will,” he said reassuringly. “We’ll be absolutely fine.”

Five Years Later

“DRACO MALFOY, I HATE YOU! YOU ARE NEVER, EVER COMING NEAR ME AGAIN! AHHHH!” Hermione screamed and Draco winced as his wife crushed his hand even harder in her death grip.

“Hermione honey,” he managed to get out between winces and gasps, “just think, in a few hours-,”

“Almost there,” the Healer said soothingly. “Just one more big push Mrs. Malfoy.” Draco fell to his knees in pain as Hermione, giving her all, pushed harder and crushed his hand with all the force she had left. A few seconds later, crying could be heard as the Healer quickly ran some tests and cleaned up the newest member of their family.

“Congratulations! You have a lovely little baby boy!” Hermione began to cry as the Healer put the blue bundle in her arms. Softly, her fingers caressed his cheek and she leant down to kiss the top of his head which was already covered in soft blonde fuzz. Draco swallowed, too overcome to speak, as bright silvery blue eyes gazed up at them in wonder.

“Dr-Draco, go get Ceci,” Hermione whispered, not taking her eyes of their son. Draco kissed her cheek and strode out of the room quickly, not wanting her to see how his legs were still trembling. He smiled as he caught sight of his little girl. Cousin, daughter, it didn’t matter. She was family to him and his heart always swelled with pride every time he heard her call him Daddy.

“Ceci, honey, would you like to meet your new baby brother?” The five year old jumped down from her seat where she had spent the past few hours fidgeting and playing pranks on her sleeping Uncle Blaise whose face now sported the maniacal lopsided grin of a clown.

She ran into his out stretched arms and hugged him tightly before lifting her head up to look at him. “A brother?” she asked, wrinkling her nose. “I was hoping for a sister.” She brightened a moment later and let go of her father, running over to where her Uncle Blaise was sprawled over five chairs.

“Uncle Blaise!” she yelled. “Wake up! I have a baby brother! I have a baby brother! I have a baby brother! Uncle Blaise!”

“Th... That’s great Ceci, just... great.” He yawned before letting his eyes close again. He had been babysitting her along with his sister until the past few hours when Draco had called and said that Hermione was almost ready to start pushing. He had dropped off his sleeping sister at a friend’s house and Flooed over with Cecilia. The little girl frowned but skipped back over to where her father was.

“Do I get to see him and Mummy at all?” she prompted, her dark ebony curls bouncing on her shoulders as she stopped in front of him.

“What- Of course you do! Come on.” He hoisted her up in his arms and walked back into the deliver room. He set her down and watched, amused, as she ran over to where her mum was sitting up in the bed.

“Mummy!” Ceci cried, throwing her arms around her neck, though careful of the small bundle she was holding in her arms. “Daddy said it was a boy. Are you sure?”

Hermione laughed. “Yes, sweetie, we’re sure.” Ceci gazed down at her new baby brother and held out her hand towards him. She gently gave her finger to his small fist that began waving it around, making her giggle.

“What do you think we should name him?” Draco asked her. He and Hermione had discussed many names and, not being able to decide any, had decided to let their daughter pick so that she felt included. If, however, the name proved to be horrible then they would make it a middle name instead.

“Mm...” she stared at him thoughtfully. “Gabriel,” she decided.

Her parents were surprised. “Why, Ceci, that’s a wonderful name! How ever did you think up that?” Truth be told, neither of them had thought of it but as they looked at their new son, realized it was a perfect name.

“Well, Gabrielle was my choice for a girl.” Draco choked back a laugh. His daughter never ceased to amaze him. “But,” she added, “he looks like a little angel. Which he better turn out to be too, although that might get him some trouble at school. But I’ll take care of that. No one will mess with my little brother!” The little girl swelled with pride. “And as for middle name... Cygnus. Gabriel Cygnus Granger Malfoy.”

“Cygnus? Where’d you here that?” Draco looked at her curiously.

“It’s the name of a constellation and since it’s the Black family tradition to name themselves after them, I thought it’d be a good middle name since my constellation names are my middle ones.” She looked up at him and smirked. “I am quite smart you know.”

“Yes, Ceci, we’re all well aware of that fact.” He rolled his eyes and Ceci stuck out her tongue at him.

“Well,” Hermione said, stifling a yawn, “it’s way past your bedtime young lady and seeing as how all the excitement is over, Daddy can take you home and tuck you in.”

“But Mummy,” she whined, “I wanna stay here with you and Gabby!”

“Your mum’s right,” agreed Draco, running a hand through his platinum blonde hair, “you need your sleep, as do I and as does your Mum and little Gabriel. We’ll be back first thing in the morning.”
