"Ten minutes late, 'Mione. Only ten minutes." He said as he followed her up the hotel path and through the wall.
"If you weren't so sweet I'd move out and leave you."
"And then come crawling back in five seconds."
"No," Hermione said quickly. Ron frowned just as she grinned and planted a small and quick kiss on his lips. "I'd crawl back in two. Now come on, I'm late enough as it is."
Hermione walked up to the hotel's desk with a smile. It took a minute for the woman behind the counter to realize someone was there, but once she did, a smile was on her face and she was ready to serve.
"Welcome to the Wandym Hotel, I'm assuming you have a reservation for a room?"
"That's right. I'm here for a Care for Magical Creatures Convention. My name's Hermione Granger."
"Alright, let's check on your room, shall we?"
The woman tapped her wand on a stack of papers and Hermione watched as the papers arranged and rearranged themselves. After a few seconds, the woman picked up the first piece of paper and furrowed her brow.
"What's wrong?" Ron asked her. The woman looked up from the paper and frowned.
"Well, it looks like as if your room has been given away, Miss Granger."
"What? How is that possible?"
"It says here that you were to check in fifteen minutes ago. I suppose seeing that you weren't here and it is a very busy weekend, your room was given away."
"...Only ten minutes, huh?" Hermione said aside to Ron who looked at her sympathetically.
"Is there anything you can do?" Ron said to the woman. "Hermione really needs to be here."
"Well, I suppose we could find another room for you. Though, I have to warn you, you may have to share it with someone seeing, as how I said before, it is a busy weekend."
"I'll take whatever you can give me."
The woman was indeed able to find a room for Hermione, so after saying goodbye to Ron, she followed the desk clerk up five floors and to room 502 and smiled. The room was fairly big and very well furnished. To her surprise there was even a balcony. The bathroom was all marble with a shower and tub as to give a choice in preference and the bedroom was large with a king sized bed. Only one king sized bed...
"Um, is it definite that I'll be sharing this room with someone?"
"Most assuredly I'm afraid..." The woman told her. "The manager doesn't like this, but you can always conjure another bed. It's not like he'll know and I definitely won't say anything."
The woman nodded and left the room. Hermione sighed and figured that she'd unpack and get herself settled before her weekend roommate arrived. With that said, she managed to get a lot done. Her clothes were unpacked, she ordered a bit of room service, and had taken a luxurious shower for what she summed up as a half an hour. As she was just finishing up her shower, she thought she heard something. Turning the taps off, Hermione shrugged of the noise and wrapped her towel around her. She opened the bathroom door and shrieked in surprise at Draco Malfoy standing the middle of the room.
"Well, well, well, I didn't know women came with the hotel rooms." Draco smirked as he put his luggage down. Hermione angrily wiped her wet hair from her face and made sure that her towel was securely in place.
"Someone has got to be playing a joke." She said aloud before directing her gaze towards Draco. "You are not staying in this room."
"Tell that to the desk clerk downstairs. I'd prefer a suite but they gave away my room to the first idiot that walked in."
"Well you're going to have to tell her to give you another room to share because I refuse to stay here with you!"
"If you're going to leave I'd suggest some clothes."
Hermione yelled in aggravation and stomped from the bathroom and into the single bedroom. She heard Draco laugh before she slammed the door closed. What on earth was he so jolly about? They were to spend the night- more than one night probably -and he was welcoming the situation. Hermione shuddered and dressed quickly. When she finally finished and opened the bedroom door, Draco was stretched out on the sofa with his hands behind his head. Just looking at him was driving her insane.
"How long are you supposed to be here for?" Hermione asked him.
"You sound like you're actually interested." He said lazily.
"I'm not." She responded sternly. "I just want to know how long I'm going to be pulling my hair out for."
"Just for tonight, princess."
"Fine, then let's get things straight. There'll be no wise cracks and no name-calling. I'll go my way, you go yours, and let's try to ignore each other as much as possible."
"No problem with me, but I wonder," Draco said as he sat up from his reclining position. "Do those rules go right out the window when we go to sleep tonight? You see, I could never control what I said in my sleep."
"So help you, Malfoy..." Hermione growled as she grew red in the face. He laughed as he had done earlier and sat up from the sofa to face her.
"Red is so becoming of you. I should irritate you more often."
“Don’t make me curse you.”
“You’re feistier than I remember you, Granger.” He grinned. “This should be very interesting.”
Hermione snarled viciously as he gathered the luggage he had set down earlier and walked up to her. He stood directly in front of her, and, if he didn’t know any better, saw her flinch. This made him cackle out in laughter right in her face and double over in even more laughter when she looked completely offended. Draco shook his head, muttering, “Very interesting, indeed…” as he walked into the bedroom and shut the door.
Hermione was positively fuming by now, and she took up her room key and exited in order to go down to the front desk to complain. It was a large hotel. It couldn’t possibly be that filled up. Though, no matter how logical her reasoning was, or how much she begged, there was nothing that could be done. Annoyed and angered to the fullest extent, Hermione went back up to the fifth floor and to the room she had to grudgingly share.
Upon opening the door, Hermione was quite sure that Draco had temporarily left the room. But how wrong she was when she finally shut the door and turned around.
“Merlin, Malfoy!” She said as she quickly covered her eyes, for he had just come from the bathroom with no towel.
“Normally if that phrase comes from a woman and addressed to me, it’s a compliment. Yet with you, I’m not so sure.”
Hermione couldn’t see him, but she was sure he was smirking or on the verge of extreme laughter, or both. She rolled her eyes and sighed angrily.
“Will you please wrap a towel around you so I can put my hands down?!”
“Damn, Granger, you act like you’ve never seen a man’s-”
“I’ve seen plenty, thank you very much.”
“Oh, really..?” Draco said with the biggest grin on his face. Hermione took her hands down and cursed herself for walking straight into that. She tossed her room key on a table top and looked up to see him still standing there. Yes, he had the towel on, but the fact that he was shirtless didn’t make Hermione any less agitated. She crossed her arms and stared directly in his eyes, though every two seconds or so, her eyes would drift down to his bare chest and she’d have to clear her throat to get herself focused.
“What, Granger?” He asked, his unfitting amused-filled personality slowly fading away.
“You could put on a shirt too if you’re going to stay out here like that.”
“I don’t know. I was thinking of keeping it off a little while longer since you like staring so much.”
Hermione’s eyes turned to slits. It wasn’t the mere fact that he was patronizing her and pushing any and every button he could find. No, what topped it off for her was that as she traversed the space the two of them currently occupied to reach the bedroom, her eyes drifted over to his naked upper half and made her blush with annoyance.
The rest of the evening was easy. Draco left the room as soon as he dressed. When he did it was about six, and he had not yet come back even though the time on Hermione’s watch read quarter to eleven.
“Stay out as long as you want.” Hermione said with a smile. She was secretly hoping that he’d stay out the whole entire night, probably gambling in the hotel’s small casino. It didn’t matter what he did really, so long as it wasn’t in their room. As it neared eleven-thirty and she was curled up on the sofa with the latest obsession in her book collection, she decided to get ready for bed. She went into the bedroom and rummaged through her clothes and picked out a silk nightgown to sleep in. It was as she was slipping the nightgown over her head that she remembered Draco. Hermione looked down at herself and frowned.
“Only Ron’s seen me in this.” She said aloud and fingered the nightgown. “Damn me for not bringing something less…appetizing.”
Once the nightgown was on properly, Hermione heard the door to the room open and close. She let out a sigh and jumped a bit at the sound of the bedroom door opening. Draco came in and his detestable smirk was all over his face as she crossed her arms, something of which she shouldn’t have done because she rested her arms just beneath her breast which made them raise higher and more visible than they already were.
“Waiting for me, were you?” He said wittily. Hermione snorted and tossed out a laugh as she dropped her arms to her side.
“You wish… Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to bed.”
“Well, I hope you’re not one of those women who like to take over the whole entire bed.”
“And what makes you think you’re sharing this bed with me?”
“I’d go out and sleep on the sofa but I get so lonely without a woman to lie next to.”
Hermione rolled her eyes at him and began rolling back the sheets of the bed.
“Is everything a sexually related joke to you?” She asked irritated.
“Not necessarily, but I see how it annoys you and it just sends a delightful shiver up my spine.”
“Oh, you are so childish!”
“And you’re just so pleasantly amusing, so why don’t we make it even?” Draco said as he began to undress in front of her for bed. Hermione’s eyes grew wide at his audacity and picked up her wand.
“What, you’re going to hex me now?”
“I’m going to bed. You can have the bloody room. I quit!”
Draco grinned as he watched Hermione storm out of the room and slam the door. He let out the gut-busting laugh he had been holding in and congratulated himself on finally making her crack. It was an interesting day indeed, and he chuckled until he fell asleep.
Hermione conjured her own bed in the small living room and went to sleep. She was so on edge it took her a while to actually fall asleep. When she woke up the next morning, she thought she might find him hovering over her, or sitting on the sofa which was directly across from the bed she had conjured. However when she was fully awake, neither of the two scenarios had happened. In fact, Draco wasn’t even there.
According to a small note he had left her, he had gotten a hotel room for himself since as one had opened up, and he was extending his stay. Hermione thanked Merlin that he was finally gone and that she finally start enjoying her weekend. She undressed, showered, and went into the bedroom in order to find something to wear to the Care of Magical Creatures Convention that was to begin in about two hours at noon. But oddly as she went through her drawers, she realized with horror that all of her clothes with the exception of the nightgown she had stripped herself of was gone.
“This…is…unbelievable.” Hermione said breathlessly as she pulled out each and every drawer to seeing that they were all empty. In the bottom of the last drawer there was a note inside. She lifted it up and her face scrunched up in anger and disbelief.
Consider this a parting gift, Granger. You looked so lovely in that nightgown of yours that I thought others would enjoy it as well. Have fun for the weekend. I’m sure I’ll see you in the halls since I’m two doors down.
“MALFOY..!” Hermione yelled. And she swore that she could hear him laughing even with him being two doors down.
