A/N: Takes place while James and Lily are dating
"Lily..." I called. She was sitting right in front of me in the Heads Dorms, but she was engrossed in the essay she was writing. "Lily..." I called again. She looked up.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"I wanted to say something," I stated. She stared at me.
"What?" She asked. Oh. She was waiting for me to go on. Hehe...whoops.
"Ummm...yeah...well...see...the thing is...are you listening?" I asked. She had gone back to her essay.
"Yeah, of course I am!" She replied indignantly.
"Oh...okay. Are you sure you can listen to me and write the essay at the same time?" I asked.
"Yes James! Can you get on with whatever you wanted to say please?" She asked exasperatedly.
"Uhh yeah! Okay...well, the thing is, my parents are coming to a meeting here with Dumbledore in a few days, and they said that while they're here, they want to meet you," I said. She didn't say anything. She just continued writing her essay. "Did you hear me?" I asked.
"Yeah, I did. That's great, James," She said, smiling brightly at me. I smiled back, a little confused, and watched as she looked back at her essay and scribbled something out. I really don't think she heard.
"So yeah, well, I just thought you'd want to know ahead of time...and I went to the healer yesteday and found out that I have an STD...sorry," I said, making up the last part to see if she was actually listening. It didn't even phase her. "Lily!" I whined.
"What?" She looked at me apologetically.
"You didn't even hear what I said!" I complained.
"Yes, I did!" She insisted. Pfft, yeah right.
"What did I say?" I asked, trying to catch her out.
She looked at me with a hurt look on her face. "James, I heard you, okay? Just because you don't trust me..." She trailed off and angrily picked up her books and parchment. "Whatever," She huffed. She grabbed her stuff and left. That was a failed attempt at a guilt trip.
Whatever...when my parent's get here and she's unprepared I can just say that I did warn her...
---------------------- A few days later -----------
"Lily!" I called, when I spotted her at the end of the hall, my parents trailing behind me. She was looking for something in her bag and looked frustrated.
She looked up and had a shocked look on her face. She quickly plastered on a smile and held out her hand. "Hi! Nice to meet you," she said cheerfully.
My mother smiled and hugged her, ignoring Lily's outstretched hand. After she had pulled away, my dad rolled his eyes at my mum and shook Lily's hand. We walked to the Great Hall and sat down and started to eat. We spent about an hour or so with my parents until they had to leave.
We walked them to Dumbledore's office and waved goodbye as they disappeared into the flames in the fireplace. The second that flames had disappeared, Lily's smile disappeared just as fast. She got a stony look on her face and walked out of the office. I sighed and followed, knowing I was in trouble. But seriously, it wasn't even my fault! I told her days ago!
She raged into the Heads' Dorms and turned to look at me again. She was livid. She yelled at me for a half hour straight. I didn't even raise my voice. I am quite proud of myself. I'm actually really surprised too. There was no physical James-abuse. Ahh...bliss. Actually, not really since she's still yelling at me. I just repeated over and over that I had told her a few days earlier and that it wasn't my fault that she wasn't listening. She said that I should stop being such a smug asshole and that I should know better than to tell her important information when she's working. Come on! I even asked her if she could pay attention to me and she said yes! Tsk tsk...silly Lily. Oh well...she just stormed off. I should probably follow her....
