“Do you have a better idea?” Draco snapped at him. Harry shook his head.
“The top of the list is Hermione Granger. You going to visit her?” Harry asked, watching carefully for Draco’s reaction. Draco snorted with laughter.
“Hermione Granger? As if! You know how much we hated each other at school. She punched me in the bloody face, for Merlin’s sake! No, I don’t think it’s Granger,” he said. Harry nodded, looking down, not wanting Draco to see his expression. Of course it was Hermione! But he didn’t know that.
Harry sighed then, and handed Draco the list. He pointed to the next possible girl on the list, Kelly Hoffman. Harry whipped out his wand, and made some papers appear, with Kelly’s address on them. Draco nodded, and Disapparated outside the house, walked forwards, and knocked on the door. A tall girl with long wavy brown hair opened the door.
“Kelly?” Draco asked. The girl nodded, looking at Draco curiously with light blue eyes. Light blue eyes. This was not his girl.
“Uh, hi, I’m Draco Malfoy, but I think I have the wrong person. I’m sorry,” he said hurriedly, before disapparating quickly back to the Manor, Harry sitting on his couch, arms crossed, looking at Draco expectantly.
“Not you girl, huh?” Harry asked. Draco shook his head. Harry shrugged.
“What a pity. Well, I’m sure you’ll find her, after all, that’s only one,” he said as he crossed Kelly’s name of the list. Draco nodded absent-mindedly. He looked at the list, and saw all the names, and he realised how long it would take him to find his girl, if he ever did.
Over the next week, Draco continued his hunt for the girl, but none of them were her. None of them were that perfect girl he said, he angel, the pure beauty he had met, and had shared that kiss with.
But he no longer had as much time to search for the girl, which meant it would take even longer. He didn’t like the fact it was going to take so long. He could wait forever for that girl, but who said she would? She could find someone else at any time.
Draco shook himself out of these thoughts as he walked into the office where he would be working. He sat down in his seat, and listened carefully as his boss explained everything to him. Just as the boss finished, the door opened, and the other person in the law department walked in. He looked up to smile at them, but then he saw who it was.
“Malfoy?” Hermione asked in disbelief. Draco glared at her.
“You better believe it, Granger,” Draco snarled, “You’re just going to have to put up with it.” Hermione scowled at him, and the boss raised his eyebrows.
“I expect you two to get along. I can very easily fire you both,” he snapped before walking off. Draco grunted, and then turned to look at Hermione.
“I will be civil if you will,” he said. Hermione nodded in agreement, and looked at her desk. What was Harry thinking?
“Draco Malfoy!? Are you completely mad, Harry? Or just mind-numbingly stupid?” Hermione yelled at Harry, walking towards him, who was looking at Hermione warily.
“We needed that position filled, and he was the only one who would take it,” Harry said defensively. Hermione looked at Harry through narrowed eyes, and then stood back, and sat on the couch.
“I suppose I can forgive you. But my goodness, Harry. Draco Malfoy, working in law? It doesn’t seem right,” Hermione said. Harry laughed slightly, agreeing. But it was the only for his plan to work.
He just hoped they’d look past the fact that they hated each other’s names, and look at the real people they were.
