A/N- THIS IS NOT A SIRIUS/OC FIC!
A/N2- This takes place during two times- the marauders fourth year and at the end of OOTP.

A/N3- I don’t own a thing, except the plot.
It was a freezing cold February fourteenth as Sirius Black leaned in to kiss his date at the Three Broomsticks.

Marissa Brown tipped her head back, ”What do you think you’re doing?”

“Umm… kissing you?” Sirius was confused. Most girls would’ve flipped to have Sirius Black kiss them on Valentines Day. But he forgot, Marissa didn’t like anything like kissing, or even holding hands.

“On the first date!? Is that normal?” Marissa stared at him with her mouth slightly open.

Sirius smiled playfully, ”Well yea. After all, it is Valentines Day.” And he leaned over again.

“No, Sirius,” Marissa said firmly, pushing her hand over his lips.

“Why not?” Well, actually, since it was muffled, it sounded more like-”Bly wot?”

Marissa took her hand away, ”I’m just uncomfortable…”

“Come on, one teeny little kiss?” Geez, this girl was difficult!

“You are such a pig! Is that all you think about, kissing girls?!” And with that she was stomping out the door. Every couple in the pub (which was the entire place) had been watching, but now were back to their shameless flirting.

“Sod off,” He growled at a couple of third years, who were staring with big buggy eyes. Great, Sirius thought, I get dumped on Valentines Day. VALENTINES DAY! Now I can’t just go find another girl ‘cause all the hot ones are taken, and the rest are either ugly or depressed… Sirius leaned back and looked around. There was a lone girl in the corner, sipping hot chocolate and reading something out of a notebook.

Destiny Glover, who was well known for writing essays on crazy creatures she claimed were real, was happily sitting at her corner table. Seeing as she and Sirius were the only single people in the room (and every other store would be even more crowded than this place, making Sirius want to stay) he got up and headed over to her table.

Without looking up, she said, ”Hello…Sinbad, right?”

“Err.. Actually, it’s Sirius,” Sinbad? Who names their kid Sinbad?

She looked up at him, ”Right, sorry-” She pushed the chair across from her out with her toe”-Would you like to have a seat?”

He sat down slowly, ”So…”

“What happened to your date, I thought you would be with someone all day.” Destiny blinked a few times at him. Well, she’s rather forward, Sirius thought.

“Well, I was with someone, but she left a few minutes ago. Rather angrily I might add…” He frowned.

Destiny laughed, ”Was it Marissa?”

“Yes.” How’d she know, or was it just a very good guess?

“Ah, that explains it then,” She mumbled to herself, flicking through her pile of papers.

Sirius found this girl more confusing than Marissa. ”What explains what?” No wonder people called her Daft Destiny.

“Sorry. Well, you see, some fourth years haven’t been kissed. Marissa is one of them. I guess she’d rather wait for the right guy,” Destiny explained patiently, still sifting through papers.

“Oh.” All the girls he’d dated had been kissed before. At least he thought so… He shrugged it off. These kinds of things didn’t bother him.

“Have you ever kissed someone?” The young girl rested her chin in her petite hands, looking at him with large blue eyes.

Sirius was rather taken aback. He was Sirius Black, of course he’d kissed a girl. Didn’t Destiny know who he was? “Yea, lots of girls! And you…?”

Destiny’s face turned a deep red, “Uhhh…O-once. So, y-yea.”

“Aww!” Sirius playfully slapped her arm, “Who?” Destiny mumbled something into her empty mug. “Speak up… It’s ok, you can tell me.” He took back think she really was daft. She was actually pretty nice. Still odd, but nice.

Destiny’s face was now maroon, “X-x-Xe…” She shook her head.

Sirius raised an eyebrow, “Zebedee Manson?” Destiny remained motionless. “Xenophilius Lovegood?” At the word ‘Lovegood’, Destiny gave a small twitch in her hand. “When? Why aren’t you with him?” Usually girl problems like this didn’t entertain Sirius, but Destiny’s issues seemed different. Strange-ish…

The teen took a deep breath, “Well on Christmas Eve we ran into each other… And we were under mistletoe. It was just a quick kiss, nothing special. That’s why we’re not together,” She was now twiddling her thumbs, and was watching them intently, “I think it was the Sugarplum Elves, they do that.”

There was a rather long silence, during which Sirius tried to figure out what in Morgana’s name a Sugarplum Elf was.

“I fancy him, you know,” Destiny could be rather blunt when she wanted to.

Sirius spat out some of his butterbeer, “Well, why didn’t you ask him to come with you today?!”

“He doesn’t believe in people under fifth year dating, and we’re in fourth. So… I just didn’t,” Destiny shrugged, her face back to normal. It was considerably later now, and half the couples had left.

“Why don’t you tell him you like him?” To Sirius, the solution to this thing was quite obvious. But maybe it was because he was a guy.

Destiny shook her head vigorously, “NO! I would get embarrassed!”

“But you just told me you fancied him, and we’ve known each other for twenty minutes!” Sirius shot back, crossing his arms triumphantly.

“I don't think it was just twenty minutes. But that's beside the point, your nice, and-”

“And he isn’t?”

“No! He’s very nice, it’s just- I like him, and I don’t’ like you.”

Sirius stuck out his lower lip.

Destiny rolled her eyes, “In that way.”

Sirius reached over and shook her slightly, “You’re a brave, bold girl. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t have been in Gryffindor. Now-” He stood up awkwardly, trying to keep her arm in his grasp. Then he proceeded to drag her out the door. He let go as soon as they were in the middle of the sidewalk outside- “Go get the man of you’re dreams.”

Destiny’s alarmed and frightened look slowly faded into a huge grin. She reached up (seeing as she only came up to his elbows) and gave him a quick hug, “Thank you.” And with that, Destiny Glover was running zig-zag down the lane.

James, Remus, and Peter came up out of nowhere, beside their friend.

“What was that about?” James inquired, tapping his buddy on the shoulder.

“Yea, I thought you were with Marissa,” Peter said as Remus nodded.

Sirius smiled at the departing girl’s figure, “Long story.”

June fourth, 1995- 21 years later.

Someone knocked on the door, and Harry quickly wiped his eyes. He opened the broom closet door to see Luna standing patiently outside.

“How’d you know I was in here?” Harry asked in a watery voice.

Luna bit her lip, “Well, I didn’t know it was you, necessarily. I heard someone crying in here, so I had to check. Are you feeling sad about Sirius?”

Harry’s face turned pink. How embarrassing. He patted an upturned bucket beside him, “Join me.” He could use some nice, calm company.

Luna stepped in and shut the door. They were close enough to feel each others body heat, in total darkness, but it wasn’t awkward or uncomfortable.

“My mom always said Sirius was a great man,” Luna said serenely.

Harry looked at her, but could only see black, “You’re mom knew Sirius?” She’d never mentioned that.

“Mm-hm. In fact, he’s the reason she and Daddy got married.”

“Really?!” Well this was news.

“Yes. Mum always said he was the person who gave her the bravery to tell Daddy she liked him,” He could now feel Luna swaying beside him, as though dancing to her own little tune.

“Wow…” There was so much Harry never learned about his godfather.

“They never believed Sirius killed your mum and dad. They said they were so angry when it happened. Daddy was ecstatic when he heard Sirius escaped.” A small silence ensued, “Did you know we’re related through him?”

Harry turned his head so fast he hit it on a shelf, “What?”

“We’re both his godchildren. Isn’t that funny?” Luna laughed softly.

Harry couldn’t think of anything to say. A tear rolled down his cheek. In technical terms, Luna was the only family he really had left.

Luna patted his arm, “Now, now, don’t cry.” How did she know these things? It was slightly creepy.

He grabbed Luna’s hand, “Thanks.”

“Anytime,” she stood up and opened the door, “I’m going down to get some pudding, would you like to come?”

Harry shook his head, “Not now, I’ll be down in a few.” Luna smiled knowingly and shut the door behind her, leaving Harry once again alone in total darkness. He thought about holding Luna’s hand. Maybe on that day so long ago, Sirius unknowingly brought together two couples. Smiling to himself and feeling much better, Harry opened the broom closet door, leaving behind all the darkness and stepping into the sunlit path ahead.

A/N- Love it, hate it? Somewhere in between? I won’t know unless you take thirty seconds to review.
