Chapter 1 : Chapter one: Back to Hogwarts

The first chapter is kind of short and a bit boring. It's more like an introduction to the story. But hopefully you won't hate it.
Disclaimer: I'm not J K Rowling.
Just an extra note; I'm going to rewrite this simply because I'm not satisfied with it. It feels like it doesn't hold the same standard as the other chapters. But I'll tell you when I have rewritten it. Just thought you might wanted to know.
I scanned the crowd, looking for my friends. Seeing as there were a lot of people on the platform and the fact that I might not be the tallest person in the world, they were hard to find. I was just about to give up and go find a compartment when I heard someone calling my name.
I turned around and smiled when I saw Remus Lupin making his way towards me. Remus is one of my friends, and has been since first year. He has sandy blonde hair and chocolate coloured eyes. I don’t think I have ever met any person kinder than Remus. He's always there when you need him.
“Remus! How was your summer?” I asked as I hugged him.
“Pretty good. Hung out with the guys most of the time. Yours?”
“Good too, thanks." I said and smiling. "I’m looking for Lily and Alisha, have you seen them?”
Right after I said that I heard someone yell “SOPHIA!”, and then that someone threw herself over me, almost knocking me over.
“Lily.. Can’t.. Breathe!” I gasped.
“Oh, sorry.” She said, smiling sheepishly. “I've just missed you, that’s all.”
“I can see that” a third voice said.
Lily and I turned around and grinned as we saw our friend Alisha standing there.
“I guess you have missed me too?” She said and smirked, as we hugged.
“You bet” I said, grinning.
“So Remus” Alisha said, “Where are your beloved accomplices? I mean, the train leaves in 15 minutes and Potter hasn’t found Lily yet. That must be a new record.”
And the second after, I swear, we heard someone yell “Were you talking about me? I’m sure my Lily-Flower had many nice things to say about my handsome features”.
I recognized that voice immediately. It just happened to belong to James Potter, who just happened to be madly in love with Lily. Unfortunately, he didn't know how to show her that in a normal way. Instead, he asked her out several times every day and acted like an arrogant arse as soon as she was near him.
Lily was turning red and I sighed. Every bloody year it was the same. Every. Single. One. Potter tried to charm Lily by bragging about his ‘charm’, and Lily would go crazy and yell at him.
“POTTER YOU ARROGANT PRAT, HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU I DON’T LIKE YOU!”
Every year, and always the same scene. Lily yelling, Potter grinning, happy that she’s talking to (or rather screaming at) him, Remus ignoring them, Alisha watching until she would tell them to ‘shut the fuck up’ and me just watching with a mixture of amusement and annoyance.
I shifted my gaze and saw Sirius Black grinning. Of course, he liked this. Behind him was Peter Pettigrew, looking terrified. As usual.
The four boys, Remus, James, Sirius and Peter, call themselves “The Marauders”. Don’t ask me who came up with it, but I’m sure it must be either Sirius or James, seeing as they’re the arrogant ones. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the guys. They're really nice, but way too aware of their good looks.
James Potter has raven coloured, messy hair and hazel eyes. He's tall, muscular and handsome, despite wearing glasses. Together with his friends, he's the biggest troublemaker at school. He plays chaser for the Gryffindor quidditch team, and happens to be very good at it.
James is one of the nicest people I know, but sometimes (or rather when Lily’s around) he just doesn’t know how to behave himself. He gets all cocky and annoying, which is why Lily hate him. But he really, really likes Lily. He just needs to learn how to show her that in a good way.
Sirius Black has black, long hair that falls nicely into his eyes. He has grey eyes and is also tall, muscular and handsome, just like James. Sirius plays beater on the quidditch team. He's probably the most popular guy in school, due to his looks. Girls chase him all the time.
He goes out with girls every now and then, but he’s not a player. However, all the attention he receives makes him very aware of his looks. One word about that: Annoying. But all in all, he's a really nice guy too.
As you might have figured, James and Sirius are the mischief makers. Remus is the smart one, who at least tries to keep them in place sometimes. He’s the innocent one, so to speak, but I suspect that he’s the mastermind behind many of their pranks. I mean, a totally innocent person could never be best friends with James and Sirius, who are like, the children of Satan.
The last person in the group is Peter Pettigrew. He has blonde-ish hair and blue eyes. He’s not as tall as the others, and is a bit on the chubby side. What I’m trying to tell you is, well… He’s not so attractive. And he’s not smart either.
So what is he doing with the Marauders? Don’t ask me. I have no idea. He's nice and all, but a bit creepy. And he’s always staring at me. I hope he doesn’t have a crush on me or something, because ugh… That would be awful.
“Evans, dear. Haven’t you missed me? Oh. There’s no need to ask, is there? The answer’s obvious" James said, with the 'Marauder trade mark smirk' on his face.
“UGH POTTER YOU MAKE ME SICK! YOU ANNOYING –“
“SHUT THE FUCK UP, WILL YA?” And there it came. “The two of you can stay here and continue your yelling match if you want to, but I’m going to find a compartment on the train. Tschüs!”
Ah, always the dramatic one, Alisha Kerr. She has chin length, blonde hair and dark blue eyes. She’s rather muscular for being a girl, but still has curves. Alisha is kind of a sports freak. However, she's not interested in quidditch. She plays muggle sports, like football or basketball.
Alisha doesn’t care so much about studying. Still, she gets good grades. She’s probably the most straight-forward person I know too. Most of the time she’s funny and nice, but when she gets mad she’s really scary. Even scarier than Lily. I swear it’s true.
“Well Lily, I think it’s time to board the train. You and James can finish this… er… discussion later” I said, trying not to piss her off even more.
“I have nothing more to say” she huffed, and dragged me away.
I smiled apologetically to the guys, who just grinned at me.
It was typically Lily to behave like this. Lily Evans has fiery red hair, and gorgeous emerald eyes. She is really pretty, and probably one of the smartest persons I know. Lily is also very nice to everyone. Well, except Potter. But I can understand that. He has stalked her since third year. Honestly, the guy asks her out at least two times a day. Anyone would go mad.
And what about me? I’m Sophia Crawford. I have brown, long hair and dark brown eyes. I’m quite thin, but I’m not weak. I play seeker on the team. Anyways, I, just like Lily, have good grades. School has always been rather easy for me.
As you may have figured, Alisha and Lily are my best friends. We met in first year, when all of us were sorted into Gryffindor. I met Remus on the train, and got to know James and Sirius through quidditch. The three of them are like my brothers now. A bit too over-protective sometimes, but I love them anyway. And when it comes to Peter… Well, I try to be nice to him.
After finding Alisha we began telling each other about our summers. It seemed no one had had an eventful summer, but there were lots of things to tell anyway. After a while I stood up.
“Well, I think I’m going to find the Marauders. I didn’t have the chance to greet them properly, you know.”
“And we all know whose fault that is.” Lily said firmly.
“Well, we couldn’t break the tradition of the annual Evans versus Potter shouting game, now could we?” Alisha said smirking.
“No, I guess we couldn't" I said, mirroring Alisha's facial expression. "But I wish you could see the real side of James. He actually is really nice, Lils.” I said, becoming serious.
“HA! Potter and nice in the same sentence is just impossible. And what exactly do you mean with that Alisha?” Lily said, mock glaring at her.
Alisha smirked. “Ever since first year you and Potter have had this… special way to greet each other.”
“No we have not!” Lily said, her cheeks turning a bit red.
I turned to her and smirked too. “Lily, it’s true. First year…”
“… His owl escaped the cage and pooped on your new shirt” Alisha interrupted me.
“Second year he ate the chocolate bar your mother had given you” I continued.
“My favorite chocolate, mind you!” Lily said.
“Oh and third year! That’s a good one” Alisha said grinning. “James and Sirius stole your knickers.”
“Fourth year” I began, before I burst out laughing. I looked at Alisha and laughed even more.
“Hey! It’s not funny!” Lily said sulkily.
“Fourth year...” I said again. “He… He sang the love song he had written you”
“And…danced to it” Alicia added between her fits of laughter.
“Ugh. That mental picture will never stop torturing me” Lily muttered.
“And finally fifth year he asked you out 15 times. Or was it 16?” I said.
“16 and a half, actually” Lily said, looking like she was trying to remain calm.
“A half?! How in Merlin's name did he manage to do that?” Alisha said, looking puzzled.
“I threw my coke at him before he finished the sentence” Lily said matter-of-factly.
“Oh right. I had forgotten that.”
“Well, as nice as it has been talking about Lily’s and James’ relationship, I’m going to find the guys.” I said, and left the compartment before Lily could intervene.
“You know, Padfoot. I was thinking about increasing our practises. Two times a week is not enough. Maybe three times or maybe even four. What do you think?”
Before ‘Padfoot’, also known as Sirius, could answer (don’t ask me why they have those silly nicknames, ‘cause I have no idea. Alisha thinks they’re secretly gay and that the nicknames are like pet names, but I don’t know) I walked into the compartment.
“Well firstly Jamie, we do have other things besides quidditch, like homework or friends, and secondly: since when are you in charge for our practises?”
“Lovely to see you to Soph.” He said a bit sarcastically, since I hadn’t greeted him.
“Quidditch is very important. School? Not so important. And as for friends: you have many friends on the team! And I just happen to be the new captain for the Gryffindor team.” He said and grinned like a madman.
“No way? Congratulations Jamie!” I said and hugged him.
“Wait, Soph, are you happy about this?” Sirius said to me, looking completely shocked.
“Well, yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” I said confused.
“You don’t think that the fact that James is completely obsessed with quidditch might be a problem in the future?” he said, with an eyebrow raised.
“HEY! I’m here you know” James said, pouting.
“Oh bugger. This is not good.” I muttered.
You see, James Potter is crazy when it comes to quidditch. Sometimes I think he only has two things in his mind: Lily and quidditch. When there’s a game coming, he’s ridiculously happy weeks before it and if we lose he walks around sulking for several days. He has loads of quidditch tactics, like chaser tricks, and he’s always trying to show them to the captain. Except, now he’s the captain.
There was going to be many, many hours of listening to tactics and pep talks. And many hours of practise. Don’t get me wrong, I love quidditch. But that’s just one part of my life.
I sighed and looked around the compartment. Peter was staring at me, like always. When he realised I had caught him staring, he made a weird noise, turned all red and quickly moved his gaze to the window. Merlin, that boy is strange.
I noticed that one of the guys was missing.
“Hey, where’s Remus?”
”Prefect meeting. With Evans.” James said with a distant look on his face.
None of us reacted to it, because he was always like that when he talked about Lily. And I can tell you, he talked about her a lot.
I’m so happy I don’t share a dorm with him. Not just because of the dirty clothes lying everywhere, but also because of James’ ramblings about his ‘Lily-flower’. I swear, the guy can talk about her for hours. So we all preferred this dreamy-looking face.
The hours went by fast, and I soon found myself sitting next to Sirius in the great hall. The sorting was just about to end, and all of us were hungrily waiting for the feast to begin. And when the food finally plopped up on the table, we all stuffed ourselves more than necessary.
The first feast of the year was always extraordinary. The tables were propped with all kinds of food, and the deserts were absolutely splendid. So it wasn't hard to understand why everyone ate so much.
After the feast, everybody was tired after the long trip. Nobody felt like hanging out in the common room, so we went straight up to our respective dormitories. And I can tell you, it didn’t take me long before I fell asleep.
And that was the first chapter. What did you think? Please review!
EDITS: I changed Sophia's eye color so it would fit with the banner. I also added a small text about James. You find it right when he walks up to them at the platform, in the beginning of the chapter.
