Chapter 11 : Waiting
Rating: 15+Chapter Reviews: 5

Background:   Font color:

Over the next week, the last week of Hogwarts, the seventh years relaxed. Our N.E.W.Ts were over, and we just relaxed. The seventh year Gryffindors took to sitting out by the lake talking. Ginny sometimes joined us. It was nice to spend some time with the people I had spent seven years with.

Sometimes, though, Hermione, Ron, and I just left them to be with each other. Ron and Hermione, out of consideration for me, didn’t act like a couple, and we just talked. We talked about nearly everything, about what we’d do after the summer.

Hermione chatted about getting an internship in the Ministry. She wanted to help it build from where it was now. She thought it could be a great authority if it had people who had a clue what they were doing working there.

Ron was still interested in being an Auror, of course. He wanted the honour it got him.

I’d given up that dream. I didn’t want anything more to do with fighting Dark Wizards. I was thinking about maybe playing Quidditch professionally. Both Hermione and Ron thought I’d do great if I did.

Finally, it was the last day. After hearing Dumbledore’s speech, we were all ready to go.

We stood outside the school while waiting for the carriages to turn up. I saw Luna was next to me, and I smiled at her.

“I’m telling Ron,” she said. I frowned at this.

“Didn’t you tell him at the Quidditch match?” I asked, confused. She shook her head.

“I told him about the latest Quibbler issue. He thought it was a little odd. I don’t see why, it’s rather obvious that the whole Ministry is in a conspiracy against house-elves,” Luna said. I laughed. She reminded me of Hermione and S.P.E.W. Maybe her and Ron would work out. If it ever came to that.

Ron and Hermione walked up to the two of us and smiled.

“You two look friendly,” Ron said, giving me a small grin. I was taken aback. He thought I liked Luna? I suppose I did spend a bit of time with her, but it was only because Neville and Ginny were always together and Ron and Hermione were always together. However, I was glad he stopped believing I wanted Hermione, even if it was true.

“Hey, Hermione! Come over here!” Ginny called from behind me. Hermione looked over at her and glanced back at us. Ron shrugged, and nodded in Ginny’s direction. Hermione smiled at us and headed over to Ginny, who then nudged Neville, who walked over to me to pull me to the side.

“You and Ginny are working together so Luna can tell Ron?” I asked. Neville frowned, and then nodded as Luna pulled Ron away. I rolled my eyes.

“Why are you so intent on breaking Ron and Hermione up?” I asked impatiently. Neville shrugged.

“Ask Ginny,” he muttered. I looked him in the eye, and then cracked up laughing.

“She asked you to do this? You had no say, did you?” I asked. Neville shook his head, looking at the ground. I stopped my laughing so Neville wasn’t too embarrassed and looked over towards Ron and Luna. Ron stepped backwards from Luna, who looked a little put out. Ron ran over to Neville and I.

“She can’t say that, can she?” he asked. I raised an eyebrow, pretending to play dumb.

“Say what?” I asked innocently. Ron took a deep breath, and glanced to make sure Hermione wasn’t in hearing distance.

“She just said she likes me! And she knows I’m with Hermione! I don’t know why she thinks there’s even a chance!” he whispered. I tried not to laugh.

“Maybe it’s better her feelings are out in the open?” I asked, feeling like a hypocrite as I said it. Ron shrugged, but he didn’t look very happy about it. I started to head over to where Ginny and Hermione stood, and Neville and Ron followed me. As soon as we reached them Neville slipped an arm around Ginny’s waist and kissed her cheek. I felt jealous. Not because Neville had Ginny, but because he had someone. I wanted someone.

Unfortunately, that someone was currently trying to push her boyfriend off her.

“Ron, just because Neville and Ginny are doing that at the moment doesn’t mean we have to,” she snapped quietly, her eyes darting around, watching to see if anyone else heard. I gave her a small smile. She gave a small smile back. I guess she didn’t mind me overhearing because I actually knew that she wasn’t in love with Ron.

The carriages arrived then, so we all hopped on to the carriage, Luna following after us. I purposely sat myself between her and Ron, not wanting to know what would happen if they sat next to each other.

The train ride and the summer was going to be pretty interesting.

AN~ I know, I know, a very short chapter! I'm sorry! I promise things will be interesting next chapter! Actually, I think the next chapter is the one you've been waiting just wait a little while longer, please! Anyway, this chapter was rather short, and rather boring, but I needed to have Luna tell Ron, and I needed them to leave school, and I needed to showt he renewed friendship between Ron and Harry.
Next chapter will be interesting, I promise!
