The atmosphere of the little restaurant became quiet, the lights dimmed and as if magic candle came floating through the air and danced above the couple’s having their dinners. It was the tradition of this restaurant. Each Friday night it would be couple’s night, only open for couples.
The restaurant looked over a calm and serene lake, undisturbed by mankind. The nature surrounding the restaurant was beautiful, and the calm calls of nature from the wild untouched valley served as the music. Until the classic sensuous music came overhead for couples to sway to, holding each other close.
It was the perfect romantic destination for any couple to spend their evening and enjoy their love for each other. Everything was perfect.
It seemed a miracle that the war did not touch this serene setting, the fear and negative feelings never reached here. Everyone at the restaurant couldn’t think of anything other than their beautiful partners with them, only seeing their eyes, minds only them.
The night progressed soundly, and nobody seemed to notice nor care for whom else was present, and no one noticed that the man who restored peace to the wizarding world was sitting at the best table by the window overlooking the calm lake at the bottom of the valley.
“You know, its time to ease back into society” he whispered gently stroking her hand.
“But we’re in already.” She smiled confusedly at him
“I mean I want to world to know about us.”
“About us being together?”
“Yeah” he reached for her hand, and wrapping hers in his. “That’s exactly what I mean”
Suddenly all candles throughout the restaurant went out, all except the ones over their table. All eyes turned to them, gasps erupted from the realisation who was in the room, who he was with, but especially as they saw the young man slide out of seat and kneel down on one knee holding a obsidian black velvet box in his hand. The room fell silent.
“Hermione, after 5 years of war, 5 agonising years of pain and fear that I wouldn’t get out alive, I’ve learned to appreciate what is most important to me, you. Ever since I met you on the train so many years ago, I have been falling in love with you, and I still don’t think I love you enough. I didn’t know it then, but my world lit up when I met you, my life had a purpose. There was time when I thought you wouldn’t love me back, and it broke my heart. If the war didn’t teach me anything but one thing, it was that love was worth fighting for, and so I fought for you, and I’m so happy I did.”
“Oh Merlin” she whispered, tears rimming her honey brown eyes. She looked down at his eyes and saw all the sincerity of heart, all the love of his being.
“I’m having an inner battle, the new era of peace is still young. There’s a lot of work to do to rebuild the wizarding world and I want to do it with you. I don’t want to do anything without you. I don’t want to be apart from you, I don’t want any of me apart from you, not even our names. I want this new era of peace to know us to be together, properly together. I can’t imagine a world without you, and I’m not even going to try and think about it. And I have made my own little prophecy” he stopped to giggle a little as they laughed at the little joke he made.
“From now on, wherever there is Hermione Granger, there will be Harry Potter.
Hermione, will you marry me?”
