Aurora stepped out of the fireplace into a very crowded waiting room. She turned and took Hermione’s hand and helped her onto seat while she ran up to the reception desk. The receptionist had to be about seventeen and was being very slow and unhelpful.
“Look my friend is about to burst over there with a baby could you please call a doctor down!” shouted Aurora
Aurora felt two hands slip round her waist, and a voice whispered, “Hey baby, did you come all the way down here to see me?” Draco, oblivious to what his wife just said, spun his wife around and kissed her, before guiding her away to his office.
Hermione looked up to see Aurora disappearing round the corner, no doubt for her and Draco to take part in martial activities during his break, but just moments later Draco sped round the corner and began barking orders at Medic-witches. Hermione was soon propped on a trolley and being wheeled along the maternity corridor.
Hermione reached up for Aurora’s hand, “Whatever you do, please don’t contact Ron”
“But Hermione he is the father and your husband he deserves to know his baby is being born”
“Please Aurora” pleaded Hermione, looking at her friend, a single tear fell from her eye.
“Okay, I won’t contact him, I promise” said Aurora,
The trolley finally settled in a much larger delivery room than Hermione’s first one when she had Rose. Hermione turned to see Draco prepping himself for the delivery.
Two nurses appeared beside Hermione, holding a sonogram screen. The taller Medic-Witch passed her wand over Hermione’s swollen stomach. The other Medic-witch presented the screen to Draco, who turned and looked at Hermione.
Hermione could tell he was worried and that something might be wrong with the baby. Draco pulled a chair next to the bed.
“Hermione have you had any abnormal back pain in the last two weeks?” he asked
Hermione already feeling slightly confused nodded. One of the Medic-witches scribbled hurriedly down notes from Hermione’s answer.
“Have you been able to keep down food in the last couple of weeks?”
“Not really, just occasionally over the last few weeks”
“Twice or three times a week” replied Hermione, the tone of worry in her voice was very clear.
Draco looked at the Medic-witch, she in turn nodded. Draco sighed, “I’m sorry to have to tell you this Hermione, but your baby appears to have premature Goblin’s disease, which if your baby isn’t delivered and treated before this spreads to his lungs. We could lose both of you”
Hermione felt the tears welling up in her eyes, her breathing sped up rapidly.
“Do whatever you can for my baby; please think of my 2nd to my baby”
“I will” replied Draco, “I will be right back, I’m just going to inform my staff on your condition and we’ll be ready to go in about ten minutes time”
Draco walked out of the delivery room, pulled down his mask and sighed. It wasn’t the first time he had seen a case like this, but it was going to a lot harder for him. Just then Aurora walked round the corner, carrying a steaming cup of coffee and looking extremely worried.
“Draco how is she? How long till the baby comes? Do you want this coffee? Do you think I should go check on Scorpius?” asked Aurora, not pausing to let her husband answer.
Draco put his hands on his wife shoulders and looked at her. “Aurora, please stop talking. I need you to get Ron here as soon as possible”
“I can’t do that, I promised Hermione I wouldn’t”
“Frankly I don’t care Aurora, Hermione’s life and her baby is in danger and I need Ron here to sign off on the procedure!”
“Okay” said Aurora, quietly, “I’ll get him here as soon as I can”
Draco kissed his terribly worried wife on the forehead and watched her as she hurried down the corridor to apparate.
A/N: Hiya, I’m very sorry that it has taken me almost five months to update. I have been rather busy with School work and other commitments. I know this chapter is very short, but I’m beginning the next one which should be up shortly after this is posted.
